As a physical collector I love having a tangible collection of some of my favorite games on the shelf. it gives a feeling of ownership that digital simply cannot give imo. Great list btw & I have Tormented Souls as well and I can confirm it's a great modern survival horror game. highly recommend
I am a bit different. As primarily a digital gamer and pretty stout real estate, equities and crypto investor, I buy physical games purely for guessing which games could potentially sky rocket in value, so basically buy low and then sell high depending on the game. This is an investment in and of itself. It honestly is turning into a fun hobby. Yeah, it is pricey, but the added bonus of holding something tangible is a nice bonus.
I finally got Astral Chain, it's a great game. I'm lucky I got it when I did because now I can't see it anywhere in my area. I had planned to get a sealed copy for the collection, but that won't happen now the price is going to be too high.
13 sentinels will definitely be one of these rare games. I live in a city with 250,000 population, 4 GameStops, and they only got one copy of the game. Guy said they only got shipped what was pre ordered, almost no copies for the shelf. Edit: This was for Nintendo Switch only
Here’s a suggestion, steins gate elite the visual novel. It’s been out for 4 or so years and the price has stayed the same. I can see it shooting up in price in a few years
These quickly became my favorite videos on the channel! I think the US version of samurai shodown is also more expensive because the dlc is tied to the store of the region. Can’t buy dlc in us store and play with Pal copy for example. Love shining resonance refrain, grabbed the draconic launch edition at Best Buy switch and Xbox!
These videos have been good reminders to grab the stuff I’m interested in while I can. Nabbed triangle strategy and bravely default 2 for under msrp and made sure to pre order live a live along with pocky and rocky.
I know this one is a LRG but it MUST be talked about, - The House in fata morgana, i think it got a 97-98 on metacritic recently (almost elden ring levels) and nobody talks about it, another one i see getting rare is YU-NO a remake of one of the first visual novels ever made
I have a feeling that a lot of viual novels on the switch will end up being rare, and thus relatively expensive in the future. There are some really high quality releases such as fruit of grisaia, clannad, raging loop, etc. that not only have English text but are also exclusive to Japan and other Asian regions. Definitely worth keeping an eye on those and collecting them if you are a fan of the genre.
Incredible selection of games! Really amazes me what's been released on the platform (lol, do we even need new games anymore for Nintendo Switch?). One I'd highly recommend is the Klonoa collection which launches July 8th.
I also think Ultra Street Fighter II is rare, is because it’s outta print and it’s a true sequel to Super Turbo, that’s exclusive to switch, can’t get the game anywhere else. Great video.
I found it hilarious that I got Ultra Street Fighter 2 Final Challengers at the same time I got the Switch. It wasn't an expensive purchase. I got it as a gift for my bday, but my brother regretted buying it after he learned about the 30th anniversary Street Fighter. I told my bro that I like my gift anyway. Years later, I thanked my bro for gifting me Ultra Street Fighter because it's so expensive now hahaha.
Another SNK Classic which might go up in price is SNK 40th Anniversary Collection ESRB version. Love to watch your videos on YT mainly about rare Switch games!

