- Tired of reaching behind a hot grill (BBQ) to turn off the propane tank? I used the flexible driveshaft from a weed eater and a few 3D printed parts to extend the knob to the front of the grill.

That is a cool idea. I've thought of just cutting a hole in the front shroud of the BBQ, but that flexible shaft is a slick solution!
Pure genius. Patent it, sell it!
More videos on the business venture would be awesome.
You should turn the tank off first and then let the burners go out on their own before you turn off the burners at the grill. This accomplishes two things: 1) You know the tank is closed; 2) you dont leave your rubber hose pressured up with propane
Exactly. An old landlord, who was also a Fire Chief, used to insist we did the same thing.
Brett Smith Hey, that's smart! I also thought about the problem of pressure and shaft failure, but didn't come up with such a simple solution👍
Another multimaterial idea is being able to print in a dissolvable filament for supports, with actual model being non-dissolvable! :D Great video man! Keep it up!
Hi Mike and Lauren That is Awesome I like the nob extender
This is a pretty genius idea!
Great idea! Reaching in/around that bottle can be much more than an "inconvenience"....I pulled mine out mid-winter once and found a (dead at that time) bee's nest right beside the knob. A few months earlier and that would've been a big problem! Thanks!
You have a beautiful family, very blessed.
Cool solution, I'm lazy and leave the propane tank on.
Brilliant
Holy crap that's brilliant!
My concern would be how firmly it closes the valve, but I am also very cautious when it comes to explosive gases. I prefer wood burning or charcoal.
I’ve never done this. I have yet to die or lose gas trusting the knobs at the grill. I run with scissors too. Gas is at so little pressure the paranoid turn off/on constantly is so unnecessary. Go for it, you won’t regret it.
Sweet!
Diaper w/ tennis shoes is my go-to outfit.
Haha I'm sure it's a hit
You should sell that idea. You did great.
My grill has the tank off to the side so it is easy to reach, I have not seen one that sits that far back. Good idea to solve the problem.
nice
MVP
Might want longer wedges to make it easier to change the cylinder
I'll take two!!
Now I finally have a reason to buy a 3d printer!!! Thanks.
;--)
+DP ie haha no problem!
The most attractive function of Buddy Couple is the mixed color printing.
If heat is a concern you may be able to paint the knob with grill high temp paint.
Your son is going to hate you when he grows up, purely because of that clip.
With gas bottles you only need to crack the valve. It's designed so you can "quickly" shut off the gas in a emergency. Look great though
Handy tip, you really only need to open the valve slightly should save you some turning...
Until this video it has never occurred to me to turn the gas off at the bottle after using the grill. I have been using propane grills for 20+ years and never had a problem. Sounds like a solution to a non problem. But if it makes you feel better then go for it. Great channel though.
i just set the tank next to the grill. that way i dont have to reach behind the grill for anything.
Now replace the tank!
Don’t burn the house how.
Lol lol he said knob extension...
I am sooooo mature what can I say.
He gets about 3 emails a month about 3d printers. I get about 3 emails a day about knob extensions.
hey

What a horrible grill design not having access to the tank shutoff from the front.
+The World of Scott it definitely wasn’t well thought out.
