    Back in high-school in 1980. My girlfriend and I were sitting at a light in my 1970 cuda when a Vega pulled up next to us with what I thought were two fake 4brl carbs sticking out of the hood. Light turned green and I never saw him again. My girlfriend asked, what was that and I said, I have no friggin idea.

      😂 excellent. Had a similar experience with an AMX. Found out later it ran mid 10s in the early 80s. Was driving a 69 GT Fastback 302 C4 with 4.10 9". Had the exact same conversation 💯🍻🇺🇲

    Haven't seen those gold Moroso valve covers since the 80s. Very cool. Super Shops had em on the wall with blue anodized ones.

    My first car was a 75' Vega GT. Red with white stripe. I put Graiger SS rims with some Fats on the back. It was a nice looking car! Then my brother decided that it needed a 350 in it. If I remember correctly, we used Monza motor mounts and a few adjustments here and there and the motor fit in there pretty nice. I couldn't afford a nice header for it yet, so I ground down the stock, drivers side, manifold and welded a thick piece of Sheet metal over the hole to clear the steering shaft. The motor didn't seem to mind to much the few times I drove it. Then I went into the Air Force and my brother wrecked it...driving like he usually did...WIDE OPEN! He survived... the car didn't.
    He then put a Very Built Thunderbird 460 in a 73 Vega Wagon... Now that car was SCARY! But he did it right by building a bottom up full roll cage so the car didn't Rip itself apart. I only got to ride in it once...but WHAT A RIDE!

    You may want to get an air fuel meter so you can get the carb adjusted just wright. Have you ever thought of changing to E 85 fuel? Keep up the great content.

    Thanks for the ride along. My high school buddy's dad bought one with gears for the highway and one for city driving. Both hatch backs one red and one blue. I always seen the kits for sale in the rags and eyeballed / dreamed of building a small block but with a manual shifter. Still i can admit i would not kick out an auto from my garage.

    Thanks, brings back memories. I bought a new 73 Vega panel wagon and it cost $2180. I ordered mine with heavy duty radiator and a turbo hydromatic 350 trans, brought the price up to $2872. Belonged to a club called the Vegabonds. We'd get motor mount kits and drop a little 283 in them. Then they would blow out the rearends.

    I get your being so nervous , so many things to check and go over to make sure everything is right and that you didn’t forget something , one little slip of something you may forgot and you can lose it all in a matter of minutes , this happens more often than people know , slight little fuel leak , oil leak , plug wire arcing on something anything little thing , as car guys we know this so tend to double and triple check things before we even for them up .

    It takes 10 to 15 hp to run the Alt , water pump , fan
    Change over to electric water pump and electric fan and free up some" hp " to the rear wheels , run a brand new battery and remove the Alternator ?

    • @davidkeeton6716
      @davidkeeton6716 Месяц назад +1

      You do know that voltage drop will cause it to run like crap. Just run it like it is. It won't vary a hundredth or two from pass to pass if the alternator starts charging during a pass.

    For u go to the track u need to write on a piece of paper what u think it will do and give it to her tell to put it in her pocket and at the end of the night go to her with the time slip and see how close u were let her put the paper in her pocket then b4 the last hit go get her to pull it out of her pocket
