You are laying down stuff bass players will seek out for DECADES man. It's amazing. I got into playing bass because of doom/stoner metal and heavy riffs but there were almost no tabs out there for this stuff even a few years ago. This work will outlive you - It's awesome!

@@BeholdenToTheRiff I believe it’s because the original recording was very slightly slowed down to fit the song better, I could be wrong tho so don’t take my word for it lol.

Hey Jered! I'm trying to learn modes and scales. Would you mind telling me which are the modes used in this song? Saw that you've put in some lessons description, but not here. Great lesson!
Hey Marco! Thank you for checking out the lesson. As for a bass, you can’t go wrong with a Fender/Squire Precision or Mustang. I also really like entry level Yamaha basses too🤜🤛🤘
@@BeholdenToTheRiff Yeah man, Master, I just bought the Big Muff Bass Pi!! Thank you... is it necessary to have a sustain pedal? Could you also indicate a cost-benefit ratio? Thank you for your help and attention
Thank You very much for the iconic song tutorial. Could anyone tell me how to tune 4string bass THAT low? When i tuned in C the strings were already hanging like snot. And if it is necessary to somehow adjust the trus rod and some other screws for not to spoil the instrument?
Great question! I have found that tuning lower than one step down (D - G - Eb - A) requires thicker string gauge - Power Slinkys or thicker. If your strings are still floppy, try raising the action a little. Other than that, bring in your bass for setup in c standard🙏
@@vasilynovozhenin9875 You may need to modify your nut to accommodate the thicker strings; you can also get a drop pedal and then set it 5 semitones down from your bass tuned in E standard!
@@sethroy9801 Great idea Seth. I’m just learning bass. Late though at age 61 now. Better late than not. With only 1 bass the dilemma is what to tune to. I have over 10 guitars but only one bass so pretty much figuring buy more bass guitars soon.
Only if your tuning up from a lower tuning :) If you’re tuning down from E-Standard, you will most likely need some thicker strings and a set up, this will maintain a similar tension and your neck won’t know the difference 🤘
Awesome video man, truly appreciate your material as a doom metal fan first and foremost, and then of course as a bass student. I’d like to ask you though, how do you tune a 4-string bass down in B? All I’m told by other players and my teacher is that either I get a 5 string bass and then ignore the G string or change the whole setup of my bass (changing the strings for thicker ones, etc) in order to play this stuff. Thanks in advance and thank you again for this awesome work that you’re doing on RUclips.
Great question! Definitely a matter of personal preference on the 4 or 5-string bass. I’m fortunate enough to have a 4-string dedicated to and set up in C-Standard, along with another bass set up in E-Standard. The C-Standard bass has (55-115) strings and can easily handle being tuned down a 1/2 step to B-Standard. Hope this helps and THANK YOU for checking out the channel🤘