I am LIVID I never picked up the Katrielle Layton game when it was like, around $40. I have it on the 3DS but I wanted a Switch copy too but never got around to it and forgot about it and now I regret it because it costs twice as much now. Reminder to everyone to ALWAYS trust your first instinct to get a game you may think you don’t want immediately but will later because you never know when stuff like this might happen.
I’m glad the switch is so free form in that you can get a European version of a game, play it on a US account and use the US dlc on that European version. And in this way I can always gauge when and what copy has the optimal price. Before the Switch came out and I got one I never would have thought things could be that easy with Nintendo in this regard.
Ultra street fighter 2 may be rare but unless you're a hard core fan then enjoyment may very . You're better of picking up Capcom Fighting Collection which comes out in June the netcode might better. Plus your getting 10 games 2 which where never released outside Japan. Plus hyper SF2 is on their even though ultra Is a good game you're better off pre-ordering that Collection instead.
That Undernauts game gives me vibes of old school SMT. Looking for that Neo Geo Samurai Shodown & Collection even if it’s European. Definitely looking at that Pocky & Rocky.
My recommendations for physical copies: - Astria Ascending - it costs something around 20 EUR / USD - Crosscode - again around 20 EUR / USD - Wargroove - 20-25 EUR - Ancestors Legacy - on sale I saw it for like 15 EUR, it's probably the best RTS on Switch * tried to convert PLN (Polish Zl) to EUR / USD so it may be +/- 5 $, but still these are rather cheaper games and I think that they're not that "mainstream", so if you look for something different than the obvious ones, well these are mine recommendations :)
@PlayerEssence how familiar are you with the Shining series? You ever play Shining Force Exa? You want ports of the rest of the series? Do you think ports are likely?
Love seeing the Layton’s Mystery Journey mention!! I loved that game and I wish they would make a sequel to it. The Layton series used to be one of my favorites on the 3DS.
Can’t remember if you’ve mentioned the trails games in a previous episode. I got cold steel 3 on switch at a specialty retro games store for like $80 (Canada so that’s normal full price). Cold steel 4 is cheaper but I can see it going to similar prices in about a year. I also managed to get a physical of dragon star varnir. I believe it was limited run. A fun niche jrpg but I’m pretty sure it’s also pretty hard to find physically
Samurai Shodown was definitely the biggest missed opportunity for me. Resell prices are ridiculous. The SNK 40th collection is out of print and that is going over MSRP as well. Any games from these smaller companies should be picked up asap. (NISA, SNK, XSEED/Marvelous, Atlus)
One game you haven’t mentioned and should look into is Attack on Titan 2 regular and The Final Battle which contains all the downloadable content. I picked up my copy at msrp but a few months later when looking for a copy for my daughter it was thru the roof. Even the versions without English are expensive!
I haven't seen all your vids in he series but I was surprised how much shining resonance was when I was updating my collection on pricecharting. Even the ps4 day one copy is holding value. I would suggest any game inin publishes. I feel like a lot of their games didn't get a huge print run. Games they publish include monster world iv remake, the cotton games like cotton fantasy that is about to come out. Pocky and Rocky has a dope special edition on strictly limited games website. It lured me in with that cute rocky plush.
I appreciate the videos. I don't plan on buying all of the games listed here. I come here for the unique games that I can play and enjoy before they get ridiculously expensive. Most of the games that I see here I'm not interested in, but I was able to find some hidden gems that really enjoy. I also enjoy reading the comments because they mention games that's not on the video's list. I thank the comments too!
Picked up a copy of ANIMA: GATES OF MEMORIES at my local game store for 30 bucks. I've only seen 4 copies sold on pricecharter in the past 2 years....as far as physical rarity goes, I think it has to be up there
I remember buying street fighter 2 for so little money back when the switch released and hated it then sold it for really low money to a game store lol I regret now!
Thanks man. I have now in the last month or so started collecting Switch games. Some are sealed some loose. The sealed games I know I can usually get on eshop. I picked up 2 copies of arms sealed for about $34ea at my local Fred Meyer. They have one copy left I’m debating on grabbing for a future profit.
If anyone is interested in Shining Resonance Refrain, I've seen it for like 8 euros brand new here in Europe, so even with posting fees it's still cheaper than MSRP. Hope that helps someone out there :)
I really don't see games that are not exclusive to the switch, and that have severe performance penalties on the switch, commanding a high price into the future. The reason 3DS games are so expensive was not because they were on carts, it was because of their platform exclusivity. Almost all obscure games on Switch that people are speculating on are also on the PS4, and they run better on the PS4 with higher fidelity assets plus trophies. Not to mention they also play on PS5. Even if we get a Switch 2 that can play Switch games at higher resultions and framerates, you aren't going to see a increase in things like asset quality and fidelity. Once the next gen console comes out the Switch game prices are going to tumble with the only interest coming from speculators and collectors. This idea that carts = lower print run than disc based counter parts is going to be proven wrong this generation as demand for physical based media is going to shrink below that for cart print runs. Not to mention that the best version of the games are often the Japanese versions which include more language options. Games like Katrielles Legacy truely are the games to look out for, low print run, Switch exclusive for the complete version on cart with higher fidelity, a super cheap digital version that is constantly on sale meaning no more physical print runs will ever happen, poor review scores, was a rerelease of an old game that also sold poorly, and was the last game in a franchise that was also a failed spin-off. Games like that don't come around often on the Switch. And I know that you want to make a youtube series out of these games, but pointing to the likes of World End Syndrome when there are games like Famicom Detective Club just doesnt make sense. Especially when the price of World End Syndrome has already shot up.
Square Enix’s Asian-English release of Dungeon Encounters and Romancing Saga 3 (first time ever in English) are good ones. Stay away from the Hong Kong English versions though, they compressed the games to fit smaller cartridges so they look/sound lower fidelity. This hasn’t been investigated very much.
@@MaryyamFatima If memory serves me right i think its gonna be the brown cover with just the name. I think thats the first print. Check out switch watch lets get phyiscal. They go over that stuff.

The pink one is HK and is compressed, so the visuals and sound aren’t as clean. No one has done a side by side comparison however, just word of mouth and comparing file sizes on the cartridges.
@@fartoplata308 lol, welp, I should have done some homework before buying. I just liked the cover art more and bought the pink one. I thought it was just a reprint.

i recently learned of this game called dusk diver. i looked up copies and it doesn't seem to have that many up for sale. also the sequel dusk diver 2 will be coming out in a few months.
I want to make a point. Don't go out and buy a bunch of games if you have no interest in them. I buy games I plan to play and want to have physical copies of. I'm in a couple of group of game collectors and so many people just buy games for the value. It's just dumb to me.

