Just wanted to let you guys know, I've used your you tube videos to repair my 2002 Tahoe twice now and what a great help they were. Don't think I would have had the confidence to do these jobs without your helpful videos. Thanks and keep up the good work. I will be spreading the word about your site. Ed
Thank you 1A Auto, I pulled a turn signal switch from pic a parts here in L.A. and after watching your video several times, I was able to swap out the old switch with the new switch I got off a 2006 Chevy avalanche which fit perfectly on my 2006 Tahoe. Every time I used my right blinker...my HIGH BEAMS would come on which was annoying for other drivers in front of me. This whole process took me fourty minutes, and I didn't have to swap out any harnesses. Thank You 1A AUTO!!!
The exact same thing that was happening to you, was and has been happening to me and it is truly annoying, makes me feel like a messed up and annoyed because to the other drivers they probably just think that I'm flashing them to be a dick. But anyways I'm glad that I'm not the only one with that problem and now that I know that by doing this it will fix the problem, is pretty dope, little things like that in my truck bother the hell out of me so I've been very destined to fix that. Thanks for mentioning your alike problem.
Just finished installing my new switch I bought from 1AAuto. Local shop wanted $600. I did it in a couple of hours for the $70 part. This video was very helpful. Thank you!
+Lee Lambrecht Thank you for the positive feedback. We really appreciate it! If you have a minute, drop us a review on our Facebook page to let other people know about your experience with us. Here's a link: facebook.com/1AAuto/reviews/
Exactly as the video , even a girl can do it and I she did. This saved us hundred of dollars in installation. Did it myself but would have been nice to know the 7 and 10 were metric. Not use to the different sockets but I have asked for a set for Christmas!!!
My low beams on on 2000 GMC Sierra were intermittent. I checked everything else and tried replacing the combo switch -> problem solved. Video was very good. I'm no auto mechanic but above average in the 'how stuff works' category. A couple of comments: 1) @3:34, removing the upper steering column panel was very tedious. Seems there was a small MALE torx bolt right above the keyswitch that prevented removal until identified. I used a 3mm socket and forced it. 2) @ 7:56, I used a curved dental pick to release the mini clip. I don't know how you could have done it with a screwdriver. Otherwise the directions were spot on. If you've never worked under the dash before, count on this taking a good couple of hours.
I have the same truck and my low beams stopped working. I spent weeks trying to diagnose the issue and came across your comment. 30 minutes later and I have lights again! 🙏
I ordered the part from A1, and just completed the job on my 2006 GMC Sierra. This video is really accurate in it it's steps it shows you to complete the job. The only thing different I did was I didn't remove any harnesses, or cut any tie wraps. I just used a really tiny flathead screwdriver to lift up the tabs that hold the connectors in place. They all came out real easy. At first the cruise control wouldn't activate when I tried it. But on my second try, it worked. So it's all good now. Hopefully this will eliminate my issue I mentioned in my first reply, down below. Thanks for the video.
+JAMES GOMEZ Thank you for your order. If you would like to leave us a review on Google it would be greatly appreciated. Here is a link to our reviews section. Have a great day! goo.gl/i5JFNY
Thank you! Still helping me out in 2023! This stalk is so much different than the 02-06 version....... just glad it worked after installing it all back!! 2 T20 torx under the wheel column btw
Thanks for the post gave me the confidence to tear into mine. Turn signal keep clicking regardless what I did. After completely taking apart the turn signal switch apart and cleaning the terminals it works and didnt cost me $120+ to replace it. If you attempt the same, record the process so you can put it back together. The car didn't start afterwards. But after using a test lamp I identified we blow the TCB fuse "throttle body control". Mission complete.
My cruise control has never worked for the 5 or 6 years I’ve owned my truck and after watching this video I think I’m ok without having cruise. So tired of new plastic cars breaking down after only a few years! My 67 Impala still runs because it was built with quality parts made in AMERICA!
this is the second one in 4 years. the guy at the shop charged me 450 for the job saying the part was that expensive at the dealership and 75 bucks labor. Im gonna give it a shot!!!
There may be other components that would need to be installed in order to make it function. They dealership might be able to tell you what you would need to install.
