Great story! And I love the way of how you utilized developer commands to create fights between enemies, like the daoist and the frogs, to visualize the stories you’re telling.
Thank you sir, yor videos are the best! 2:34 interesting. so that means that the guay that transform into women might not be female in nature? I vaguely remember beeing confused about the snow fox girl lore entrie (I believe it was that creature diary page) because it used male pronouns when talking about the foxes life. I always assumed that another fox was meant and not the one that would transformed into a woman in a dream (or the dream was just bs and the man killed a fox that would never transform into anything).
I just re-read the entry of the Snow Fox guai you mention. Perhaps the “he” is mentioning Non-void - The man that killed the fox due to his dream. The fox still referred as “she” when she talked about Lady of Mount Tai with her kin. blackmythwukong.fandom.com/wiki/The_Fox
So yaoguai they are demon like creatures some look human some don’t some just monsters in someway but yet most of them want to become human or inspired to Buddha hood but why do most of them want to become human so badly? What do they see in us that inspires them to become us among humans? And the yaoguai the King and Queens, to be the most powerful demon, yet some of them are nice. Some of them are mean some of them want to attain Buddha hood and also become human. some of them just want to be immortal. The monkey king was right that one little word he has ruined all the rims.
True. Having a human form allows yaoguai to practice Buddhism or Daoism more effectively, helping them become more powerful or free. Escaping the constant struggle for survival as a yaoguai. I believe yaoguai are metaphors for humanity-they represent individuals from all walks of life, both highborn and lowborn, struggling to survive and striving to improve. They also embody human emotions and empathy. In contrast, gods and deities serve as metaphors for the ruling class, detached from the struggles of the common beings they oversee. I really want to continue this series and explore these themes deeper.
In a way I'd compare them more to say fairies or the fey in European folktales. Sure they can be dangerous and often strange and unpleasant phenomenon such as illnesses or misfortune were blamed on them they could also be helpful and even kind. (As long as not angred) Similarly with gaui (monster) or yao (strange/conscious) or even jing (powerful/can assume a human enough form) they aren't strictly thought of as 'evil' (in a religious framing), dangerous sure but that only means if angred or for some if they're sadistic (just as there's sadistic humans) they can use their super strength and or other supernatural powers to harm or even kill most humans. But anyway yes, it is fascinating a topic, these beings make great inspiration for various potential works of literature, games or other media!
This is a very Western way of seeing Chinese mythology, and it's quite misleading. The yaoguai and yaojing aren’t what you mention. Yaoguai can also take human form, and some are even born that way. In Chinese mythology, yaoguai never embody a pure evil ideology like in the West. There’s no black and white; it’s all about balance and the nature of being human.
"In Chinese mythology, yaoguai never embody a pure evil ideology like in the West. There’s no black and white; it’s all about balance and the nature of being human" => And this is basically what I said in this video. Well, I think calling it misleading is a bit exaggerate. Yao(妖) created from have 2 characters 女 (nǚ - woman) and 夭(yāo - little) meaning it's a thing whether animal or object that gain some form of consciousness, it can also be used in 妖冶 (beautiful). So a Yao can either become a Guai or Jing. Guai usually has unpleasant appearance whether it cant assume human from yet of it chooses to stay in that original form. If it choose to assume in human form, it will be called Jing(精 - created from 米(mǐ-rice) and 青(qing - green/pure) meaning it get some form of spiritual consciousness. So Jing is to describe a being that gained a intelligence level that capable to think and scheming, thus can use more way to achieves their goals, such as assume in human form. So I think it's a Yao's choice to become Jing or Guai. Or when they are being detected in which form by human, they can be called Guai or Jing by human's perspective. Also the term Yaoguai and Yaojing are used as human's perspective that implying the nature characteristic of animals. Animals that considered more cunning, likely have higher level of intelligence are often being called Yaojing. Like Fox (Huli jing), Snake (Shé jīng), Spider (zhī zhū jīng) Animals that considered simple and dumb are usually call Yaoguai. Like Bear guai, Wolf guai,...
Thank you I’ve been waiting for someone to do a lower video on those frogs it’s one of the most unique spirits
Glad you enjoyed it and there’s more to come!
Great work, as a non-native Chinese speaker, your understanding is very deep. Please keep it up!
Thank you very much!

Thank you! The mods of this game are quite hard to use. But It’s worth the efforts!
That's a really good story for what I previously assumed was just a cute summon to collect...
Destined one: proceeds to kill every single frog in this video
Right. I spare the Son of Stones after reading their lores 😂
I do feel like there should've been options to not kill every frog gaui you can meet.
I feel there should be a spin-off book explaining what Yoaguia are.
Such a amazing video. ❤
Thank you so much!
Please continue with this seriess am loving every one of these videoss ❤❤❤❤
Agreed 👍
Thank you and will do!
One hell of a tale
