Winter camping, like bushcraft, is much more interesting to watch, for me personally, it is a special atmosphere of nature and what is happening in the frame. Difficult weather conditions create a feeling of comfort when a fire is burning or a stove is heated in a tent or a shelter built.
Well shipmates, as i sat shivering at the sight of minus upon the thermometer, in my warm comfortable apartment, this camper in the frigid north brought to mind an advertisement i clipped from a magazine many decades ago; it was of a man standing in a great full length fur coat in the Yukon. the caption read " I have clinched and closed with the naked north, I have learned to defy and defend: Shoulder to shoulder we have fought it out -- yet the wild must win in the end." It was an ad for Yukon Jack whisky and this mans experience reminds me of that scene.
