When I first started out, I failed on like 70-90 lbs total weight. Ever since then, I’m strongly aware that it’s very easy to fail and it doesn’t really matter how much weight is on the bar. These are all great safety tips everyone should follow.

Great Video! When I was 18, I used to workout alone at home & always just instinctively did your #4 tip when I'd bench til failure. *It seemed like such common sense that I just thought everyone did it like that* (Makes all those videos, while still scary, just slightly more frustrating bc I'd be screaming your 4th tip to the guy on the screen to no avail!) - But of course Tip #1 is the most important, & without doing it, you can't really train safe regardless

I am new to bench pressing but have been working my way up. I am so glad I had been focusing on form and going to my chest so intuitively when I failed I brought it down rolled it forward and sat up! I was so scared! I didn’t think of continuing forward into the deadlift, so thanks for that tip. I just was sitting there stunned, until a buff young man came up to me and said do you need help!? I said yes thank you, that was my first time going to failure. He said it is humbling isn’t it, I said yes. It has taken me a lot to start being in the weight room and expanding my knowledge beyond group fitness. I was intimidated but finally sucked it up. Mostly because I thought I didn’t belong with the others in the weight room. However everyone has their first day. And after an experience like that I know everyone appreciates what others are doing in there and no matter if they are beginner or experienced. People will be kind and helpful!

The thing is people try to save the lift, get it to the hooks, uprights, which involves moving towards neck or head and that can actually be fatal. This can happen otherwise too just with loss of control.
So well meaning videos like this are kind of misleading in my opinion.
If you can't control the weight you can't control the weight.
    Safer doesn't mean safe.
A person could faint, blackout, lose consciousness or tear a muscle such that controlling bar path isn't an option.
A human spotter can save you, sure, but that's safer not safe.
A proper set up, if well designed and set up, could be considered safe in my opinion in a way
    other things cannot.
Safer is better but safe is safer.
I think people should be more cautious about this.
In some cases you could still be maimed or killed in my opinion.
I imagine some of the dead or maimed might have known some of these ideas to make it safer.
In the moment the tendency to try to save the lift is pretty strong and common
and can cost you the chance to bail.
This is true of the squat as well.
I imagine some of the people crushed by the bar knew how to bail but tried to save the lift or just lost control...
So, for your consideration, that's my opinion...
