Great to see you and other content creators I follow give the game a lot of praise, makes me feel more optimistic about it at launch. Unfortunately I didn't get selected for the network test which bums me out, wished there was a public demo so everyone could've gotten a chance to experience a taste but oh well.
lowkey bro, I think I might actually prefer not to be in network test so I'll be blown away even more when the full game releases. and speaking of creators, I've watched at least like 8-10 30 + min videos by different youtubers giving their thoughts and opinions on elden ring, and NOT one has said they disliked it or had their worries. Matter of fact, every single one of them said they have a lot of confidence in the game and have a really good feeling this will be an amazing game. Most of them were even surprised to get hands on the game this early plus the amount of content in a so called "demo". I know one creator said he literally put 70+ hours into the demo and he still had not even fully explored everything, and that in reality this was probably about 1/12 of the full game.
The click bait is so unnecessary. There's nothing "brutal" about praising a game, lol. Matty! Just make the video. We don't need the fluff to click on your vid.
@@bobby_c07 I mean, sure. But there are plenty of huge creators that don't necessarily use click bait and still have an immense audience because they've cultivated trust by presenting their videos in an honest and forthright way that doesn't annoy people who clicked on it. I honestly think a good handful of new viewers may click on this, but bounce off because they fell for the bait and switch. I don't think it's a healthy strategy long term. Which is a shame because the content is great, we don't need the tricks
@@notkjjk Actually, i've seen many reviewers/game-journalists state flat out that when they review a game or preview a game and it might contain any sort of criticism... the backlash & 'brutal' feedback they personally get is unreal. Yep, I'll be playing the craaap out of this game when it comes out. Looks awesome. :) I'm relatively new to the From Software mania. I'm playing my way through Bloodborne for the 1st time right now (about 9 bosses in so far) and LOVING it!
never played bloodborne since i was an xbox player for most of my life, but i'll tell you what, dark souls is an insane series, i fell in love with dark souls 1 like YEARS ago, dark souls 2 was super unique mechanic wise, however, i think it fell short overall compared to the other 2, and last but not least, dark souls 3 will change your life, unfortunately it's not as active anymore for phantoms and pvp (maybe it will now because of elden ring hype), but the game just feels so ahead of it's time. I played ds3 for the first time in years like a few months ago and was I blown away at just how fun the game is and how real pvp/fighting in general was. I can only imagine how elden ring will feel with all these little quality of life changes + updated engine/mechanics at the next gen level.
They will ruin all other games for you. Nothing compares to fromsoftware. Welcome to the other half, nothing will be the same for you with gaming. Don't bother with Nioh, it's a trash ripoff.
Man, it's tough reading these comments from people that have no idea how the Souls games work and have massive misconceptions about the studios goals. I for one cannot wait for launch, been an avid souls fan since ds1 came out on 360.
I have never played ANY souls game. Super hard and frustrating is just not something I look for in a game. I honestly don't get it but I know those people are out there and I hope they have a blast. Beating a really hard game is not an accomplishment that means anything to me.
I'm hoping this does well, which it seems like it will. I'd like to see From Software in a position to go back and revisit their Armored Core series, which is due for a revival.
Some staff that worked on Armored Core left cause FromSoft was busy with Souls games. They went to work on Daemon X Machina on Switch, I don’t see it happening, especially after Elden Ring sales I suppose.
Bro Miyazaki isn't going to let his most ambitious project of his career fail. ER will be a defining moment in the Souls-like genre. It will be the best title to complete the Era of last gen consoles and the best game From has ever made to date. It will be everything that everyone thought Cyberpunk was going to be in terms of success bc Miyazaki doesn't let investors make decisions that they have no business making unlike most companies including CDPR.
