In response to how Mario’s that powerful but doesn’t use it against Bowser: To be fair, Bowser himself is a powerhouse.

The thing I like about BoS is that power-levels don't matter in these fights, just erases the logic and gives you ultimate sprite animation to convey high action brain melting battles. We all know that Goku could probably solo the Mario bros, but that will not be good in a viewership stand point, so Spacepea leveled the playing field to up the viewer investment.
I wouldn't say Goku solo the Mario Bros. They would put up a good fight
Goku and Vegeta are the weakest pair in this fight
So Final Flash, especially coming from Blue Evo Vegeta, would have most definitely killed Hyper Shadow, if not heavily injure him and taking him out of Hyper Form. So he had to take off his inhibitor rings to unleash the full Chaos form (something he kept tapping into even with the rings on), but he had never done so in Hyper, hence the birth of Chaos Hyper Shadow (that red form he had). Though the Chaos form gives Shadow immense power, it also causes him to drain power a lot quicker when the rings are off. Also Sonic’s form before Vegeta’s Final Explosion was Dark Hyper (negative emotions on top of the Hyper form).

The power up mario used the white leaf is known as the invincibility leaf grants mario invulnerability. Than you have Chaos Boost Hyper Shadow.
May I also add how funny it is that Shadow is the one fighting Goku and Mario (the number 2 versus the number 1s), while Sonic is fighting Vegeta and Luigi (the number 1 versus the number 2s)? No hate on Vegeta, but we all know that he is considered as such.
