Hate to sound like an “old head”, but non of these cars are close to its former selves, in terms of build quality, reliability, and so on. That said, I am trying to decide between a ‘23 Accord EX 1.5t and a Camry. Per your experience, do you still see the 1.5t engine as too risky of an option? I can’t argue with your “old head” theory. Your completely right. So right now I’m having the same issue. I was sitting in a drive-through and all of a sudden all my lights popped up. I checked my radiator and it was empty. Once I refilled it the next day, I took it to get a diagnostic, and it said that I needed a tuneup and cylinder to. Got all that changed. My lights were off, but it still was not holding coolant. So I took it to Honda and they said a blown head gasket. But it hasn’t shown any symptoms of a blown head gasket. No milky oil, it’s not running hot, and no white smoke coming out of my exhaust. I have a 2020 accord sport and I noticed a weird condensation like build up on the bottom of the rear view mirror. It seems to be getting slightly bigger with time and I only had the car for about a month. Not sure what’s causing it but it’s trapped within the mirror itself. Do you think a bumper to bumper warranty will cover the repair/replacement of this? I hope it will.
What is causing the steaming of the windows and mirror is the plastic that the dashboard is made of is gassing off fumes and it sticks to the glass! Plastic is made out of petroleum products, and when you park the car in the sun and it gets really hot inside with all the windows rolled up it causes it to release gasses that acts like super glue when you heat it. Watch the detectives when they are looking for things like fingerprints or other evidence and they heat the super glue causing a film to cover everything that is near it! That is the same thing that the plastic pieces in your car is doing when it gets hot inside! A real pain in the ass to remove it! 😉

I did look at the 1.5T but is high on its insurance premium for what it is, and i am glad i went for the 3 cylinder 1.0T engine (im sure you guys dont get that powertrain in the US) instead that sounds like a mini-V6 and its a hoot to drive and has never missed a beat.
Nice, thanks for the input. For sure we do not get the 1.0 here as it probably wouldn’t had sold until 6 months ago when due prices sky rocketed.
@@BCautosolutions hey man thanx for reply 👍
Yeah The 1.0T 3 pot is only 130bhp unit and is no speed demon by any means but its surprising how quick it is for the size of engine and for what chassis they put it into.
Its the P10A2 988cc 12v
i-vtec earth dreams.
My old Accord is on RUclips and is up for sale at garage/lot.
We havent had the new civic in the UK yet and as far as i believe it wont be released for sale untill November?
What do you get out of the .1.0 average mpg?
You should be worried about the 1.0T in the civic as it's a non Honda engine. Almost all 1.0T in Germany have or will have a failure due to timing belt running in oil (like ford ecoboosts 1.0T) which will clog the oil sieve and the engine will experience hot spots. Most of the time the turbo is failing and cylinder 2 too.
2018 accord 1.5t 107,000 miles no problems, oil changes every 3500 miles recently changes spark plugs
Awesome, love to hear that. Best of luck going forward.
I have a 2018 1.5 touring I did get my fuel infectors replaced due to malfunction at 55k miles they come with 150k miles warranty in CA
Thanks for sharing
It's the same for me I bought the car and the first two weeks have to get the fuel injectors change 800 for that now I think I'm having problems with my fuel pump
Does anyone knows if can change the license plate light from the 1.5 sport with the license plate light of the touring wich has the switch to open the trunk? Or doesn't it work? Anybody tried this?
To be clear what your asking is if you can add a truck switch from a touring on a lower trim? It wouldn’t be worth the cost.
Something to add the 1.5t has the Auto-Start/Stop, where the 2.0t does not. Just waiting for the day that you have to start replacing the Auto-Start/Stop crap.
you're wrong, my 2019 1.5t sport doesn't have the auot-start/stop.
@@ridah1850 Oh, sorry I thought the 1.5t Accord had start stop. My bad.
@@sn4rl277 no worries. I think the auto-start/stop started in 2020 for the 1.5t, so you're semi correct.
@@ridah1850 The first time I saw the interior of the 1.5t accord I was like "why is there a gear shifter" . I have seen so many 2.0t's that I just thought the 1.5t didn't have a physical gear shifter. LOL
Always turn it off when you drive and you won’t have a issue
I heard cvt and no vtec when they first came out, and never wanted one sincehl haha. I'm curious if you see any issues with the 2.0t though?
The 2.0s are mechanically sound. I’ve had 2 bad turbo on 1 of them (brand new car) most likely defective right from the manufacturer. The other issues that aren’t engine/trans specific still apply obviously, but In general the 2.0 is a much better engine and those 10at seem to take some pretty great abuse.
@@BCautosolutions I guess bad turbo isn't a bad thing, just a good excuse to upgrade. I was curious about those sensor issues, but glad to hear it's a simple fix.