Why do people say things like “I hope it does well”? Who cares As what matters is do you like it? Don’t give me the line that if it does bad it won’t see a sequel either because that’s just nonsense.
im playing through Dark Souls for the first time and just beat ornstein and smough lol. cant say its my favorite game ever in certain areas, but in other aspect it blows my mind. to me it looks like theyre taking all the best aspects of the souls/borne series and incorprating thst all into a refreshing open world design and i am extremely insanely excited to play this game. and when i say refreshing open world design, i mean one that isnt a checklist ubisoft style game. this seems like youre truly going to have the freedom to explore and find things that arent just shown to you on a map. its gonna have that feeling of stubling into a quest or happening to find something really cool and useful. i remember finding mines in skyrim full of gold ore veins and marking them on my physical map that came with the game so that i would always remember where to find it. going through dungeons and finding someone in a cage and getting a quest to help them escape. i miss the feeling of exploring an open form game like that. this seems like its going to be an amazing thing to tide me over until starfield
I did the same thing. Never had a care for the dark souls games until I saw the trailer for Elden Ring. Then I decided to check out DS.....I'm hooked now. Lol

it's not revolutionary for gaming in general but it's for From software games but it adds so much to the combat that is one of the core mechanics in souls borne games and jumping also add so much in the level-design direction of like Metroidvania dungeons like souls borne genre
Very happy to see how good this looks and how well this preview is being received. Fromsoft games aren't for me, but I completely respect and acknowledge their talent and art. I'm so glad these games exist. I hope everyone that wants to play this will love and enjoy it to the max.
Game looks dope. When I was younger,I would have loved to play and beat challenging games but now that I'm older,I don't have the patience. I played Sekiro for about two hours. Game was cool but I didn't really put the effort into learning the mechanics and playing the way it's meant to. Definitely see your point on the fair aspect. I may pick this up. Great video, hope to see your rages on this game,Matty.
I’ve had lots of experience with Souls titles and like he and others have mentioned I think this one is going to be much more accessible to those that don’t want to spend hours “getting good” ;) spells and summons will be your friend and look like an extremely satisfying way to play. I hope you try it out and enjoy it, it may encourage you to try out other fromsoft classics
Sekiro is def by far the hardest in my opinion in terms of 'natural' difficulty in my opinion. DSs games I felt had more artificial ways such as tight corridors, long ran backs to bosses, etc etc. I loved the DS games but I found those things kind of annoying. Sekiro I felt took away all those things and just left hard as fuck bosses with a difficult combat system. This game seems it will be easier. If you so choose, you can most likely use summons, spells, and open-world terrain to either cheese or kinda easy mode your way. At the same time, I am sure you can make it more difficult but have a different playstyle and not rely on those things. So the difficultly will most likely be up to the player which I love because it's a very natural way to please both the 'get gud' folks and the guys who just wanna play.
@@johnluca3865 that’s a good way of explaining it. Sekiro is tough because you’re always at risk of being hit as you deflect. Dark Souls has tougher frame date/committing moves though. As long as new comers use creativity and coop summons I bet they will be able to figure Elden Ring out
@@itszaque that is very true. Though I still feel like sekiro was harder because nearly every boss and mini boss are quite challenging especially if you arent use to the combat system, compared to DS having fewer net bosses, and more cheesy kinda bosses. Although tbf, I did play the entire sekiro the "Honorable way" engaging every boss+mini boss head on with usually no stealth, and trying to beat them all no sort of cheese, whether it was abusing dumb AI, or spamming consumables. So it is very possible that I just made the game harder for myself by brute forcing my way through every single mini boss or boss i found
@@johnluca3865 gotcha, I was completely degenerate and used stealth and items to greatly simplify things. The game was pretty easy with this strat (most of the time)

I mostly play br games these past few years but I always play from software soulsborne games cause they are the only type of single player games that can give me the same satisfaction as winning a br match
I’m curious about the environmental effects of the game: night time stronger enemies, does the rain effect battle accuracy or if lightning strikes do damage, can the wind increase damage with projectiles or jumping and sneaking help dodge enemy attacks. I’m getting giddy about the playing mechanics 🤤
This would be my ultimate Gamepass game. I wouldn't take the gamble on buying it since I'm not much into hardcore games, but I am very intrigued and would love to give it a try.
