So glad this came up in my recommendations. I grew up in Boston. Dad died when I was young. I put all my attention into playing guitar and bass instead of getting in trouble once he passed. I made a living as a musician. Hung with members of the Cars and Aerosmith. I’m that old. It’s so refreshing to see young people like yourself discovering and playing music from before your time. Hopefully future generations will do the same. ❤️

Just like in most art, music history is all important. These new artists can build on the knowledge of the greats before them just like the bands of the 60s and 70s learned from the amazing jazz and blues players that they idolized. No form of art lives in a vacuum. Celebrate the past and learn from it. And Roaming Gnome....seems like you learned quick. Took a tragedy and turned it in to a joyful life. That's something to celebrate.

My old college roommate in Colorado was from Chestnut Hill and he used to see Aerosmith when they were playing at a roadhouse in New Hampshire. One cold rainy night when I had an exam to study for he dragged me to Tulagis to see some chick singer I'd never heard of who turned out to be Bonnie Raitt. Now I am thinking how sweet to hear Allison cover one of Bonnie's songs.

In the age of recorded music carbon copies of performances are redundant. Instead the aim becomes reinterpretation, usually most successfully when it shows the performer's and arranger's personality and art - as in this fantastic version.

Hi Will, did anyone ever tell you that joy comes from within? You may want to speak to a therapist if you are missing out on "hearing" some joy today. Personally Taylor Swift brings me plently of joy. I sure hope when I'm older I don't preach doom and gloom and look down on the younger generations by saying bullshit like "I just don't hear joy on the radio anymore" whine whine whine. Yes things changed since the 1950s, but joy still exists, just as it did before the 1950s. I just pray it will exist for you as well, even if you walk in a store and hear some modern rap, pop or rock n roll.

@G Guest Hi there, yeah I guess it's not that nice. As you know, I didn't say it, but I agreed mainly with the fact that there is an ugly trend of getting tatted and wasted at a young age here in America, not that everyone adheres...
Rather than being intended as some kind of mean attack, I think it was more just Dr. Lex Winter's way of lamenting what has become of young American women, and this spicy comment, as callused and tasteless as it may seem, is probably intended, somewhere at its core, to discourage Miss Young from following the same path. I'm not currently aware of what this is called in psychology... but I'm sure you know what I mean.

It's important for people to understand how much work goes into making a video like this. Allison has to film multiple parts for the instrumentation, for the backing vocals, for the clapping, for the whistling (x2), and so forth. And there will likely have to be multiple takes because mistakes happen. Then she has to edit and mix the music it all together. And then she has to edit the videos all together. It probably took many, many hours to make just an almost four minute video. It's a great payoff, but it's a lot of work.
Allison: Regarding your lack of oxygen at the end, you did increase the tempo of the song from Buddy Holly's version, so that is the likely major contributing factor. Amazing cover, regardless, and thanks for all the work you put into this.

Pomplamoose is still great, of course, but I do miss those old videos they used to make. They weren't particularly cost effective, though. It's why Jack made Patreon, after all.
