Check out part 2!!
ruclips.net/video/cxbIX_mRQAE/видео.html
If starting from a Harvested field:
Mulch
Plow (if needed)
Lime (if needed)
Cultivate
Remove the stones (small ones by rolling, if you have big stones use the picker then go over with the roller again)
plant
x2 fert
weeds 👍
There are different ways to go about it with the different equipment on offer but you need to make sure you get the bonus's
5% Mulching
15% Lime
5% Rolling
23% fert 1
23% fert 2
Dont forget the beeeeesssss
Can you roll after sowing?
I recommend picking the large rocks first and then rolling, then plant :)
@@Spud607 sure can and it works better, second part to this video is out tomorrow and I roll after sowing
@@Scroft i was wondering because thats how its done irl.
Helpful hint,
If you struggle seeing the difference between planted and rolled like I did, plan ahead, decide which direction you will plant and roll across that direction then when you plant you can see the difference much much easier
Im just getting a cultivator which does that wheat texture and then i roll it, and it makes that clean dark texture.
Helpful tip if you’re doing solid fertilizer: spread right after cultivating, it’s much easier to see and allows you to get both states a bit quicker
I'm so grateful to have found this video so thank you for making it. Definitely makes seeding a lot more interesting and really useful.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your tutorials, your global company and maize plus on 19 were invaluable! 👍
Thanks Steven, much appreciated 👍
Just wanted to say thank you for this video, I was really confused by all the different equipment and when to use it and this video has explained it all so thank you very much
You're very welcome!
Thanks for the help, I was trying to find multiple videos of this and this one is perfect!
Love your tutorials. Thanks Scroft
Thanks mate 👍
Awesome thanks. I will definitely be using your method 👍
your vids are sweet and to the point. Love it. Cheers mate.
Fantastic video Scroft! Thanks for the effort to provide us with all this information. With the rolling and seeding, I think the best work around would be to just seed in a perpendicular direction to the rolling. Would be the easiest then to tell where I might have missed a spot I think.
That's a good idea, will make it much easier 👍
kind of like disking a field at a different angle than you are going to plant, makes keeping track of your lines way easier.
Best tutorial video yet for FS22. Thanks MATE!!!!!

Plows, subsoilers, and spaders are supposed to prevent weeds entirely. The other cultivator types are supposed to have higher amounts of weed. although right now there a bug, and only the plow is preventing weeds, as well as the shallow cultivator, and disk harrow.
Same bug (or rather opposite) is with weeder, it cannot prevent weed from appearing, even if you remove them in first stage they will grow back soon so currently there is no other method of dealing with weeds than with herbicide spray
@@luksor4724 Are they reappearing in the exact same spot?
@@jawz-_-7665 it depends of weed % seems that weeder removes 50% of weed, if you use weeder on 75% weed there will stay 25% of weed after your course and then after few months weeds will grow back to 75% or even 100% no matter that you just removed them. It's for sure bug because in other FS games starting from 17 weeder was substitute of herbicide with one condition, you had to use it as fast as possible, now weeder is worthless until they fix this bug in patch. You can check it by yourself, just seed your field with 2in1 seeder (like pottinger for ex.) right after harvesting, then wait one month, use weeder and look how your weeds still grows :(
@@luksor4724 FS says that the weeder only helps in the first growing stages of the weed, so 50%. So if you weed on the day they appear, they will stay away. Weeder is therefore not worthless. Works fine for me...
You forgot the beehive. The canola (And a few other crops) benefit from being in range of a beehive, giving an even further yield increase.
3.5%
What kind of range would that be?
@@renevanhove1066 same question here
@@renevanhove1066 about 50 meters
@@Xenon439 It depends on which bee hive. The larger ones are 150 meters
The seedbed texture that you get from rolling over the field after cultivating is also created when using shallow ground work after cultivating (shallow cultivators, powerharrows, diskharrows). When you use these directly after harvest you get stubble cultivation status, but when used after cultivating you get the seedbed status. Might be an alternative to get the 5% bonus instead of rolling, but i have not confirmed that yet

FYI stones have no effect on yield themselves per se, just the effect of extra potential equipment maintenance, but one of the methods of dealing with smaller stones (rollers) dose have a positive effect on yield, which is just as true when there are NO stones, as a roller converts the ground to a seedbed for +5% in the case of field rollers, if stone themselves had a direct effect on yield then stone pickers would also have +5% yield bonus, but they don't.
ahh yes. I have been wondering about what you just said. So if i turn off stones, i still have to use the roller to get +5% yield yes?
Awesome info. Thank you.
My pleasure, thanks for watching
Excellent video. I had been trying to figure out the best order and what exactly the bonus was for doing each type of fieldwork.
Glad it was helpful!