I just recently had to remove and replace this control on my 2002 Silverado 3500. This video made it so much easier and quicker to perform the task. Thank you!
I used this video to guide me through the install of the multi function switch with CC on my 1999 base Silverado. With the addition of the under hood servo I now have working Cruise Control using all factory parts. Great video.
Great tutorial. I just used it to upgrade my 2001 Silverado 1500 with cruise control. One thing I noticed is that the two bolts that hold the combination switch to the steering column were T25 on my truck instead of T27.
i received the instructions to replace turn signal switch they were for 1999=2002 my silverado is 2007 are instructions the same these were very easy & complete thank you charles cacioppo
+Stan Brawley Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair we carry the replacement part shown in this video on our website. Here's a link to them www.1aauto.com/1A/cruise-control-lever/Chevy/Silverado/1AZCC00167?RUclips&CTA%20Comment&ATony
Thank You Mike and all that you do. This video made it a much easier job than if I didn't have it. Your part for this works great and looks original. Bryan, I had my wife do it for me. She has much smaller hands than I.
Hi there, Thank you so much! Received our switch for my 2002 Tahoe from you last week and replaced it today... the instructions were perfect - than you! Unfortunately the cruise control still didn't work. Decided to see if we should change the module and that is when we learned saw that all of the wires leading into the module are broken off at the connector! Do you sell the wires and connector that go into the module? I am hoping and praying this is not a complete rewiring job.
2001 GMC Sierra. This video was extremely helpful. I've replaced my switch and was pretty straight forward. My problem that I'm having and is the main reason I switched this out in the first place, was I don't have cruise control and 4 way flashers. I'm not sure if the LED taillight/headlight upgrade has a play in it or possibly the switch I replaced it with. Another words, I'm pretty stumped now. I'm also wondering if anyone knows what the module the cruise control lead was plugged into is? I'm wondering if that little module on the right side of the column could be causing the cruise control not to work? Any suggestions and solutions would definitely be appreciated.
+cliffmeister2000 Thanks for watching, glad it was the same process! If any of our viewers needs to make this repair, we carry the auto repair part shown in this video on our website. Please make a notation in the video of an inverted hex screw under the top covering as I almost broke my cover. I know this vehicle was already taken apart but there was only a mention of two exterior screws. Kept thinking it needed a hard pull but double checked though. Good video in helping me swap the parts.
so I did the job exactly as the vidio man did, But the truck will only start for a second or so, I did the 30 minute redlearn process several times with NO luck. Any Ideas ? I noticed the interior lights no longer work as well as the key fob. All fuses are OK. I don't know how to test relays or which one to test. I think I'll call the to truck in the morning unless you guys no something.
I'm really impressed with your how to video's. I've got a 03 Silverado WT that came without factory cruise control. I've been told that the combination switch that you guys offer will provide my truck with cruise control if installed. Is there any truth to that? If so, I'll be adding this to a long list of parts that you guys offer! Thanks
When replacing the turn signal switch, when removing the steering wheel collar, that there were two screw either t20 or phillip screws, but I think you mention the ones in your video weren't there, no one has ever done any work on mine in that area maybe but it looks just like the video that you provided, so my question is which ones were they phillips or t20's.
great vid, I am trying to diag the cruise control not turning on for my 2001 Yukon xl. Do you think it could also be the brake switch not functioning that would cause the cruise control to not power up?
I bought a 2005 GMC Sierra without cruise control, standard steering wheel n control's on it . Can i just add the cruise, turn signal, washer multi switch to get the cruise control to work, or do i have to change the steering wheel also
Hi , great video, thanks ! at time frame 7:52 ,you took the last wire off ,what is the part called > I broke the locking tab on mine & can't find out what that part is ! I thought it was a parking sensor, but I haven't been able to find that part or what it's called. I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out ! thank You !
Great video! Very helpful. But I am stumped as to why you replaced the wiring harness too. Can you just swap out the turn signal switches (replace an AC Delco with another AC Delco turn switch) without messing with the wiring harness?
