Reminds me of my Cavern lunch time sessions at the Cavern, when all the bands, including the Beatles where all doing cover versions, of songs the Cunard Yanks brought back to Liverpool, from New York. To become the most covered band in history. Thank you New York, from across the pond in Liverpool.😊 Request if anyone ever gets to Arlington Cemetery, please put a flower for my friend John Shell who was the bass player with a band called The Hideaways, the only band who played the Cavern more times than The Beatles, he was only 20 when he got killed in Vietnam, volunteered from here in Liverpool to join his GI Dad’s countries Army. He was about to become a Dad and his bride to be, became a Widowed Bride. A really lovely guy, he was.

I know it’s been going on for years, I get that. I remember well the night it happened I’ll never forget it- it’s my “JFK moment”. All I can think of when the date approaches is that I don’t want to see it rehashed again and again year after year. October 9 is perfect for this. December 8? I just can’t.

I completely understand and go through these feelings, myself. However, this is a bit of a healing. Every October 9 and December 8 people from all 4 corners of the earth make a pilgrimage to see where John lived and to pay their respects. Many people I have encountered from Asia, Europe, S. America, etc., say it is very healing to sing along and feel that John is present when they do so. Remember, there were crowds in the thousands gathered around the Dakota that horrible night in Dec. 1980, crying and singing John's and Beatles' songs, not out of joy obviously, but out of reverence.
