in 1977, there was no Solo movie, no EU, nothing beyond what was shown in the og film. however, Harrison Ford did a great job here showing that yes, Han did have someone he cared for in the past, someone he hasn’t gotten over just yet. as of now, we have a name and a face for who that was, but we didn’t at the time.
that much subtext given through a few lines of dialogue and a sad facial expression is why i love Star Wars so much.

My main problem with the actor in Solo is his height (5ft 8). He's a lot shorter than Harrison Ford (6ft 2). Ford was kind of lanky in Star Wars and this actor was stocky. I just couldn't imagine him as Han Solo no matter how hard I tried.

I love Qi’ra, but the legends version (Bria Tharen) is so much more tragic. They have one last outing together, raiding the slave colony of Ylesia where they first met, but Bria betrays Han for the “greater good” of funding a major Rebellion operation. Han’s extremely angry and basically kills his relationship with Bria, then she dies in a rear guard action during the very operation her betrayal helped fund (Toprawa, basically the Legends version of Scarif). Han only finds out from Boba Fett a couple days before Han takes that fateful job ferrying Luke and Obi-Wan to Alderaan because Fett had sworn to tell Bria’s father if she died.

Plot Twist: Qi'ra gets separated by Han when she was 18 years old and Ezra's parents gets arrested by Empire when Ezra was 7 and it means that their adventure had begun and we will see the first meets between Qi'ra and Ezra in Obi-Wan Kenobi series when she realize that Empire Day was Ezra's birthday Learning that Maul made a horrible deal with Anakin about Ezra's future

The Solo movie could have worked and they could have had several movies to help have a satisfying trilogy. They just needed help from fans that love Star Wars to make that first really good Solo movie to a third and final Solo movie. I don't think directors in Hollywood are unable or unwilling to do movies correctly anymore because of political reasons.

@@canuck21 The soundtrack was not engaging, they should have had half the movie with Solo being in the Empire as a Pilot and have a command of his own. There should have been more lead up to saving Chewbacca (perhaps the reason he left the Empire). The Lando character needed to match the expectations of Lando with no Robot sex. Eliminate that heist stuff and those other characters. That Kessel Run should have had more lead up and something more than what was on screen. Perhaps a huge race or something. Something everyone in the Galaxy would know about. Huge opportunity was missed with Solo.
