    Great concept! Ordered, then delivered far ahead of scheduled shipping date, thank you! 3mm drill bit is a must as my first attempt with an 1/8" (3.175mm) drill left a little too much play. A #32 (2.9464mm) drill bit was a bit small, but a bit of reaming with the bit gave perfect size holes. With my background of having aligned front ends on cars and trucks for 10 years, I understand bump steering. This is a dramatic improvement over the built in bump steer, and ends putting an excess upward pressure on the steering servo causing the servo horn to strip the servo horn retaining screw. Good Stuff!

      Indeed, it’s pretty hard to find metric bits depending on your location.

      @@AMPROEngineering I was just too impatient to wait for a 3mm bit via online order, lol. Your system works very well, really tamed the "dart and dive" type effect on steering control. MIP diff with updated axle shafts, stock kit shocks, the handling is dramatically improved, like a different car completely! Thanks again!

    Now THAT is a good, simple fix!! I LOVE the ORV vehicles! I never liked the faults. You are systematically improving every one! Getting rid of the bumpsteer is a big one. And so simple! Yes I know, figuring out the geometry wasn't simple, but the result is genius in its simplicity!!
    I will NEVER bash CRP. They've done so much for the Hobby. But I do remember using their steering arms, and still had some bumpsteer.... although not as much.
    I sent you some information about some findings on our little project, and a short story of my stupidity!! 😠😠😢
    At least one item I bought from your store is going to use right away. I ordered your Blackfoot tail light LED buckets and "F-O-R-D" lettering kit. I'm about to "research" to see if they'll work on my new Landfreeder....

    Hi All,
    It's my first time building the blackfoot I am surprised at the front damper stay. It attaches with 2 nuts and bolts where the bolt will only allow the nut to tighten so far. Obviously this is so the front arms can move freely but it means the damper stay has some play. As far as I can tell the only additional support will come front a single screw at the front centre and by attaching it to the dust cover. The damper stay moves back and forth easily (among other things). Despite wanting it as a kid, I regret buying the Blackfoot of all my Tamiyas.
    Will order some of your parts before completing the build...keep up the nice work.

    • @allenkim9288

      Oh, any advice on the play anyone? Thanks!

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  7 лет назад

      Yeah there is a lot of play in that front end. Sadly, that is just how it is. You will feel better when you have it put together and drive it around. This was never intended to be a hardcore racer and couple that to the fact that it is now 30 years old...my has technology moved forward. Keep at it and when you drive it around it will make you feel like a kid again. They are fun toys.

    I love all the suspension upgrades you make for these ORV cars. I had an original Monster Beetle back in 1986, and recently finished both the Monster Beetle and Blackfoot Re-Release kits. I really like your rear suspension conversion, and will be adding this to my Monster Beetle. The real suspension downfall on the ORV cars has always really been the front end IMO though. The stubby arms and super wide outer knuckle assembly having pivot point sooooo far in from the centerline of the wheel just transmit any force applied to the front tire (Like landing off a jump for example) into a pulling on the lower control arm, and pushing of the upper control arm resulting in a binding of the pivot points as opposed to any actual suspension reaction. Have you ever considered designing a front long arm suspension conversion? That entire outer assembly needs to just go away... I literally can design and draw the entire thing out in my head, and on paper, but don't have the cad skills to make the STL files yet. I have a 3D printer now and am just getting started...

    Stop making so many great parts! LOL. Found your channel just after the MIP ball diff presale ended and ended up paying full price from MIP. Glad I could support their efforts and get a great diff. Have the diff and a Blackfoot kit waiting to be built. Hoping to just do one Shapeways order to get started but you keep rolling out great parts with another to come. I'm going to stick with stock rear suspension design for now but will grab your stainless braces and the not yet released I suspect (plus more for the front end).
    Any thoughts on centering up the steering servo since there's no MSC servo needed and getting equal length tie rods? I haven't checked to see how close the center pair of holes is to fitting a servo directly so it may be a non-issue and more or less drop in. I probably ought to get my 3D printer going and try to make something with PLA if needed. So many projects, so little time!

    Just like you have, and I bought it in purple color for my Daughters Black Edition Monster Beetle, I was wondering if you could make something similar to these knuckles for the Lunchbox and the Pumpkin? I have already taken a rubber spacer inside the shock body and corrected the massive mega camber that looked and performed ridiculously. I could get rid of the Bump steering with one of your knuckles. What do you think? I don't think design-wise there would be too much to investigate before you came up with a proto! I want to buy the suspension kits for Double Wish, but I have to be careful with my pennies if what is being said fiscally rears its head. I'm a single dad and I have to get two suspension kits for my Son's Metalic Pump and the family project Lunchbox.

    • @UlisesBatalla
      @UlisesBatalla 2 года назад

      @@AMPROEngineering It is wonderful that we can actually talk to you directly. Thanks for being there for the questions. Let me clarify a bit. The bump steer correction knuckles you have for the Blackfoot, Monster Beet, and so on, on the ORV chassis, I believe would be a good idea for the Pump and Lunchbox. If you take and simply ad rubber spacers to your shocks on the front end of the Pump and L-Box(inside to reduce the long stroke and bring the wheels up to level, with the rear tires, when viewed from the front, all that is left is to correct the bump steer issue that will happen when the A-Arm travels the rest of the way up along its arc. Yes, I understand that we have different suspensions in the ORV and the CW-01, but the way that your modified knuckles get rid of Bump steer in the ORV might just work on the CW-01.

      Yes it is! Well spotted. It is one of my favorite cars. I have three full size ones; 2 US models (called Stradas here) and one imported Ritmo cabrio.

      @RabidDogEOCF 7 лет назад

      Im using 3.0, ive not used 2.0 but from the vids ive seen on it, it doesnt seem so different. I could ship you one of mine to borrow, its in very good shape. ;)

      Yeah 2 and 3 are basically the same with some more FMX and tool kit options in 3.0. I use mold flow in 3.0 a lot.

    Alright I feel dumb. Ordering blackfoot and would like to add all of your modifications to it....this is when feeling dumb hits lol. Tried following vids with parts list..anyway you could list the full complete as in a full upgrade kit? Dont mean to sound or seem like a pain in tbye ass. Yes I get lost with trying to track parts list. Blame a blonde!! 😆 blonde moments suck. Lol

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  5 лет назад

      Hey George, it isnt your blondness, haha! The ordering is a pain and it does not help that I made all these different versions with options. Shapeways USED to have a way to buy a set but it doesnt work anymore. If you like, I can do a couple things. 1. Give me your shapeways info and I can add everything to your cart that you want 2. Buy it for you and mail it to you when I get it 3. Make you a list. Let me know your thoughts but either way you will need to get the hardware.

    Nearly every Tamiya model I have ever seen has terrible steering geometry. Even the new models are not great.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  2 года назад

      It is something that was ok in the 80's for lower end cars but how can they manage that today still?
