    I appreciate your honesty so much. Gardening is my favorite hobby, but my budget does not always allow me to have instant gratification. I just purchased these hydrangeas in the exact same size. Can’t wait to see their progress next year.

    I have always gone with cuttings. Its free. Lime light punch is my favorite. I live in a townhouse so I do not have that much space. I have found going vertical is a wonderful thing.

    Great job. Yep, we add compost and amendments to our hard, clay soil constantly to help our plantings. I follow Rural Refurb, and she takes cuttings from her hydrangeas to make new plants all the time. They grow so quickly.

      I add compost from the kitchen to some areas (but I only have so much). We buy in bagged compost every year and kind of alternate what areas get mulched with it cause it can get expensive.

    Why am I actually relieved your auger broke - it almost took your foot off last time! Hydrangeas are my favorite flower and I was just contemplating buying full size for a hedge. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!

      No problem! 💚 As dangerous as it can be I need my auger for big holes 🤣 I had on jeans and boots this time! 😅

    I did see a Lacy Hydrangea in full bloom at home depot about a month back. It's the one and only time in recently history that I'd seriously considered buying a large expensive plant and only didn't because we're trying to get only native plants these days since we are not great at the whole watering and keeping plants alive in the extreme heat these days. It was absolutely ethereal the way the light played off of those blooms though. I so wanted to pick one!

      I had a lacy hydrangea planted 2 years ago and I planted it in the WORST spot, right where my dogs love to pee. That hydrangea is no longer with us RIP lol

    Hello! Your Hydrangeas are Beautiful. What do you fertilize them with, and how often?
    My favorite Hydrangea is the limelight. I purchased 2 the other day, and now i have to find a place in the garden for them.

      I have two Limelights on the corner of my house. They truly are beautiful. I'm hoping mine don't flop too much. Some of my small branches are already flopping but they are still young plants so I think they're just now getting some strength and I'll be sure to prune out any skinny branches next year.

    Totally agree with buying small ones! I did this as well earlier spring. So I fertilize in the fall? Or wait a year?

    • @SomeSpaceToGrow
      @SomeSpaceToGrow  5 месяцев назад

      I wouldn’t fertilize until next year in spring and I would use an all purpose organic fertilizer like plant tone. I only fertilize my hydrangeas once a year in the spring and have never needed to do more! 💚

    Thanks for your video info. I am wondering which side of the fence are they on? what zone are you in? how much sun do they get per day? thanks in advance.

    • @SomeSpaceToGrow
      @SomeSpaceToGrow  4 месяца назад

      Zone 5b, on the south side of the fence and they get probably part sun (4-6 hours a day). It does get some protection from the pear tree for a few ours in the middle of the day.

    Plus when buying fully grown plants, they tend to die much more often than a smaller plant that can adapt to your conditions at a younger age.

    So I am curious as to why you didn't propagate off of your original hydrangea as I know you grow much of your own flowers.

    • @SomeSpaceToGrow
      @SomeSpaceToGrow  5 месяцев назад +2

      My main reason is because it would've taken me probably 6 months to a year to get them to grow to the size of the ones I purchased and I wanted to get this hedge started this year. I also didn't want to have to look after them all winter long (I love gardening but the break from October-December when I'm not starting seeds is so nice after a growing season). Also technically it's illegal to propagate as it's still under patent. Not that I think they'd come after a home gardener propagating for personal use, but I just don't feel comfortable creating content teaching people to propagate patented plants.

      @@SomeSpaceToGrow I gotcha, and HOly moly I had no idea about illegal propagation!
