Either that or, if she appears in S6, Julie Pierce. I've felt even back in S3 that Julie would be the perfect one to get Sam and Tory on the same page, as she's Miyagi-Do (like Sam) and she was a teen with anger issues (like Tory).

He is OBVIOUSLY NOT playing favs. He didn't just prevent the girls from fighting. He stopped the fight AFTER he learned what happened to Tory. He might be a father to Sam but he is also a teacher. And a real teacher sees all their pupils as their children. He cares about Tory. Regardless of who she was going against, he would have stopped the fight. But ok, lets say Daniel was indeed playing favourites. What about Amanda, who was the first to connect with Tory? Sam said she wanted to fight, but not when Tory was at this fragile state. Heck, even Robby told her to give it a moment. Everyone was telling her the timing was bad. Then Johnny escalated the situation with his "are you sure?" question, instead of trying to calm Tory down and show her that he DID understand how she was feeling. In the end Tory left out of frustration, and abandoned the only people who treated her like family...