as hardcore as this game may look, it seems like they may or may not tone down how difficult the game is. atleast in a way on how we play the game. seems like they are making us tailor our adventure more rather than figuring out the best builds for the best situations
The thing about Souls games that these journalists dont understand is that you can MAKE the game easier if you play it properly. For example, this guy said that the first main boss is very difficult and I imagine he fought him very early after starting the game. Me, during todays first Network test, I did almost all the side content available and only then fought him at around 2:40 hour mark. I had a +3 (max upgrade in network test) greatsword and best armor set in this network test as well, plus I had summons. (NPCS who help you fight) I did about 20% of his HP with a single swing so to say the fight was easy would be an understatement. However, I do feel that this test was made very easy compared to the final game. In any case this game is amazing and I cant wait to play the full version!
Has been my most anticipated game of all time since they announced it and we were able to see its more like dark souls again. Dark souls 1 is my favourite of all time and im so glad to see it will deliver:)
Sekiro is mine. I felt they just allowed pure natural challenge from the boss fights and mini bosses. No annoyance of having to fight in small hallways or long run backs to bosses to inflate the challenge. I still love the DS games I just never really enjoyed those aspects personally

Its the best of them so far👍 hopefully Elden ring will have something to say about that.
I'm glad Fromsoftware refuses to add easy mode, overcoming challenges is part of the fun of any game (as long as its not overly punishing), try to think back how much fun you had playing a call of duty game on easy mode (probably finishing it in less than 2 hours), probably not much, but every single challenge I overcame back in dark souls 1, will stay with me forever as a fond memory. same with all other soulsborne games. Hey Matty, how did riding the horse feel? Looks pretty floaty - I know FS want mounted combat/traversal to be a big thing so just curious! Great vid, also am really looking forward to this one
tbh its about the only thing they can fuck up, besides the open world stuff. these games are fairly repetitive in their operation, kinda hard to fuck up at this point. it's like saying the new chess game really nails the mechanics of chess.
The horse is fucking amazing my friend told me this he was choosen for network test in asia. The double jump is very good you can go anywhere. It is not a horse it's name is torrent given by melina. It is a spirit animal.
I suck at games like this, but I love them so much that I cuss and scream my way through them. I'm finally playing DS3 and hopefully will be done just in time to jump into this. Good video!
What about the story Matty? Is it worth it? The story of Seikiro kept me going but Dark Souls didn't so if I have to suffer I want the story to be at least decent.
Im pretty sure this story is going to be much more in the open similar to sekiro, with extra story details and questlines hidden. If you liked sekiro I think the story telling method of this game you will like too
About the difficulty of From Soft games, if i were back in my teens with no responsibilities whatsoever then yeah, bring it on. But after work and family obligations, the last thing i need is a hard game to stress over. I play games to relax nowadays. If From Soft games had a difficulty setting, i would 100% play all their games, but i can respect that they do not, and will not demand my needs be taken care of if the dev doesnt wish to.
I've started playing FromSoft games in my 30s, as a doctor with kids. It's one of the best games to escape in its world and the difficulty is inherent to that experience.
It's a good game regardless of your life situation. If you prefer chill relaxed games though that's fine. Not everyone gets stressed out playing games like this. That being said I could care less if they added easier settings for people as long as I could play how it was intended. More options is generally better
My gaming plate is full but I'll play this game next year for sure. I really liked this review. What I see is a development team that just wanted to make a very fun game. It's so refreshing to see a game come out ready to play. No CP2077 drama, no CDPR money grab. To me this game looks like a game made by gamers that wanted this particular game and that's what we get. If only this became a trend in game development.
You sold me on this game when you said it made you feel how Skyrim made you feel when u first started it. I still haven’t found a game since Skyrim that has done that for me so fingers crossed this is the one!
i think the huge difference is that the outside world is built for the newer players where you can poke around and pick off the enemy one by one and spend more time leveling before you take the plunge into the more souls like experience when you go inside........ thats when the feeling of space goes away .....
