They're Sub-C cells, NiMH or NiCd chemistry. Same type of cells used in RC cars/trucks for many years. Hobby shops should still carry single cells for pretty cheap.
woww this amazing, i like it, time ago i have a questions, how their can do this but this machine it's the solutions, great job, i study engineering electronics
Put a "LINCOLN" sticker on it and I doubt I would have known it was home made without being told, and even then it would not be obvious. THAT IS DOME DAMN FINE WORKMANSHIP! I want one!
the capacitor, is one of these usen on custom car speakers? because i want to make somehing like this(but worse) and a friend of mine is about to hrow away his one faraday capacitor
great vid love that machine. i just replaced 2 bad cells in my 18v DeWalt battery pack. 15 sub c When i charge my battery im at 20 v. Is this bad? Arent they 1.2 v x 15 = 18v thx
For anyone reading this. Its actually 3.7*5, which is 18.5. But a full charged battery will have a voltage of up to 4.2 volts, so 21v for the entire pack.
Hi Fritz How Are You? I want to assembler this welder but I try download the files in blogspot and not find the files so it possible provide the files for download? thanks Best Regards Celso Marques
I am selling mine if you are interested. You can look at it here frikkieg.blogspot.com/2011/07/capacitor-discharge-welder-documents.html?m=1 Make me an offer
Unfortunately, I have a 14.4 Dewalt pack and the case is fused together, so if you take it apart to replace the batteries you ruin the case. I tried this myself. Oh well, some things you just have to buy, like a new drill. It was cheaper than buying a new battery pack.
Yes, as men of superior intellect...we all seem to agree that the endeavor to repair those shitty DeWalt battery packs over purchasing new ones is to exist as Masters of our own domain, relenting to no one!
+Chuffing Ale There are really lots of other good reasons to have a spot welder. I have no idea why so many people want to make them for battery tab welding. . .
I'm speechless, what a great piece of equipment.
Opening is like the beginning of back to the future.
Really impressed, good job.
What metal [connecting strips] and where can it be obtained?
regards

where do you the the copper hand clamp thing & the 2 copper pen rods???

You using chromium zirconium copper for the contacts? BTW, copper is metal.

Megaseconds... Nice!
Hi there I know it’s probably to late for this welder but I was just wondering bout it , if anyone may know where to purchase one like this one
@Fritz9111 where is your blog?
regards,
kosimov
can u put the electronic circuit plan to build it
Hi Fritz. I suppose I can use it to thermocouple welding, not? Is it easy to assembly it?
How much would this all in all cost to build? I would be considering this strongly...
Nice! Wish I had one of those.
great vid

Nice Job
I wanna build one. I can find lots of uses for one.
Thanks for sharing :O)
how much does it cost to build something like that?
whats the name of that adaptor u r using ?
Yes you can make thermocouples with this welder. You need a good electronic knowledge to build this though
Beautiful, well done.
I'd suggest some kind of aluminium wrapping around the cables, to cancel out the magnetic fields
What voltage and pulse times worked best for the battery tabs? thank you
Gary, all the information about this welder is on my blog frikkieg.blogspot.com
wats the voltage? capacity?
ciao sipuo sapere come e stata costruita
what is the capacitor capacity?

Holy cow, that's fantastic!
With just six more IRFP2907's, you can turn it into a deathray to incinerate your enemies with :P
Are you selling this system ?
do you sell the complete assembled unit?
I am selling mine if you are interested. You can look at it here frikkieg.blogspot.com/2011/07/capacitor-discharge-welder-documents.html?m=1
Make me an offer
how many µF
so thats how people weld metal to batterys in those 4.5 v batteries as example
what does 'Ms' means? Mega seconds???? :):)
Anyone build one and have it for sale?

That's very funny !!