Also, im in the market for an accord sport 2018- and I’m a college student what would you recommend? (1.5Ts seem the most affordable atm)
If you do get an accord with any 1.5t I would highly recommend purchasing from a Honda dealer and purchasing Honda care extended warranty.
@@BCautosolutions thank you!
Honda and warranty don't belong in the same sentence. Just buy Toyota/Lexus if you're even thinking of a warranty. I bought my Lexus IS350 with 105k 10 years ago and I now have 182k. No major issues other than wearable items.
@@JB-dv7ew I got a decent warranty from a CPO Accord at a decent price. Not going to be a long term vehicle because in a few years or so I want to look into getting a redesigned compass or RAV 4 when they come out. PA weather needs suv or 4x4 for long term.
do you know a fix for the hood flutter (vibration)
Try tightening the adjusters possibly?
Bro I have the basic model and recently it started doing a “whooshig “ noise like if it had turbo. Anyone know what it can be ?
They all have turbos
@@BCautosolutions mine wouldn’t do that tho ..that’s why I’m a lil concerned
How about a crankshaft seal leak on a very low mile 1.5 2018
Not common but it can happen
@@BCautosolutions excuse me, I believe I meant camshaft. I have leaks I see on the ground every time I back out of garage and park on driveway. It’s either on the middle or driver side by the time it makes it to the cement. Thanks
@@timweb1510 there is a black thin 3 bolts cover on the exhaust camshaft (cylinder 4 side) that typically we see plenty of leaks. I would start with that. Don’t bother resealing. They bend removing só a new one will be needed.
Will this be the same for the one's in the Philippines
Possibly yes
I don't know about all these issues, I'm at 49k atm, and I haven't had these issues yet, but it seems like it's mainly the sports model that many have issues with. I didn't get the sport model and I've driven to a lot places cross country and haven't had any issues yet. But, I also think it's location of where you live, how you maintain the car, and how you drive the car. But, once I hit 50k I'll see if I have those issues mentioned.
Hey man appreciate the input. These aren’t particularly going to happen to everyone but these are what I’m currently seeing as the most common. The biggest issue and most costly is the headgasket.
@@BCautosolutions How much does it typically cost?
@@JB-dv7ew 1-3k
@@BCautosolutions Damn I was looking at these cars but might have to cross it off the list. I have an 07 Lexus IS350 with 180k and its been bullet proof. I'd to find that in one of these econo cars. I like the IS but they're to expensive, have low MPG, and require premium fuel.
@@JB-dv7ew is take a look at 13-17 accords. Much more solid 👍🏻
Car just hit 70K miles. 3 months ago I started having issues for the first time. Cylinder 2 misfire... P0302... replaced spark plugs and ignition coils... autozone brand though... 2 months later...2K miles... code pops up again P0302... replaced battery thinking it would be the issue... Warning lights appear for 3-5 days then disappear... then reappear again after a shaky start... low compression? Ever since the issues have been popping up I've noticed when I turn on my car it sounds like a liquid is being drained near the dash... never heard that noise until recently... coolant levels are steady...
Most likely injectors or head gasket
Hey I bought 2018 1.5t touring model at 30k miles and I'm at 48k miles now. I have had to change my brake rotors and pads and engine oil and about to do transmission oil. Is there anything I should also change at this point? I'm really scared about the head gasket as I've never heard these problems when I bought it.
I also had front strut issues and all my wheels are slightly bent. Its my first car and was wondering if cars usually have this many issues?
@@sadmanbakht hey, so keep up with the maintence is the best advise i can give you. Yes the rotors warp faulty essily. Keep an eye on your coolant level as that’s the first signs of trouble (quickly dissapering from res/radiator)

For these 1.5 t engines, would driving them strictly in ECON mode make the difference, along with 91+ octane?
Use highest octane rating you can...I'm in UK and our lowest is 95 , no headgasket issues on mass over here
So, you’re not buying the 1.5t, period, if you were in the market? I have been such an Accord loyalist, that I’m still tempted to get a 2024 Accord EX, despite the concerns. But, my pockets ain’t deep, so I have to spend wisely.
I would stay away or at the very least purchase extended warranty (Honda only, no aftermarket ones)
Looking at used Accords. How, as a non-mechanic, can I tell by looking at it if the head gasket is bad? I'm talking on the lot. Only way is to bring it to a mechanic? Freaking pain in the ass but I guess I should be doing that anyway. Thanks for the video. No car is perfect
I’m going to make a video on that very soon. Easy way to tell is cold start misfire and low coolant in reservoir and radiator. Also aftermarket coils is a big indicator.
@@BCautosolutions if you make that video, be great to see what an aftermarket coil looks like. If easily identified. Do you thin kI should stay away from the Accord all together as a used car? Just a crap shoot like any other used thing. Thanks .