I was wondering in the context of this video (which includes steps like plowing and cultivating to maximise yields): what're your thoughts on the various combined-purpose tools? Like, the seeders that can plant without prior cultivation, or the ones that combined fertilization with seeding, or especially tools like the subsoil cultivator and the spader which appear to plow and cultivate a field simultaneously? Is this a question that has been answered in another of your videos?
If u found out ket me know
I found it easier to use the stone picker after plowing. It leaves a cultivated state, and you can sow and fertilize at the same time right after. Then you can use the roller, you have to use it after sowing regardless. When I don't need to plow, I would just mulch and direct drill with a seeder. Afterwards, you can roll over the small stones that pop up. One thing I realized though, I didn't know mulching was that important. I was just plowing/drilling right after harvest.
Thanks you so much before this video I didn’t even know what yield was
Thanks so much for another informative video. Couple of quick questions and one suggestion for a future video. First, I thought Rolling was supposed to be done after seeding to push both rocks and seeds into the ground but can’t seem to locate where it was I learned that. Perhaps it was in the equipment description for rollers or on Giant’s Academy training site for fs 22. Second have you noticed any advantages in using solid vs liquid fertilizer? Last for the suggestion, I have always wondered about the impact of the various tool groups on cultivating and plowing. For instance subsoilers vs power harrows vs standard plows or standard shank style cultivators vs rippers, discs and power harrows. Maybe the real answer is the cultivation depth needed turn under the last crop such as using rippers and standard cultivators on standard crops vs different methods for root crops or the basic soil types, not sure, but do not think Giants has done much about providing examples of when one tool is preferable over another. Oh and one additional question, did you produce chaff and bail it or simply leave the chopped straw on the field prior to mulching?
I think he didnt need to roll after sowing because he was using planter instead of seeder
Thanks for the step by step video. I think I know we're i am going wrong now.
Just a note, in the first stage of growth you dont need narrow tires with crop destruction. Also I've heard rumors that spraying for weeds can be done BEFORE weeds even appear. A pre-emerge spray, Ive seen no testing on this, and havnt played enough to see if it actually works.
Thanks for info 👍
It does work. I run sprayer right behind seeder. Can't see the visual difference on the ground, but no weeds will grow afterwards .
I have sprayed after fertilization since fs19 and only very rarely get weeds, but I also always run a weeder in growth stage 1. So seed, fertilizer, weeder, fertilizer then sprayer is my stand cycle per field. Now with 22 have added mulching and rolling.
I know I’m a bit late to the party. After seeding you can fertilize, immediately use the herbicide and fertilize again. No need to wait for a new growth state of the crops.
The rolling before seeding to create a seedbed does not increase yield by 5% but it removes stones to not damage your vehicle, however rolling after seeding will increase yield, just like irl, i usually roll mine twice just to get a nice look on the field (lol) great vid though
Thanks for watching. Yeah this was when fs22 first come out and since I've done some more updated videos
as a farmer who plays this games this tutorial was good to explain FS 2022 to see think about the mechanic for FS 2022 and real life.
good work
I recommend rolling *after* seeding/planting, since the rollers are wider than seeders and planters you can use some breathing room on the side to make sure you don't accidentally miss a spot.
I was always under the impression that you rolled after seeding not beforehand, it firms up the ground a bit and helps stop the seeds washing away should it rain hard before the seeds germinate and get a hold. I also noticed that almost all seeders around here have a trailing roller that is fixed to the reer of the seeders, called a packer, packer is also a manufacturer of rollers.
After plowing, the first crop is devoid of weeds, if I remember rightly it also mentions this in the help
Nice tutorial! Just a side note, there is no need to remove the larger stones as stone do not decrease yield. Stones will only degrade your equipment faster. As well. Large stones will only appear after ploughing! So if there is no need to plough during a cycle then just cultivate and roll your seed bed like normal
Thanks for the info 👍
It says in game that removing stones gives a +5% yield increase and the same again for rolling
Large stones only appear from subsoilers and spaders. Ploughing is only small stones. And if you plow, no weeds at all.
@@WalterEKurtz-kp2jf Removing stones absolutely gives no yield increase at all. I have been testing this. Rolling only gave me a 2,5% increase.
@@jbgaming5822 must be bugged
I will keep watching this to I get it down pack in my brain ty for this
Thank you soo much!!!
Very thanks for this video! I'm new in the whole farming simulator world, so each info is gold for me. I have a couple of questions. Is the mulcher always needed or only after some wheat-like harvestes? Why don't you use the stones collector right after the plowing?
Depends, it is not necessary. But mulching might give you a slight yield increase.
Man this was awsome can you do a video on different tillage
Since we don’t have Course Play or GPS, I tried using ridge markers on my seeder but it brings up rocks
just started the game ,nice guide lad.
