If you're ever in south Chicago, stop by the Restvale Cemetery at Alsip, IL and give a reverent visit to McKinley Morganfield. "Muddy" is at rest to the rear and left of the entrance. His burial marker is a flat marker which is counter sunk and tends to flood during the wetter months.
The trip is well worth the diversion of the big city. There are a number of blues greats here. Hound Dog Taylor, Doc Clayton, Sweetwater Clifton, Jazz Gillum, Shakey Horton, J.B. Hutto, Little Johnny Jones, Magic Sam Maghett, Papa Charlie McCoy, Pinetop Smith, etc.
The front office has a map with plot numbers to these blues men and others for visitors.
thank you johnny winter for helping muddy revive his career and live his last days with the fame he deserved !
Love me some johnny winter some muddy round it out with some hang dog
I saw Muddy and Johnny each at small and larger venues. And then once together for a memorable night at Auditorium Theatre in Chicago after the release of Muddy’s Hard Again album on which Johnny produced and played on.
@@bradsense7431Buddy Guy is the only one left. He is still touring. He's going to play some dates here in the northeast this year. 😅
@@bradsense7431Oh, My, Gosh, Lucky You!! I didn’t see either and I’m so jealous, Johnny only lived one state away and I’m sure he played Tulsa many times. Wasn’t on my radar back then, huge regret.
@@bradsense7431Must have been great to see Johnny and Muddy together! Lucky man 😊🎶
It gives me goosebumps to mention that I got to see Muddy Waters live...
Same here. Can you believe Muddy Waters played at Lincoln Center in NY in maybe 1975. There was a blues festival that played out over 3 weekends. Hounddog Taylor and Howling Wolf also played there. 🎙️🎸🌃
Kudos,Kudos, for having the freaking greatest blues artist in the world on the Midnight Special 🎉🎉
Wow, I had no idea Muddy ever played on Midnight Special! What an awesome gift indeed to see this performance!!
Very nice of Burt Sugarman to put him on. I always wondered if Chuck Berry had anything to do with it since Muddy and Chess Records got him his start.
THANK YOU MIDNIGHT SPECIAL!
Preachers in cornfields tsk tsk
Loved it when Muddy played “Baby Please Don’t Go” with Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Mick Jagger at the Checkerboard Lounge, Chicago in 1981, it’s on YT.
Muddy’s definitely Da Man!! and what an influence!! 🎉🎉❤
Muddy was one of the greatest, along with Howlin'Wolf or BB King! Saw him 1977 in Germany. He opened for Eric Clapton and stole the show😁🎶🇫🇷
Was so fortunate to have seen him. Living in Australia put a lot of live performances out of reach, but Muddy came to play in the early 70's and i saw him in Sydney. Brilliant evening.
I saw Muddy Waters open for The Allman Brothers Band in St. Louis in 1975. He was awesome!
This video is freaking cool. I liked it so much.
This was great
The one and only muddy waters sooo good what a band around him and Johnny winter is amazing and was instrumental in getting muddy back in the mix
I believe there’s a double entendre here
Nothing gets by you man. 😎

👍👍
The video got cut off a wee bit too soon at the end. New scenario.
What's the matter with the mill??
Done broke down!!
Does anyone know who the other 2 guitar players were on this?
One is Bob Margolin who is still playing live.
Thanks. Margolin is so young I didn’t recognize him.
Wow. I saw Bob Margolin when I was at Va Tech in like 1984. He was big down there. I also saw BB King the night Muddy Waters died at Painters Mill Music Fair which has sadly since burnt down. @@MA_808
Steady rollin Bob Margolin.
@@Zoetropeification hollywood fats
Fats and Bob!
The recording is bizarre. It has the electric piano player playing psychedelic 60s chops.