I’m getting very strong vibes of BOTW and Skyrim. It really looks like Firm has captured lightning in a bottle with this entry. I couldn’t be more excited to explore a new open world RPG.

Fromsoftware have always been gods among game developers, always making something new and exciting to keep things fresh, but never forgetting their roots. although their graphics (compared to other triple A titles) are sometimes lacking, their gameplay, storytelling and feeling of satisfaction of the games have always been a cut above the rest in my opinion. I'm super excited to play Elden ring, and it will no doubt go into my list of favorite games of all times together with pretty much all other Fromsoftware titles. The games definitely have flaws, mainly the bugs and glitches (usually in pvp situations, that give high skilled players a huge advantage, such as infinite stun locks, item duping, fast healing item animations and move set swap glitches, not to mention the actual hackers since they don't really have an anti cheat in their games.
The only thing I hope for is that they sort of change the colors and effects of the health, stamina, and fp bars to be less solid and bland… I don’t hate it, it just keeps catching my attention and I just thing something about it needs to be polished the rest of the game seems pretty much perfect
i mean, yes. it's a fromsoft game, it's kinda their schtick. challenging action combat. someone else somewhere seemed surprised that this is 'open world dark souls', when me and some other people basically laughed and said 'we knew that whe it was announced'. same thing here, just, less surprise about the 'open world' and more that it's like dark souls part 4
I was so uninterested in this game for so long because I don't care about games until I've seen proper gameplay, but now I'm all IN lol I need this game
I was into guild wars 1 and 2 for longer than I’d like to admit. Guild wars 2 has one of the most engaging open world settings, but I started fromsoft titles after I got burned out. I played gw2 mostly solo aside from world events, but this looks like if I could make 20 wishes of things I wanted in gw2 so I can’t freaking wait to get this
Really wish the Elder Scrolls comparisons with this game would stop. Remember when people started getting annoyed that every game coming out in 2018 and 2019 had "Soulsborne" influence? It's seems odd that once a FromSoftware this promising is on the cusp of coming out, we then compare it to something else, when this genre created that very same duality. I don't know man, it seems silly. Stoked for the game though..
I liked what I saw, I just have one gripe with it. This is a new IP but they are still re using a bunch of animations and sound effects. I was expecting a leap I mean the game comes out 2022 and looks like it still has stuff from the first demon souls
That's what I was thinking. Me hating dark souls and thinking it ain't all that I saw this and instantly knew it was just DS3 open world. Here I was thinking some company made a competitor to elder scrolls but nope. Just another from soft game
they are reusing, refining them and adding more animations on top of them to weapons, in ds3 a katana for example could only do 2 differently animated R1's but in Elden Ring R1's have 5 different animations that chain into eachother for every weapon. Watch Ironpineapple's video for a more in depth review of the demo cause he talks about this too.

Sounds like you're more worried about buyer's remorse than anything, lol.
FromSoftware has become my favorite dev after playing Demon Souls PS5 and Sekiro. Super hyped for Elden Ring.
Play Bloodborne and DS3
Wow, that was BRUTALLY HONEST! On a real tho, I'm so hyped for this. Looking forward to this game the most
The click bait is so unnecessary. There's nothing "brutal" about praising a game, lol. Matty! Just make the video. We don't need the fluff to click on your vid.
@@notkjjk I think he'd be more aware of what gets him views that you would be. He's not titling the video to grab regulars, it's for randoms
@@notkjjk lol, yeah he cant help himself. Its so unnecessary.
@@bobby_c07 I mean, sure. But there are plenty of huge creators that don't necessarily use click bait and still have an immense audience because they've cultivated trust by presenting their videos in an honest and forthright way that doesn't annoy people who clicked on it. Titles like these honestly feel they're insulting my intelligence even though I know that's not the intention.