Thank you for continuing this series, my wallet is hurting for sure. People might be interested in the rarity and high cost of Attack on Titan 2 Final Battle.
Thankfully, I have some of these physically... But I'm REALLY upset that I bought Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers DIGITALLY and not physically when it launched! I have a lot of physical copies of other Street Fighter games but I let that one slip right through my fingers!
Head up on Pocky& Rocky Reshrined western version censors a very popular character because of their chest but Japanese version doesn't. As you can already tell this is going to be a Japanese rare physical release.
shining resonance is been on sale on psn tons of times, its also on ps4. Undernauts i just got it on sale on amazon for ps4 physical. This nintendo Tax nonsense is ridiculous. They are riding the wave right now since the switch console has sold so much. They gotta treat their exclusives better, i still cant believe i cannot find a copy of xenoblade 2 thats not over priced.

Unfortunately so much misinformation in this video. Many of these prices are inaccurate and you are often talking about games that have had 100k plus print runs. Most of these games will be plummeting in price in years to come.
You can't get physical games for the Steam Deck, which is the point of this video. Steam Deck is only for people who don't care for having games digitally

Saga scarlet grace
Blue reflections 2
Anima: gates of memories
Legend of Heros: Trails of Cold Steel 3 will be gone before you know. If you're on the fence now you might not want to wait too much longer...
People should buy Valkyria Chronicles 4 physical just because lol
U practically including every Rpg game on switch
Yes get the Pocky & Rocky I bought 2 copies day one Do not forget Cotton SHUMPS either Pulstar is the deal of the week at $4
Thank you for continuing this series, my wallet is hurting for sure. People might be interested in the rarity and high cost of Attack on Titan 2 Final Battle.
Was searching here in Sweden for the titles, found World End Syndrome Day 1 edition for 40 bucks from a store.. guess I'll buy it then 😁
How about Divinity Original Sin II Definitve Edition I've bought it for around 90 bucks 2 years ago since then I've seen it has blow up
Fast RMX needs a physical!
Just managed to snag a copy of Shining Resonance: Refrain for $30. Nice.
Like to see zoids wild infinity blast to see how rare it is
Pikmin 3 is out of print
Thankfully, I have some of these physically... But I'm REALLY upset that I bought Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers DIGITALLY and not physically when it launched! I have a lot of physical copies of other Street Fighter games but I let that one slip right through my fingers!
You should check our AI somnium files if you haven't! Both the switch and ps4 version are becoming super rare
Caligula Effect Overdose
Head up on Pocky& Rocky Reshrined western version censors a very popular character because of their chest but Japanese version doesn't. As you can already tell this is going to be a Japanese rare physical release.
Cadence of Hyrule
Finally going up got 6 copies I think
shining resonance is been on sale on psn tons of times, its also on ps4.
All of the handhelds had the best fighting games on them 😐 TEKKEN and DEAD OR ALIVE on the psp , 3ds , ps vita and the wii u !!!!!! IT IS TIME FOR TEKKEN 7 AND DEAD OR ALIVE 6 TO BE ON THE SWITCH !! THE SWITCH IS BECOMING THE BEST HANDHELD OF ALL TIMES !! AND IT DESERVES THE BEST !!! 😡😤 SO MAKE IT HAPPEN NINTENDOOOOOO !
Doa6 sucked tho.
Rather them drop doa5 complete.
Layton games are all dirt cheap...
*LOL I have too many games, I need to update my excel spreadsheet.*
*As he names the games I immediately put them in my Amazon cart but then turn on my Switch and browse and realize I already own them physically.*
*Also I have the TomToc game case that holds 100 games. And I own 9 of them and 8 of them are packed full so I own at least 800+ physical games, need to order about 5 more of these cases or more if the Switch 2 uses the same size carts.*
*Yeah no wife, no kids allow me to splurge.*
What about DoA xtreme beach Scarlet?
I I heard its a solid game with los of fanservice and in this day and age of SJW ot could become a rare finding down the lime. Also Hades is a solid option
Marvel ultimate alliance 3 i dont recommend this game because the brand will be weak in the future same with star wars
That makes no sense 😂
@@Playeressence take a look at how their shows and movies have been performing its below average at best star wars has been trash for a while the sequel star wars trilogy has tanked the franchise
I wouldn't want these games even for free, safe ur money for actually good games.
That's not the main point...
@@TonyJenn What's the main point?
Stocks and bonds are a better option.
Not the point and you have trouble spelling.
Unfortunately so much misinformation in this video. Many of these prices are inaccurate and you are often talking about games that have had 100k plus print runs. Most of these games will be plummeting in price in years to come.
USA pricing comes to UK later generally
🥇
Guess we forgot that there’s something called steam deck
You can't get physical games for the Steam Deck, which is the point of this video. Steam Deck is only for people who don't care for having games digitally
What does physical value of games have to do with a Steam Deck?
2 min in and still hasnt said a damn thing.
Meh. The weakest lot in the whole “Rare Switch Game” series.
Really, I thought this one was pretty good considering the variety
