The biggest difference is that most of Aqua's isolation is self brought.
There are plenty of people that want to work with her but she's extremely socially timid and would rather play games by herself most of the time.
Mea is unique in the aspect that they known each other for a long time and can get Aqua to open up and be more natural than she normally is, which is why the Meaqua pairing so popular.

A lot of meaqua is Mea teasing Aqua. The chemistry between the two is popular because it is extremely natural, since the two of them are friends in real life.
I'm currently more focused on letting people understand Mea's own personality for now, but I do have tete meaqua content planned.
I can’t say too much about it because we should not talk about their life before being a vtuber but they were friends for a VERY VERY long time, that’s why their interactions feel so natural, just like two old couples.

Homolive is a parody VTuber group founded by Inuyama Tamaki back in 2018. The name is a reference to Hololive (obviously), but the group is just purely a joke.
There's 4 generations in this groups.
First gen: Inuyama Tamaki, Oda Nobuhime
Second gen: Minato Aqua (poached by Tamaki when Aqua was "graduating" from Hololive. twitter.com/hololivetv/status/1067785642908602369 )
Third gen: Tomari Mari, Kazamiya Matsuri, YYUT
Fourth gen: Kagura Mea, Takatsuki Ritsu, Umori Hinako, Fukuya Master
And Tamaki also contemplating about including Natsuiro Matsuri into fifth generation candidate in the future.
While it's understandable that people use "Homolive" for how close it resembles Hololive, but it kinda sad that how this word might cause disconnection of meme/joke between Japanese and English communities.

"Homolive" never exists at first place. It's just a parody group set up by Inuyama Tamaki, which has nothing to do with actual Hololive. The word "homo" refers to a widespread meme from niconico site. It's hard to explain but basically people parodying about the lines from a series of shoddy gay adult videos. The scene in this clip is also a parody of one of the most well-known scene from those videos.
Those videos are popular here too. Just search gachi muchi on youtube and you'll see a lot of english comments

I said it's hard to explain because this meme culture is far more than just some gay videos. That meme is quite notorious because the people who use it are infamous for involving unrelated things or people in this meme. Also it is said that this meme was based on some kind of cyber-bullying(to the actors of the videos). Though after years most people who use this meme are not likely to be "harmful" and some (like Tamaki) try to use it in a friendly way, but still some people are still disgusted with it.

Only examples I know are Mea here and Sugita (Gintoki) who use dry deadpan verbal irony which is similar to the Brits and it's hilarious.
