Your hose coupling tip is excellent! And you covered all the bases. Great video! Thanks! I have some clear tubing for changing the oil in my tractor mower, but the ID is too big for spark plugs, at least the ones for small engines, so I'll take a spark plug to Lowe's or Home Depot to see if I can find some to use for spark plug coupling. That way I'll know that the tips are not touching inside. I can also use a spark tester with this setup. To my understanding, if the bulb lights, but the engine doesn't start, the spark plug is likely bad, so I can pull the spark plug, connect the tip cap, connect the threads or that end to ground (I'll make a dedicated ground jumper with 2 wide-jaw alligator clips for that) and check for gap spark that way, too. You're the man!
my 1990 pontiac firebird has the original wires from the factory, im having stalling issues. slight backfireing too. I'm guessing wires should be changed at 27 years old? the engine has intermitent vibration
Y’all are complicating yourselves. Just grab a screwdriver that’s resistant to electrical shock(klein preferably) and stick in through the end that attaches to the spark plug. Next, ground it to any bolt on your vehicle like your valve covers. This can be by simply making contact while inserted into your wire and touching the bolt simultaneously. If you see a spark(arc) your good to go. Repeat this step for each cylinder. I’ve been testing distributors for years using this method and have had no issues with any electrical components. Hope this helps and keep in mind this is the hill billy way to get er done. Good luck yall.
My tester lights up for all 8 plugs, but only 5 coils change the engine sound when disconnected, one at a time. All coils, plugs and wires are new, but idle is a little rough. Could 3 could still be bad?
can the resistance of spark plug wire be too low? factory shows wire should be 12k-ohms, the wire manufacturer says this wire should be about 4k-ohms. the wire is only measuring 400-ohms.
+amjad amj try tapping on it with the bottom of your fist on the hood in the general area of the hood latch, do this as you pull up and down on the hood. Sometimes that helps, or try getting a screw driver in there between the grill to pull the latch back. GL
my 1993 Mazda MX6 is a 4 cylinder 16 valve DOHC & it does not get spark, fuel or it doesn't crank over.. it cranks but it cranks really fast.. so I'm thinking the timing is off as well.. any suggestions?
How are u i have a question kia sedona 2005 3.5 liters, new spark plugs,, new spark plugs wire, and the problem is when u put a coil i dont now what happen but melt the ignition coil, shorter driver short to ground. i dont believe that..
Nah, you're doing it all wrong. Just pull the wire off your plug, then get your cousin Billy Bob to stick his finger into the plug wire where the plug goes. Once you are sure cousin Billy Bob has his finger in the right place, go turn the engine over a few times with the key switch. If cousin Billy Bob flops around like a fish, then the wire is good. If he just stands there blinking his eyes at you slowly, then the wire is bad.... This way of testing plug wires is much more fun, but if cousin Billy Bob is very bright you may need a few more cousins to be able to test all of your wires.

Good video, thanks for the tips. I am having a no spark issue. I needed to learn how to test my spark plugs and wires.
I've been doing mechanics since i was a kid and you man are pretty great keep it up I'm 17 and still learning thanks for some tips
Daaaaaang, u are a seasoned mechanic
excellent video man! very to the point and helpfull
Thank you so much brother!! This is a great video and learning so much from your videos! Thanks again for taking the time for these videos!!!
+Brian Rogers np, thanks for taking the time to comment. cheers
The best thing you did . Spraying water on the wires . It's a quick test

what happen if you connect the spark plug directely to the coil connector. why do you have to maintaine some distance ?

Is there a recommend mileage to change the wires?
look at the wires in the dark, it worked for me.

what if one spark plug wire is sparking faster than another?? should all wires be sparking at the same speed while the car is running?
hey how's it going do your self selfers...I've tried to listen to your intro several times.. I finally got it today... hey... don't bl

Its because your Kia has a crappy Hyundai engine in it, and died long ago I assure u.
how to check ignition coils and wires with just a screw driver and wire
Cool
30 bucks that's what your plugs and you could take each plug out and put it in a mower and see if your mower fires up. Quicker n easier

hahah
Your video is so interesting but I couldn’t get it
I never saw you testing the spark plug wire
He did something I couldn't follow.. is it me or it wasn't straightforward
why complicated urself... if u can just buy a inline spark tester..
