What are some other common keywords for Task 2? What do you think are their 'close' and 'loose' synonyms?
👍🏻
It's hard to find synonyms for the word 'people'...
There are individuals, folks, citizens, residents, some, many, etc...
But, as a foreign learner, it is hard for me to understand whether they're 'close' or 'loose'...
Best video before my exam🤟
Very informative and helpful 👍
What about students?

Really appreciate how you don't beat around the bush like other IELTS teachers on RUclips. Others just want to lure the viewers into buying their courses without giving them a reason to trust their teaching style whereas you're selfless and lead by example. Every video of yours contains such valuable yet simple information. Straight to the point. That's the only reason I keep coming back to your videos whenever I have to renew my IELTS score. Your lessons helped me score 7.5 in writing 2 years ago. Hoping to score 8 - maybe even more, who knows - this time.
Thank you very much, Chris!!
You're most welcome, Pratik and congratulations on getting a band score of 7.5 on your previous attempt. If you need help in the future, you know where we are.
is it necessary to use so much vocabulary to make an essay of higher bands. can't we just express our ideas in simple language just by using some connector's and i personally face lot's of problem in TASK 1 because. I don't have that much connectors and i can only write in simple Language. so basically i just want your advice?
All your videos helped me to get 7.5 in writing. Thank you so much. Best writing teaching channel I must say.
Great job! Good luck in the future! If you ever need any help in the future, you know where we are.

Hey can you please tell how you improved your speaking I am stuck at 5 bands
What's so beautiful about writing dialog is that you can use any of these terms - keywords or their synonyms - when and where you choose. It all depends on the character in the story. It's like lyrics in songs - anything goes...
We need more videos like this. It was helpful 🙂

Thank you Chris! Gotta need more of these videos. Also, I think another very common word usually found in Writing tests is "teacher". Do you have any suggestions about loose and close synonyms for said term?
Why not use the principles we teach in this lesson to find them yourself?
@@Ieltsadvantage According to my knowledge, the loose synonyms that are frequently mistaken for "teacher" are "mentor, trainer, coach" and the close ones are "pedagogue, educator, schoolmaster/schoolmistress", though I am rather cynical about the validity of the final 2 words due to them sounding a little bit overly academic.
@@absurdmemes3732 I would say educator is the only close one that's appropriate. Remember, you don't have to give many; just show the examiner you are aware of them. There will be other words you can vary to show range too.
@@Ieltsadvantage Much appreciated Chris!
Thanks a lot, you are the best teacher, and we are lucky to have you.
Mr Chris I'm really appreciate what you doing definitely worth 10 /10

Well done!
Dear Mr. Chris,
I want to express my gratitude for your excellent IELTS English lessons on RUclips. Your dedication to helping learners like me is truly appreciated.
I noticed a small typo in this video. The word "nowadays" was spelled as "nowsadys." I thought I'd mention that this particular spelling isn't listed in the Cambridge Dictionary. I believe it's just a minor oversight, and I appreciate your understanding in this regard.
Your commitment to accuracy greatly contributes to the effectiveness of your teachings. Looking forward to more valuable lessons from you!
Best regards,
He did say in the video that it was misspelt. He was giving an example of a wrong spelling.
Really very interactive teaching style
Mr Chris, i really love your videos, those r very useful and ur teaching is awesome. It's simply understandable and easily grab the content in the lesson, an Indian students used to do these mistakes in ielts exam, so, now we r correcting our mistakes through ur videos. Love from India, thanks alotttt😍❤️😍
Great to hear!
Can we use the term association for company
Thanks for the advice! Btw, I have an exam coming up next month and started practicing through the official site. In one of the listening exercises where you have to fill in the missing text I had written "don't have" and later it was marked as incorrect. Instead of written abbreviated, the correct answer was written " do not have". I was really surprised.
Hi Chris, great video as always! I just have one question. The two words "juveniles" and "minors", according to my knowledge, are usually used in law or similar formal contexts, so should I use these words to replace "children" in all of my essay? Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much Chris, this was very detailed and clear to understand. My IELTS is in 8days and I’m really glad that I came across this video. Wish me the best🙏🏼

Nice video sir, 90 % of students in India do these mistakes, should I use the same in university writing??
You do not have to demonstrate as wide a vocabulary at university, but you should be as accurate as possible. In other words, don't get too fancy or try to show off.
Thanks, sir @@Ieltsadvantage
Here our trainer ask students to use these loose synonyms and I also use these words before watching this video like masses, youngsters and nowadays 😐😐. Thanks for this video 🙏🙏

The word "firm" has multiple definitions, not just the one you used in this video. So it can be used as a proper synonym for "company".

How about switching "people" to "persons"? That should fly right?
I would avoid teaching students that because most will make grammar mistakes if they use that.

Dear Chris, what are the best synonyms to the young people? Is the youth OK? What else can we use?
Youngsters
juvenile
@@mandipsinhd7368 I don't think using the word "juveniles" is appropriate for this certain context because I feel like using this word is better suited for situations that include animals as the main topic.

Presently means the same as at present - currently. :)
Hello sir,
Can we use infants word for children or forerunners and upbringers words for parents in writing?
I was thinking of that word myself; 'infants'. Which I believe encompasses the entire prepubescent demographic. But not all children are prepubescents! As for 'forerunners', this is a synonym of ancestor/antecedent. Which refers to those that have come before us; but does not necessarily grant the status of parenthood. Whereas, 'Forebearers' and 'Progenitors' are perhaps more precise in this regard but are probably considered too academic and sesquipedalian in use.
Thank you! I’m glad, I’ve found you!

Child: a young human who is not yet an adult
Youngster: a young person or a child
