    It's bullshit these car companies are so greedy that they would let these cars rot rather than give them to needy families

    • @Auction_Insider
      @Auction_Insider  Год назад +234

      It’s not about them being greedy, they are ALL about safety and looking out for the bottom line! If you have 1500 cars out there and 1000 catch fire it doesn’t look good for stock price or the image of the company. Then the law suits to follow. You have to think beyond the video and realize that BMW doesn’t want to take a loss on any of these cars either and they have done their due diligence in making sure of that.

A stack of brand-new corvettes six high stacked on top of each other!! All to be demolished!!! Apparently, they were test cars. For two sixteen-year-olds it was shocking. That was over 50 years ago. • @bergeracvandamme
    @bergeracvandamme Год назад +40

    I've been working fixing cars for almost 30 years, and I struggle to understand how any amount of "excessive exposure to water, salt and ice" that could occur during the initial storage period (as described in the news article linked to in the description) could result in a car not only becoming unsafe to the point that it's unroadworthy, but doing so in such a way that's impossible to determine without destructive testing.
    Rather than crushing these cars which is an appalling waste, they could have instead just auctioned them off as "Damaged in storage, sold as seen, buyer beware" and then not only would they have recovered some of their manufacturing and shipping outlay, but it would have saved thousands of likely perfectly fixable cars from destruction.
    I find it difficult to believe that any of these cars would have been any more unsafe or any more beyond repair than some of the badly collision-damaged cars I've seen properly repaired and put back on the road.

    • @cmoullasnet

      The real answer is that it's all about money. If you sell 3,000 "new" BMWs at a discount on the secondary market, it reduces scarcity. e.g. it would reduces the amount of money people would be willing to pay a dealer for a new one. Fighting in the courts to be compensated for the full value and then selling new ones is more profitable. Everything is about $$$

    There were about 2,750 BMW and Mini cars stored in open air lots on three sites in Canada.
    In 2015 there was a bad storm and it was frosty and icy, then BMW alleged that the cars were irreparably damaged by the frost and ice (but seemingly all of the previously sold BMW and Mini cars out and about in Canada were just fine and perfect!).
    BMW didn't actually have to show that any car was actually damaged, nor were they able to, and the storage company had around ten cars examined and not one had any faults!
    BMW went to Court claiming 175 Million Canadian Dollars (the combined value of the cars) and they officially issued a Safety Recall to Transport Canada on every single one of them.).
    BMW won their case and ordered every single vehicle to be destroyed!
    There was nothing wrong with these cars, just like there was nothing wrong with any other BMW and Mini cars that stand outside during a spell of bad weather, but in order to get the 175 Million Canadian Dollars, they destroyed them.
    The cars were held for so long because of the dispute between BMW and their storage agent dragged on.
    BMW actually demanded 10, 000 Canadian Dollars A DAY to cover the cost of storing the cars in the run up to the court case... And they got that, too!
    So not only did they crush around 2,750 perfecty good new cars, they also got ten grand a day costs for storing them till the case came to court!
    Talk about wanton destruction, no reselling them for parts, no donating them, just crushing them for profit.
    This is truly sickening, absolutely fucking awful...

      Did you read the article? "Certain vehicles, which were parked at the port of entry in Halifax during the ice storms in February 2015, may have been exposed to excessive standing water and salt for an extended period due to this isolated environmental incident,” said Transport Canada in statement.
      Providing more detail, the government body said there was a risk of corrosion on the starter motor power supply cable connecters on certain MINI models, which could lead to the inability to restart the engine following an engine shutdown by the start-stop (MSA) system, increasing the risk of a crash.
      On certain BMW models, meanwhile, the lubrication of some internal components within the steering rack may have been exposed to excessive water or salt, which Transport Canada said could result in higher than normal steering effort or steering binding, also increasing the risk of a crash.
      It also said that that the exposure of electrical wires and connectors to water or salt on all of the vehicles could lead to increased electrical system resistance, and increase the risk of fire.”
      Transport Canada required the recall. Should BMW pay for something that was not their fault? No, the transport provider that caused it had to pay.

We (in Hfx) got 3x the average snowfall that month (Feb '15), the cars at AutoPort have been delivered to the same spot for 40+ yrs, and NO OTHER MANUFACTURER made this claim... There's 10-15,000 cars at the HFX AutoPort at any given time, from every manufacturer in Europe & Asia, including Honda/Nissan/Mercedes/Jaguar/Rover/Bentley/Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini. Nothing to do with quality for sure IMO. BMW has decades of experience, premium brand, top notch quality control and customer service. Wouldn't let "dangerous" cars out of factory, especially overseas to a very important american market. Also notice the variety of models, engines etc... If this was due to a technical problem, would be a specific model line or a batch. We will never know the truth. Probably has to do with big money/ politics/ greed/ "big interests" or all combined. Brands do recalls for fixing/parts replacing. Not for letting cars rot in the field. (Duh?) 🤔

    • @Auction_Insider
      @Auction_Insider  Год назад +1

      It was transport Canada that said they had to be destroyed. A company like bmw does it’s due diligence, they wanted these cars back on the road. As you can see some have a few thousand miles on them and we’re recalled. These were all inspected by special team from the factory and this is what didn’t make the cut. There were way more cars than this originally. Minis and other bmws.

      @@Auction_Insider transport Canada? Is it trains, ships? Freak Bill Gates owns the Canadian trains.. Wondering if the scammer con had anything to do with it. You know how he destroys food and fertilizer sector, creating man made food shortages and supply chain problems. Basically scamming folks into believing the climate change hoax (puppet Trudeau is in it too), pushing towards net carbon zero, electric cars nonsense etc.. Wondering if it was a part of the automakers push/blackmail.. European car industry/customers were very slow on the whole electric thing until recent. Just a thought. But basically these are kind of methods they use for achieving their agenda.