+ramcnei0611 You could do that, but if the part is old you are really better off swapping it all out, including the wires! The part shown in this video can be found here if you need it: www.1aauto.com/1A/cruise-control-lever/Chevy/Silverado/1AZCC00167?RUclips&CTA+Comment&LSwZpRc
I think the 99-02 needs harness removal. Not sure on 03-04 but on my dads 06 didn’t have to do harness just bought the switch without harness. My 02 started with dim lights not working or would only work with tilt steering up in certain positions. Now bright’s doing same thing and will only work with tilt all the way up. Also shorting out my gauges cause int them to flash everything and gas gauge jumping all around. Replacing it tomorrow
I think this is 99-00 maybe even 01 because other years you don’t have to disconnect from harness closest to firewall. Mainly the red emergency switch vs a gray one.
I ordered a signal switch on my 2001 Silverado. the parts came in a short time in perfect condition . I watched the video and installed the switch smoothly except for that cruise control clip behind he steering column that was a bitch. your videos are super. Thank you. by the way can you use the old signal switch be glad to send it to you to refurbish , Johnny
+Johnny Avent Thank you for your order. If you could leave us a review on Facebook it would be greatly appreciated. Here's a link to our Facebook page. Have a great day! facebook.com/1AAuto/
It may be similar to the earlier video, there could be a few differances though. We carry new turn signals on our website with free shipping for your 2003 Chevy Silverado. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Could the turn signal switch going bad affect the brake lights and rear turn signal? Upper Cab brake light works. New brake switch. I'm lost. Any advice is greatly appreciated
Watched your video on replacing a multi switch in a 2003 chev malibou. Very easy install thanks but now I have a new problem. The horn is not working. I think it has something to do with the pins comingnout of the multi switch and the two rings that the pins contact. Please explakin how the rings and pin function. Are they part of thenhorn circuit? Regards Randy
2001 GMC Sierra needed the turn signal replaced. This video was awesome and I bought the replacement part from 1aauto, should be here 19 March 2018. I encountered a unique issue in removing the turn signal wiring harness. The 7 mm bolt just spins, and doesn't release wiring harness. Any thought on how to solve this? I have tried small vise grips to pull outward while turning to no avail.
I have a 97 Silverado. A few weeks ago, the high beams only worked if I tilted the wheel all the way down! Now they don't work at all... In fact, now only the daytime running lights work if the parking break is disengaged! Even the switch doesn't turn them on. It only turns on the parking lights. I changed the headlight switch but they still do not work. Does it sound like it could be this multi-function switch? Would the replacement be the same as in the video? Any help is appreciated!
Ok, I have a 66 buick wildcat. My brake lights do not work but what I do have is running lights, turn signals, reverses lights, and high beams. I notice when I put the car into reverse the brake lights come on (or running lights) with my reverse lights. Other then that I have no brake lights. I have put a new brake switch on, new fuses(all), bulbs(all), and I tried a new flasher. The new flasher made the turn signals not work so I put the old flasher back on.
Hi, The Trailblazer switch is a different part number, so the process may be different on your vehicle. Part Number: 1AZCC00166 on 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
In your opinion..would changing tjis part fix my turnsignals and brake lights not working on a 99 tahoe? My running lights work just not the brake lights or turn signals.
i have an 06 chevy silverado i replaced the turn signal relay and turn signal switch. i also checked the fuse and is all good, unfortunately my hazards and signals still don't work...
+Isai Martinez I'd start trying to follow the wires back at that point and looking for a short somewhere. 1aauto.com?RUclips&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393
Thank you for your videos they are extremely helpful. If my wipers only work on the highest setting, but signals still work do you think it's the stalk switch or wiper motor
Hello and thank you for the videos. I replaced the switch and the cruise control is still not working. I was having a problem with the wipers also but fixed that separate issue. Whats the next step? Module?
+Travis Feiner Double Check all your connections first. The Module might be the next step. However, if you know a good trustworthy mechanic. They might be able to diagnose what exactly you need as it's difficult to accurately diagnose a vehicle without seeing it in person
would this switch cause the turn signals not to work and the cruise control? my signal flash in the dash but not out side my truck im wondering if this is the problem?
i have an 01 silverado, and the turn signal makes the clicking sound when i hit a bump turn or when I'm just driving along, if multifunction switch is the problem do i have to replace the whole switch (cruise control, wipers, etc) or can i just purchase the part that controls the turn signals?
