- Exploit, obvious, or exceptional, you tell me? Just a short career intro video showing you how to start at the beginning of the war in the port of Kiel with a Type IIA training boat for your crew's first mission.
Veteran players know that there are no options to start at Kiel with a Type IIA boat... right?
TLDR: the quick answer is at 5:00
New Startup Options:
So after you earn your first blueprint you could upgrade directly to a VIIC if you want. ...or you make your own roleplay decisions about when you are allowed to upgrade and it just costs you $2000 to switch subs at the warehouse.
I take out the IIA for my first "Training Patrol" then I switch to the IID for my first assigned command, when Scapa Flow becomes available (Oct 1939) I roleplay that Donitz was impressed with my first 2 missions, wants to offer me a VIIB command if I'm willing to attack the Royal Oak.
If we manage to pull it off, we keep the VIIB, finish Tonnage War and have the option to upgrade to a VIIC with the blueprint we earn. Another option might be to upgrade to the VIIB when/if Dontiz leaves you a bottle of champagne.
Thank you man! You are the best, because of you I can finally enjoy the game
😯Wow, thank you. Can't really think of a higher compliment. You are most welcome.
Honestly the best channel for this game. Enjoy litely salted a lot and stumbled upon your channel. Your play style matches the type that I would prefer to play like and I've learnt a lot. Thanks a ton!
You really need to upload more often. Waiting 5 days for video is a long time :))
I've been watching your tutorials and they're super underrated, I love it! I'm looking forward to seeing some gameplay where you put all these tips together, it would be super interesting!
OK, I s'pose I could make an attempt at editing out the boring parts. I think I've covered most of what I might try to apply in at least the first mission of a new career.
@@xljedi2335 To be honest they are not boring this is not an easy game and the fact that you are playing with max difficultly and 0 contacts makes these tutorials valuable. Not seen anything close to as good as this. I too am now playing 100% percent difficulty I do occacional turn darker nights off and on
Fantastic videos thank you very much hope you are enjoying the game as much as I am
This is genius and something that never would've even occurred to me to suspect was possible.
I'm not sure if this is an exploit or an intentional easter egg but I hope they don't patch it out because this should be a valid starting game setup, running with a II until you grab a blueprint then rolling a die to see if HQ gives you a B, C, or maybe in the future a IX to command.
been having a blast playing at 100%; even used your tips in the vector intercept video and got a kill by intercepting a UK ship and using explosives
Outstanding! I'll look forward to reading your patrol report.
When i dont have explosives, i poke little holes with the deck gun 😎
Mircro-managing...like a small business. Das Boot has become...Das Captial. LOL! Cool game. I'll have to take a closer look at this one.
Thanks for the video
Today I tried at least ten times reloading a save on the first Norway mission I think it was. I was in the iiD. I was wondering why it was so difficult...lol. I eventually worked out myself (and confirmed by watching this vid) that it's almost impossible to complete successfully in anything less than a type vii of some sort.
looking forward to how you plot and mark ships in a convoy I came across one with 2 tankers and escorts, decided on a 50 degree attack and focus on only one of the tankers then sneak away rather than trying to hit both tankers simultaneously.
In this game are the torpedoes defective with a high failure rate. Early war defective torpedoes are historically accurrate. Both the US and the Germans struggled with this.
No, they are far more reliable. There are mods that make them fail at a considerably higher rate. Not to say the devs might tweak it in the future, but they also want the game to be fun for me and the other commoners.
It shouldn’t cost anything to downgrade a boat. Maybe the bug is it asking for 2000 credits to downgrade instead of the bug being not removing the credits.
I don't mind the downgrade cost. Makes earning credits to upgrade again a little more relevant. The economy is drastically in need of more credit sinks and balancing in the gameplay loop.
I noticed in the latest patch, the devs included details on the sale when you downgrade! I can see now that you get $2k credit for selling them the deck gun. LOL 😆
type iiA is very hard because of limited travel distance & its even harder if the port is in Kiel. have to be very efficient on managing fuel economy during long patrol. the newer sub have triple better fuel economy
I disagree, I don't think it's all that hard. Watch my Patrol 1 video in a Type IIA. The only thing you need to monitor: From anywhere in the North Sea, do I have 10% fuel left to go home?
I think I made it back to refuel at Helgoland and only used like 4% of my remaining fuel, so 10% is pretty generous. I went out the long way through the Skagerrak at half-ahead (speed 3), chased everything at flank, and still had enough to get home. The Type IIA is well equipped to handle any mission in the North Sea area, and could easily stretch out to reach around Scotland if you didn't chase too many contacts.
@@xljedi2335 thanks for the tip. i will try to use 10% reserve fuel rule
Could the money come from the extra torpedoes being sold?
I did the same transaction previously and saw my credit balance drop from 4k to 2k. …but, maybe?
When does this game release ? Still looks early access !
If you saw it in early access (Sims on a Boat) you might think otherwise. 🤔 I think it's in a pretty good place right now. I do have my criticisms though.
@@xljedi2335 Be good when it is finished in a few years ! :)
What about the other starts ?
For me After 2 start from germany in 39 , i wanna some change , so i start at La Rochelle with the typeIIB. (100% realism of course ^^)
I almost done the first tonnages campaign (called happy days or something like that) but now im in the end of october 40 , and the HQ send me on a rescue mission not on a patrol ^^
I hope it's not to late for get my 40k tonnage, i need the blue print for get my VIIB if im stuck in the IIB for the begin of 41 that gonna be hard 😂
The way I play, I'm probably going to have to rely on some different port starts if I want to see new sections of the map. My longest career so far only resulted in 2 blueprints earned. ...but I've been playing dead-is-dead on 100% and making some really blundering mistakes against ASW patrols.
@@xljedi2335 yes north sea get me sick now 😆 that why i've change.
but even with the typeIIB i'm almost out of fuel when come back to La Rochelle, patrol are way more far in the atlantic now.. and so i can't headflank too much even with full nav (150%) and mecanic +2sailors , it's quite hard to catch convoy with my poor 13knot ^^
I catch one on my first patrol and done +15t but now i can't manage too catch any other convoy after this one 😆 and im stuck at 35/40t and they send to rescue an officer at vigo, if i cant manage to get the blue print before 41 that gonna be harder and harder, i wonder if i not ask for go back in germany mby in the north sea i can catch more convoy
Great content, is it viable to do a first person only play through?
Possibly, I just don't think it would be me that would be doing it. I feel constrained as it is with the UI we have to use.
If your going to label this as a tutorial then please try to structure it a bit better finding it hard to follow. Too much chatter. But, With all that said... I found the video useful and informative.
I don't spend time scripting these things, so yeah my stuff is going to be very conversational. Apologies for the lengthy descriptions and discussion around what I happen to have on my mind while playing. My video style; perhaps not for everyone.
Don't apologise it's your content and not exactly your job so ignore comments telling you to do, be better@@xljedi2335
5 minutes of babling, pleae learn to be concise
Well, if I haven't learned by now, I don't think that's gonna happen. LOL, I would've said 15 minutes of babling.
@@xljedi2335 Well you can fast forward if you don't want to listen. For me it fine