So yeah, 'brutally honest' is a phrase that checks out when it comes to reviewing games on the internet... even if the phrase is overused.
Yep, I'll be playing the craaap out of this game when it comes out. Looks awesome. :)
I'm relatively new to the From Software mania. I'm playing my way through Bloodborne for the 1st time right now (about 9 bosses in so far) and LOVING it!
That's awesome friend. I still need to play Bloodborne and Sekiro
Bloodborne is that one game I realllllllly wish I could play but nope they don’t wanna release on pc :(
Try the Nioh series it’s better
never played bloodborne since i was an xbox player for most of my life, but i'll tell you what, dark souls is an insane series, i fell in love with dark souls 1 like YEARS ago, dark souls 2 was super unique mechanic wise, however, i think it fell short overall compared to the other 2, and last but not least, dark souls 3 will change your life, unfortunately it's not as active anymore for phantoms and pvp (maybe it will now because of elden ring hype), but the game just feels so ahead of it's time.
On the release of every Souls game reviews were same, it's hard but we finished all those games
You must be very proud of yourself
@@GeorgeZimmermen why would you say that
I have never played ANY souls game. Super hard and frustrating is just not something I look for in a game. I honestly don't get it but I know those people are out there and I hope they have a blast. Beating a really hard game is not an accomplishment that means anything to me.
Comparing this to Skyrim is kind of apples and oranges.
I'm hoping this does well, which it seems like it will. I'd like to see From Software in a position to go back and revisit their Armored Core series, which is due for a revival.
Would love to see armored core remake
I was just saying this yesterday. Love Armored Core
I for one welcome our new hardmode masochistic overlords.
im playing through Dark Souls for the first time and just beat ornstein and smough lol. cant say its my favorite game ever in certain areas, but in other aspect it blows my mind. to me it looks like theyre taking all the best aspects of the souls/borne series and incorprating thst all into a refreshing open world design and i am extremely insanely excited to play this game.
and when i say refreshing open world design, i mean one that isnt a checklist ubisoft style game. this seems like youre truly going to have the freedom to explore and find things that arent just shown to you on a map. its gonna have that feeling of stubling into a quest or happening to find something really cool and useful. i remember finding mines in skyrim full of gold ore veins and marking them on my physical map that came with the game so that i would always remember where to find it. going through dungeons and finding someone in a cage and getting a quest to help them escape. i miss the feeling of exploring an open form game like that. this seems like its going to be an amazing thing to tide me over until starfield
I did the same thing. Never had a care for the dark souls games until I saw the trailer for Elden Ring. Then I decided to check out DS.....I'm hooked now. Lol
Oh man props to beating O&S, if you ever find the time I cannot recommend bloodborne enough its my favorite in the series, its also the only souls game I ever beat solo (I had to get help for O&S).

@@joecaronna2450 yeah sorry
I find it hilarious that jumping and mounts are considered revolutionary.
I love my fromsoft community but it's also quite funny to see how things which were considered heresy back in the day by us(maps, guides, open worlds with mediocre interconnectivity, hell even crafting) are now being ignored and even praised
There is evolution from prev souls games, not revolutionary to video games
yeah and it seems like a downgrade from sekiro more than anything
Because it's made by Miyazaki, don't get me wrong the man's a genius but shit tell the community that he made something and they will turn their brains off. And also the game looks dope but not to the point in which it deserves this much bootlicking
it's not revolutionary for gaming in general but it's for From software games but it adds so much to the combat that is one of the core mechanics in souls borne games and jumping also add so much in the level-design direction of like Metroidvania dungeons like souls borne genre
Very happy to see how good this looks and how well this preview is being received.
Fromsoft games aren't for me, but I completely respect and acknowledge their talent and art.