I have an 2005 silverado 2500 hd and I am having issues withbthr turn signals..all other components worknfine except the turn signals..neither work at all..I checked both fuses on the panel nxt to the driver side and turned out they were okay.i still switch them just to be sure..and it still did not work..im guessing it would probably be the flasher relay..if im right.. where would it be located? and help will be useful. Thanknyou
on my son's 2001 Silverado everything works fine except the blinkers will not shut off after you straighten the steering wheel after turning. Will this fix that problem?
Thanks so much for this, very much appreciate your vids!. Couple questions: was this for a low beam fix? Also have read that you should disconnect battery and air bag fuse for this, but didn't appear necessary? Thanks! TG.
+DJ Steve Ur Thank you for checking us out. The procedure will be similar, however the sizing of hardware could slightly differ. Please view www.1aauto.com/turn-signal%2c-wiper%2c-and-cruise-control-switch-lever/i/1azcc00166?f=819866&y=2003 for your 03 Suburban which is specific to models with cruise control.
where would the flasher relay be located on a 2005 silverado 2500 hd? or does this newer models have no relay and i would have to switch the whole handle?
Question: what was wrong with your turn signal switch that made you replace it? My 2004 Silverado left turn signal light stays on (doesn't blink) when I push the lever down in colder weather. If I turn it off and then back on the signal blinks like normal. This issue is becoming more frequent. Also, when I push the lever down (left signal) and the cruise is on, intermittently the cruise disengages. Are these two symptoms related? Is the turn signal assembly just worn and needs replacing? Thanks for your help!!

Thank you! I am not a mechanic and thanks to you I was able to change my defective multi function switch. 2 hours and $80. for the part online
it may be located on the fuse panel of the truck. the owners manual should tell you where the fuses are located. Sometimes they are in with the fuses.
You may want to check the switch to see if there's a loose or frayed wire, which may be causing this type of situation.
Great tutorial. I just used it to upgrade my 2001 Silverado 1500 with cruise control. One thing I noticed is that the two bolts that hold the combination switch to the steering column were T25 on my truck instead of T27.

Best damn video I have seen for this repair.
Thank you. I watched other videos claiming the 99-09 was the same. And this is the only one that matches my 2002 tahoes blinker wiper cruise deal.
Thanks this video was extremely helpful. Went through it step by step in my 01 Chevy 2500hd and now my headlights work again! Thanks guys!
Waiting for my turn signal switch to arrive and replace it on my 2001 Silverado. Thanks, GREAT VIDEO!
It could be. You should also check the simple things first like the fuses to see if any of them could be burnt out.
It could be an issue with the flasher relay.
Nevermind I got it. Thank you for the step by step. super helpful and saved a bunch of money!
Low beams in my 2005 went out, they recommended to replace this.
doing it for my brake lights
did u fix it lol
Thanks 1A ! You guys rock ! If I'd tried this on my own, I'm sure I would have screwed it up, this video was perfect. Cheers.
I've told this switch can cause a circuit in the rear brake light circuit to go out,Is this true ?.

Test the power going to and from the brake switch to see if it has power.
There may be a clip on the side of the harness that holds it in place.
Thank you for pointing out the cruise control wires. My truck doesn't have that so they were just hanging around.

It should come right off for you as we show in the video.
I ordered a signal switch on my 2001 Silverado. the parts came in a short time in perfect condition . I watched the video and installed the switch smoothly except for that cruise control clip behind he steering column that was a bitch. your videos are super. Thank you.
by the way can you use the old signal switch be glad to send it to you to refurbish ,
Johnny
+Johnny Avent Thank you for your order. If you could leave us a review on Facebook it would be greatly appreciated. Here's a link to our Facebook page. Have a great day! facebook.com/1AAuto/
I got everything but the cruise control clip. My hands are just too big!
That is correct.