I fertilize before I plant it makes it much easier to see where you gone.
I noticed you mentioned the GPS mod for help with keeping straight lines when working fields. I don't know if the heading indicator from the mod was what you used most, but something I noticed only after a few days of playing was the heading and coordinate indicators built into the minimap!
You can also use the roller after you seed too, from what I've read.
Yeah, I know irl that's the most common way 👍
So if you use direct seeds or equipment what cultivated , plow and seed in one go you can save 2 equipment?
Have question
Do i have to use roller after cultivation or no problem using it after harvesting right away.?
I cant sign AI worker though why ?
If you divide your yield by number of passes you have to do over the field with a machine, then the weedy field at the end is way better than the nice field.
I think your weedy field was just seeding and harvesting, so 2 passes or 1135/2 = 567 yield per pass.
Your nice field was mulch, plow, lime, cult, roller, seeder, fert 1, fert 2, deweed (if needed), harvest so 10 passes or 195 yield per pass.
Since you can instantly sleep the days away, you'll make more money quicker in terms of real time spent just doing the least amount of work per field :)
How much more did you spend in fuel for the improved field vs the unimproved field?
Do i need cultivator or i can use disc harrows instead ?
Hi, does it matters if someone have all settings off about stones/plowing/weed etc and skip do the job you did compares do the same job as you did with the settings as off?
is cultivater and plow the the same thing or do i need a plow instead of a cultivator
great video, i also love the pickup you have next to the field... that`s a mod right?, i cant find any pickup mod in my game
It's on kingmods 👍
If i disable all kind of Options so that i only have to fertilize my field do i get 100% Yield or do i get more with alle those steps you did?
Do you anything about buying a plow with a packomat, what this does for you?
does your seeder still have the HR6040RCS in it? It looks that way, this means you are cultivating for a second time right? the Kuhn seeders have a build in Power harrower which cultivates as well
Thank you Sir, earned a subscribe from me.
Thanks and welcome
Scroft, if periodic plowing is off do you still need to plow crops like corn?
I have heard that herbicide has a negative effect on yield, even though it mitigates the negative effect of weeds by destroying them. Therefore the recommendation is to use a welder rather than herbicide. Also you can apply fertiliser before seeding and immediately after seeding, which is quicker than waiting for a growth stage or two. My go to approach is: plough and lime if necessary, otherwise mulch, cultivate, fertilise, seed, roll, fertilise. That gives 100% yield bonus. (I have weeds turned off).
where do you get your mods from Scroft? or where do you perfer to get them from?
What are you using to spray the lime? Thanks for all the info too, very helpful!
Its the kuhn spreader in the fertiliser category in tools 👍
According to the game's website, using herbicide on weeds also gives a penalty to yield, did you do any testing on that?
Thanks for the video. I’m playing with seasonal grow on. After harvest, when do I begin prepping the field? In the month I need to seed? For example oats, harvest is in July/august, planting season is in March/April.
I begin prepping (mulch, seeding, lime, etc in March?
change your field into grass after harvest.
just so you know you can fert 2 times before laying your seed. you can fert after harvest, plow or cultivate so anytime you change the surface of your field. Than all you have to do is spread herbicide after seeding. than all you have to do is wait for harvest.
I know this is an older video. But all I do is after I harvest, I cultivate, then roll, then plant oilseed (or whatever it’s called. Maybe called radish? Idk I’m not playing right now), then fertilize it, then then next day I weed it, and cultivate it, and it gives me a 75% yield, then I plant whatever I’m planting, weed it, then finally I fertilize that and it gives me a 100% yield. Pretty simple.
Do you need to mulch before if you are going to plow it?
And roll it before you seed. In real life you do it in the other order
The fact it even says corteva on the herbicides💯
So you spray the field 3 times?
2 times fertilizer and 1 time weed killer, is that correct?
What store delivery mod, is that for console too?
Doesn't spraying herbicide hinder your yield depending on weed size?
If you turn off periodic plowing, like required, stones and weeds do you get the maximum yield or do you just not have the hassle and remain with the basic yield?
I want to know this answer as well. I plan to test it this week
What is the tool you used on the lime
What was the truck mod you had there?
What are your settings? my game is laggy asf
I just use the ridge marker with the seeder and then there's nothing to worry about looking for texture change etc
You could have also after you rolled the field you could have sprayed some fertilizer down then plant and then after you get done playing you can apply the second fertilizer down having 100% fertilized before the crop even comes out of the ground
Great video. I'm new to FS games. Was wondering why my fields were 100% weeds after a couple days. What do you recommend for a new player just getting started not wanting to do any money cheats? Lease all that equipment you use? Or sacrifice certain steps?