The game was pretty easy with this strat (most of the time)
This game looks amazing I can’t wait to get killed over and over to find out all of the bosses attack patterns and weaknesses I can tell this is gonna be fun
It makes me so happy to see that blocking isnt useless like it was in DS3
Why was blocking useless in DS3? Been a min sense I played it

You should give them a try, it's not as hard as some people say after you understand how you're supposed to fight
Difficulty settings stink. Glad FromSoftware stuck to their guns and didn’t add any

Hyped that magic is good again
I like ur style of explanation , so subbed
This has Game of the Year written all over it. It looks stunning
The only thing I hope for is that they sort of change the colors and effects of the health, stamina, and fp bars to be less solid and bland…

Agree the games have very little in common aside from the very superficial open world and rpg tags you could apply to them
I liked what I saw, I just have one gripe with it.
How did no one expect this. So they are re using animations and sound effects, it's like their brand of game.
they are reusing, refining them and adding more animations on top of them to weapons, in ds3 a katana for example could only do 2 differently animated R1's but in Elden Ring R1's have 5 different animations that chain into eachother for every weapon. Watch Ironpineapple's video for a more in depth review of the demo cause he talks about this too.
@@thedoomslayer5863 depends on why do you hate dark souls, is it the difficulty? If it is than you won't like ER even though its more accessible. RUclipsrs that said that the game looks like it will be open world dark souls before the demo now are praising the game how it is a combination of every souls game From has done before, and how many new things it introduces on top of that. Only from the demo i can see this game will shit on Elder Scrolls from the combat, open world and variety aspect.
@@lapostetu9337 From soft games are very over rated imo. I don't care if some lore channel discovers this or that ITS NOT PROPERLY EXPLAIN IN GAME same shit as destiny I don't care about the back story of this big bad villain because I have to go out of my way to some RUclipsr that does lore for this game to understand what the hell is going on.
The combat of dark souls feels like I'm trekking through mud that's knee deep with ankle weights on. That doesn't feel fluid at all. Not a fan of the whole boss hits you with one attack now half your hp is gone in an instant, even if you can do big damage to him back
Also not a fan of their map design that at times just feels like some overly convoluted maze. Branching paths is fine even awesome really but when so many of them lead back to areas I was just in and need to move on from or dead ends then what's the point.
The PvP of the game never seemed balanced and well implemented, as if it wasn't really supposed to be there.
I could go on but yeah these games do not jive with me in the slightest which lead to my disappointment when I found out Elden ring is a from soft game
I've had this on my list of games to play since probably early mid-2019... Waiting for my copy to come to be delivered any day now
Bethesda : we make the best open world games!
From software: hold my sake…
The Fallout 76 debacle pushed me toward the Souls games. I was so angry and pissed off and it put me in such a dark mood, and the mood of Souls games just resonated somehow. I was like, screw you Todd. I'm gonna play a challenging game for badass gamers.
You’re a BADASS
@@GasStationMan I try lol
it sure looks good, but souls kinda games are just not my thing, if they had a better story (or any at all)
This one might as Game of Thrones author George RR Martin was part of the project!
It's not a game u play for story unfortunately it's just "oh it's hard and I feel like I have a BIIIIGGG e Peen for beating x and y boss"
How fucking dare you, the fucking story is every item description…and I genuinely mean it, right now if I explained the story of dark souls lore alone it would take me 3 hours. I bet you just beat the bosses, equipped shit…and that’s about it. It’s not like a Netflix horror movie where they dump exposition every two seconds…if I threw you in the jungle of a foreign land you an npc and a page of lore wouldn’t walk outta the brush and scroll down your screen, you’d activity have to find everything out yourself. You’re smoking crack bud, I can’t think of a better more engrossing story than dark souls 1
@@bigbadboof9282 dude hes just hate spamming here on this game because people love it or he just sucks and is a person that wants a easy mode.
@@SilentSpringz Ik, it just disgusts me to think people grabbed zero lore from a franchise that literally does it better than anyone else could.
Managed to play the CNT absolutely loved it pre ordered the collectors edition even if its just the playable area thats amazing im sold