Regards
Randy
2001 GMC Sierra needed the turn signal replaced. This video was awesome and I bought the replacement part from 1aauto, should be here 19 March 2018. I encountered a unique issue in removing the turn signal wiring harness. The 7 mm bolt just spins, and doesn't release wiring harness. Any thought on how to solve this? I have tried small vise grips to pull outward while turning to no avail.
+Usingerina moapensis You may need to find a way to keep the nut from turning so you can back the screw out.
Thank you! Wipers kept turning on when I would use the right turn signal. ('02 Silverado)
Would you want to replace this if your turn signals work. But when they are off the sound for the blinkers is still on?
Would replacing this part make the cruise control and right front turn signal work again on my 07 Silverado?
Hi, The Trailblazer switch is a different part number, so the process may be different on your vehicle. Part Number: 1AZCC00166 on 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Video with 2000 Chevy express turn signal replacement
At about 5:45 you have the camera away from where you were doing the work. You did not show how to detach the plugs after you took the 7mm bolt
How hard would it be to install cruise control? I have an '04 Sierra Work Truck model that doesnt have cruise.
Thank you for your videos they are extremely helpful. If my wipers only work on the highest setting, but signals still work do you think it's the stalk switch or wiper motor
Same question. Did you figure it out. My wipers only work on hi
It may be a similar process.
It could be similar to the earlier model shown.
I have a 2003 chevrolet silverado 1500hd, is the take apart and instalation the same?
I have a 99 chevy silverado and when I pull the turnsignal lever to turn the brights on the light go out does it need a new turn signal lever
Are both the blue and white wire supposed to have power? I have a test light.
would this switch cause the turn signals not to work and the cruise control? my signal flash in the dash but not out side my truck im wondering if this is the problem?
i have an 01 silverado, and the turn signal makes the clicking sound when i hit a bump turn or when I'm just driving along, if multifunction switch is the problem do i have to replace the whole switch (cruise control, wipers, etc) or can i just purchase the part that controls the turn signals?
I have an 2005 silverado 2500 hd and I am having issues withbthr turn signals..all other components worknfine except the turn signals..neither work at all..I checked both fuses on the panel nxt to the driver side and turned out they were okay.i still switch them just to be sure..and it still did not work..im guessing it would probably be the flasher relay..if im right.. where would it be located? and help will be useful. Thanknyou
on my son's 2001 Silverado everything works fine except the blinkers will not shut off after you straighten the steering wheel after turning. Will this fix that problem?
Whats the thing called that the little pin on the turn switch touches for the horn to work?
Thanks so much for this, very much appreciate your vids!. Couple questions: was this for a low beam fix? Also have read that you should disconnect battery and air bag fuse for this, but didn't appear necessary? Thanks! TG.
Oh and how long did this replace take total? Thanks!
What’s the other wires that go to the plug above the flasher relay? I need to find that plug or harness to buy
Would the 2003 Suburban be the same procedure?? What does this part usually go for??? Great video, btw
+DJ Steve Ur Thank you for checking us out. The procedure will be similar, however the sizing of hardware could slightly differ. Please view www.1aauto.com/turn-signal%2c-wiper%2c-and-cruise-control-switch-lever/i/1azcc00166?f=819866&y=2003 for your 03 Suburban which is specific to models with cruise control.
where would the flasher relay be located on a 2005 silverado 2500 hd? or does this newer models have no relay and i would have to switch the whole handle?
at 4:46 do you push in on any tabs or buttons to remove the wiring harness? i loosened the screw but it wont budge? aty suggestions?
Question: what was wrong with your turn signal switch that made you replace it? My 2004 Silverado left turn signal light stays on (doesn't blink) when I push the lever down in colder weather. If I turn it off and then back on the signal blinks like normal. This issue is becoming more frequent. Also, when I push the lever down (left signal) and the cruise is on, intermittently the cruise disengages. Are these two symptoms related? Is the turn signal assembly just worn and needs replacing? Thanks for your help!!
Can you replace just the arm, if the switch is still good, but the arm broke off?
My truck came without fog lights and I'm looking to install the switch where factory would be. How do I remove the light and cargo lamp cluster?