Early on you don't have the funds to obtain all of the necessary tools for maximum yield. So you kind of just have to work your way up to it. I would recommend taking a loan out for a weeder, plow and lime spreader or a liquid fertilizer spreader to start since all of those have the biggest effect on yield. I wouldn't worry about rolling or mulching until you can pay off your loan. Same goes for stone Pickers, but with those, I wouldn't by the cheaper 2 of the 3 because they are super difficult to use and you'll spend more time lining up for your next row than you will be actually picking up rocks on that row. Also, if you get a liquid fertilizer spreader, don't get a weeder, or if you get a lime spreader, don't get a liquid fertilizer spreader because the Liquid fertilizer spreader can use fertilizer and herbicide, and the lime spreader can use lime and fertilizer. It's merely to save money since you don't technically need both since one can do the job the other can't.
@@NomadHorizon super helpful thanks. Didn’t know about taking out loans! I did lease a dry fertilizer spreader… those things are stupid expensive. I dot quite understand how leases work yet. But we’ll see!
@@ryanm5291 It's pretty straight forward. You can take out loans in increments of $5,000 up to a maximum of $500,000. You can pay it back whenever you like but you do have loan interest that will take money out of your bank once every month. Also, I meant to say don't get the cheaper 2 stone pickers because they are garbage. The most expensive one does cost a bit, but the hassle you save yourself from will be worth spending the extra money. But like I said, i wouldn't worry too much about a stone picker at the start, because tool maintenance isn't all that bad and the stones have no negative impact to yield. Since you did get a Solid Fertilizer spreader I would also get a weeder since you already have the lime and fertilizer covered with the Spreader(assuming you got one that can spread both), and lastly just a plow. Then you'll be yielding about 160% on your crops. which is still really good.
Question you plow the field you lying it and the line is getting on the other field that's growing because I'm having the AI worker put the line down does it affect the field that's growing
As a hint, the widest mulcher is not the best, the second widest one is the best because the speed is 50% higher with only 20cm less ^^
Thanks for the video. do you know you can discharge straight into the silo from the harvester ? This way you can save on the cost of a trailer at the initial stage if the fields are close to the silos.
Yes that is possible, I found out by mistake XD
How can you tell what the yield bonus is (for example plowing bonus, weed hit for 20%, fertilizer bonus 23%, etc?
OMG, i thin k the biggest change i'm happy to see is that plows now stick to field restrictions, or at least, my experience with plows in FS19 was that when I'd try to plow a field, it would end up making a bunch of little triangle parts, or, large swaths of "new field" so usually all the edges of my fields had a sawtooth look and it really messed with AI pathing.
Sounds like you had your plow set to ‘create new fields’ make sure to keep that off unless you’re trying to extend or create a new field! Hope that helps, should work the exact same in FS22.
You can disable that function in fs19 hehe
thank you mate great informative video.this is the first video i watched on anything about the new farming simulator.wouldnt narrow tyres increase ground compaction compared to wider tyres?,works in real life farming anyway.i noticed when you parked the trailer under the combine that you had to hopinto ombine to unload it,not a welcome change in my view.thinking im going to keep play fs19.thanks for the great video sir.much love to you and your family
do you have a step by step guide? i love following what experienced players do, i find it easier to learn hhahaha
Do subsoilers do the same thing as plows or there are some differences? I prefer using them because their arent oblique as the plows
Sub soilers and spaders will do a plowed state but bring up larger stones then plows
Great video! 👍😊 Can I ask if anyone is having an issue with the mulched layer on soil composition? It doesn't dissappear so i can't tell if the field is fertilised without driving to it and looking at the individual field description? Can't find a thing on Google at all..
I have a problem no matter what I do my fields are only bring up large rocks with any cultivator it also says I don't need to plow yet what do I do? I started using a power harrow to avoid the large rocks but it skips cultivation status and shows seedbed and now I don't know if I'm going to lose yield
What are the steps with a brand new feild nothing been grown on it keep seeing tutorials with fields that have previously been harvested .
How did you empyed out the furnelzer
When is the f 450 going to come to console mods
Few things, Do these buff or debuff or both? I.E if i fertilize is it +23 percent or is it -23 percent if i don't so if the yield is 100 and i fertilize does it become 123 and if i don't it's 100 or is it 100 and if i don't fertilize it's a yield of 77? additionally if they are buffs, do they stack or are they based off the base yield, so if i fertilize and the base yield is 100 and it becomes 123, does my second fertilizer cycle make it +23 percent of the base yield of 100 or does it now make it +23 percent of 123?
Sounds to me like fertilizer is a buff, and weeds, stones, etc are debuffs?
All good questions. from what I understand they stack and are buffs. weeds and requiring lime are negative so de-buff. I would need to do some more tests to find out the exact numbers when it comes to yield from one buff to another. Giants didn't really give out much info 😅
