the first i see someone talk about stream from the deck i was like "who the fuck want that" and today i'm here, just trying to help and share my emulated games with my friends in discord
Capture card free setup. Streaming or recording the Deck without performance impact of OBS, allowing me to go all out with OBS quality on my laptop Or for MnK play if you don't have a Dock I also want to use Steel Series Sonar, but they got no Linux support.. So, if I stream my deck to my PC, I could use that. In theory, anyways. I don't have wireless headphones, so I'd have to sit at my desk for that
For anyone wanting to run this in window mode; Find the where the exe is located, create a new shortcut and Add --windowed in the Target box. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam Link\SteamLink.exe" --windowed
I wouldn't have known about Steam Link without your video. Glad there is another way to play my Steam Deck on my laptop, I was thinking of getting a new monitor but this is really useful.
Theoretically, can I use my high-powered linux PC on my mac via Steam Link? Can you explain desktop mode a little better when it comes to using the same keyboard and mouse? How does switching from the steam link stream to your main pc work? Is there a windowed and fullscreen mode that can be toggled for steam link?
Whilst the steam link app is open on your Mac, the keyboard and mouse will control the steam deck. If I recall, I you can minimise and use the keyboard and mouse to control the PC/Mac.
So, as the Steam Link app has been terminated on November 30th 2023, what other options do we have to wirelessly cast the screen of the Steam Deck to a TV? Does Chromecast work?
The steam link app hasn’t been terminated. It’s just not available on Samsung TVs. You can just use an android TV box, or even just buy a steamlink box for peanuts
Does it show as connected on both pc and steam deck in the remote play settings? Sometimes I’ve found it doesn’t connect, but usually a quick restart of the steam deck usually sort it.
Glad to see streaming from the Steam Deck is possible. I bought the OLED version fairly recently and have never streamed any game successfully. Doesn't streaming work anymore in the latest version? Or could it just be me?
Close steam on your PC and open the steam link application. If your two devices are linked then you can go into your library (from the deck) and play any games you have installed on your PC. Instead of installing the game go to the right side of the instillation/play button and click on the sideways arrow. Then you should have the option to stream the game from the PC onto the Steamdeck
Looks like the windows Steam Link app isn't available anymore. But isn't it possible to just do this via Steam now? (Don't have a Deck yet so can't test)
Does anyone else have any trouble connecting to the deck through steam link? It says my deck is available for connection but it drops while im connecting and ask that if i have steam running on my deck which i do. My pc is connected through ethernet and my deck has full wifi bars. Please help
Hey, I’ve been using this method for a while, but lately I got an OLED. The screen looks so good, since there’s no Remote Play host support on the Deck, it got me wondering how to forcefully increase the desktop resolution of Steam Deck so that it outputs a higher resolution stream for the client device. Wish you could answer.
Couldn't find a link to Steam Link like the video says but I did manage to find it myself from a link to an external site through Steam itself, long story short.
Unfortunately, when you are streaming from the Deck the resolution is set to 800p (Deck's Native res), which usually results in a poor image. I tried but I couldn't change this.
Even if it could could output higher res, the game would run like crap - it is only a handheld after all. I find it perfectly fine for occasional use, but my main use case is when in desktop mode. I hate using the touch screen so this makes it so much easier.
@@steamdeckguyOk, but for gaming I think the Deck can play some titles in higher resolutions, with good results. Like 1080p or even 1440p. And maybe some AAA ones too (with some extra config).
Just wondering, is it possible to use the steam deck as JUST a controller for my pc, so for example I wanna use my pc’s hardware to play the game I want but instead of using MnK or a ps4/ps5 controller via Bluetooth can I just connect the steam deck to Bluetooth and just play the game the same way I’d just connect a console controller?
I know this is a year old video but I'm having an issue. Once I download a game to my SD, I no longer have the ability to stream that game from my PC. Any way to fix this? I want the higher quality and better battery life streaming from home, but portability as well when away from home.
Yes, but there will be some lag with games. My use case is for setting up emulation etc on the deck, without having to use a Bluetooth keyboard or connecting to the steam deck directly. I also use it to capture steam deck gameplay for my channel wirelessly
I got the remote play from my steam deck to my mac all worked out.. is there a way so that the gameplay only shows on the mac and not the steam deck also? Thanks
I paired the Steamdeck with both the smart TV and the Mac mini, no problem. When I start streaming, the Steamdeck restarts. Anyone know how to solve it?
@@steamdeckguy I have not found a fix. I did try to delete additional settings but nothing really fixed anything. I've been using an xbox controller as a workaround
If you are trying to use steamlink on PC to access steam deck make sure steam is closed on the PC. Also, I’ve found sometimes it’s steamlink is not very reliable, and often won’t connect for no reason. Usually a restart of the steam deck sorts it out 👍
But what about the other wat around? Can the desktop be displayed on the Steam Deck? I have a Steam Link machine that I use exclusively to stream my desktop to my TV to watch RUclips on. Is that still something I can do, or should I just keep using that aging hardware?
I have a question. I play modded Stardew Valley on my PC and will soon have a Steam deck. Can i use this method to play my modded Stardew Valley PC save without adding the mods on my Steam Deck ?
So I'm trying to this for my HYPERSPIN. It works! Well... At least until it comes to controls. I mean the controls work on the front end of HYPERSPIN. However, once I boot a game controls are non-existent. I tested multiple games with the same results. When setup the actual emulator for stream the controls work well! Any reason why it won't work through HYPERSPIN?
I tried this myself a long time back, but never got it to work. There is probably a workaround, but unfortunately I no longer have it installed. Let me know if you do figure it out!
You don’t need to install steamlink to do that. I’ve not tried it, but you should be able to add destiny as a non-steam game to steam on your pc, and then play it from your steam deck using streaming (as I showed in the first part of the video)
