I grew up in a small town and was pretty closed minded as a kid until a girl moved to town from New York and brought his stand up shows with her. I remember sitting in her living room and laughing my head off and just having my mind blown. Love him to this day and I'm a better person for having encountered his comedy.

I know, @Sarah Celik, and I speak as someone who was born in Plymouth....not the one in the U.S.A. but the real one. Add to this the confusion when I tell people that I lived most of my life in Manchester....once again the real one and not the one that the Americans stole from us. Conversation between myself and your typical American.
American: " Where were you born? "
      Me: " Plymouth. "
American: " Oh, Plymouth in Massachusetts? "
Me: " No, the real one. "
American: " Duh, okay then where have you lived most of your life? "
      Me: " Manchester. "
American: " Oh, Manchester, New Hampshire? "
Me: " No, Manchester in Greater Manchester. You know, the real one again! "
American sighs, gives up and goes off and hangs himself.
Me: " It's a good job that I didn't tell him about my relatives who live in Derby, Boston in Lincolnshire, Edmonton in London or those in Birmingham, isn't it? It could've got even messier a lot sooner, couldn't it? "

gods!!!! i loooove Eddie Izaard! he’s the funniest guy around. he just cheers me up all the time. in 18xzxby he does that all the time and it’s always funny! why is he so funny! cause he’s “pretty”, has a great voice and a great delivery, intelligent so the material is great! and now that he doesn’t wear eye makeup anymore, he’s even better looking. love you, Eddie, sweetie :} 😼✨✨✨✨🎭

    TRUE STORY!
i grew up in !MER!KA! (tm) and introduced people to Ms Izzard. i too consider myself an action transvestite and a minor history buff. during this skit we had to pause and explain most ov this to the people i was with.
at the end they respected transvestites because they thought that being pretty in a dress some how was linked to understanding history at a competant level.
