- Aris explains the lore, for those who weren't around prior to Early 2017. It's a pretty common term, so hopefully this clarifies things for some people...or makes it more confusing.

Okazumi is something heihachi said when he made kazuya
I think he said, "KAZUMIII" the way he did when he did killed her as when he made Kazuya.

nopants stepping up the videos with chat and lore, this is too good
the best part is Aris and Rickstah's synchronized laughing.
I laughed when aris laugh at his past self's laugh.
n0pants with the perfect lore and thumbnail again.
The best part is he never actually explained what it is to the guy asking the original question lol
Tom Brady said it was set play.
He did explain what it was, he said it was a mispronunciation.
But for the people that don't know how to do an internet search :
Okizeme (起き攻め) is a term used in fighting games which refers to pressuring the opponent while they are getting up after being knocked down. Depending on the game, there are various possible options a player can make after being knocked down. In the Tekken series, the player can either roll backwards or forwards, ukemi, use a wake-up kick, perform a cross-chop or kip-up, or stand up.
yeah man it was me HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Also, that word doesn't mean anything on its own, it's pretty much fighting game jargon. It's a combination of two words. Okiru (which means wake-up) and semeru (strike or attack) --> and with the rules of Japanese language it becomes okizeme.
The Okazumi? He did. Okizemi? He parried the question into Quick Time Event.

And hell yeah I stole it from Google 😂😂
In Smash we call that a tech chase. Dunno what it's called in traditional fighters, unless they just call it okizeme all the time.
@@MajiriTadakichi the nature of a tech chase in smash feels a lot different from okizeme in fighting games. Tech chasing is a guaranteed follow up if you have good enough reactions, okizeme is usually either a setup after a combo that is guaranteed despite any reactions, or pressure that's applied out of a favored situation. I'll say they're pretty similar, but much different. I feel okizeme in smash is more like an edge guard, where sometimes you have a guaranteed setup, but it's generally just a favored position to be in.
@@MajiriTadakichi Tech chasing is different and Smash doesn't have a true okizeme game. I'd debate that the closer thing to okizeme would be when someone is holding onto ledge and someone else is on stage. Still, it's not the same.
A way to look at how oki in 2d games works is seeing how a move will affect a character when they're hit by it in different conditions, for example in some games, powerful attacks may launch a character to the edge of the screen, allowing them to tech off the ground or out of the air pretty safely. While it is a powerful move when looking at damage, ending a combo with a move like that would give the player using it "bad oki" and this will give them less opportunities to pressure the opposing player, and potentially continue their turn. On the other side of this, there will probably be a different, weaker move that when used results in a hard knockdown with a few extra frames before the receiving player can tech off the ground. This gives the player using the move time to get in their opponent's face, and setup a meaty, try to mixup, etc., That would be considered "good oki". Understanding how oki works and trying to maximize it while also trying to do good damage is pretty helpful when learning a character and trying to figure out what you could be doing when it's your turn. I'm pretty new to Tekken, so I don't know how much all of this applies to Tekken, but I hope this explanation helps anyone curious.
Aris' inception double laugh

From my understanding Setplay is when you have a set script of moves that you're gonna do no matter what, ala Urien from SFV. You just drop the mirror and you already know the next 10 button presses and you just hope the opponent doesn't get out of it.
But Okizeme is when you get the knock down and put a 50/50 on them via high/low type mixups or even a throw and that's the end of that, usually leading to another hard knockdown and repeated 50/50 guesses.
Yeah setplay and oki are different things
moron kombat wtf hahaah
okizambroozambooni
There's probably a hentai site called that at this point lol
aris and ultradavid did a great okizoomi routine at evo also
it's cute how both Aris and Rickstah raise their hand at the same time when they start rofling
Okazumi sounds better than okizeme
"Okizeme is not actually a Japanese word but was popularized by fighting game enthusiasts. The term is a combination of the Japanese verbs Okiru (起きる) which means to wake-up and Semeru (攻める) which means to attack or strike. The verbs are conjugated and rendaku applies so the unvoiced consonant "s" becomes its voiced form "z"." - Tekken Wiki
I still miss the podcast man that shit was always funny.
Watched the stream yesterday and didn't know what aris meant. Thanks n0pants
I mean okizeme is setplay but setplay isn't okizeme. You can setup a mixup without hard knockdown

Yeah us moron Kombatants like to call them set plays/setups/resets
Lul thats my donation HAHAHAHAHA
That was a great time, when aris only got a shitty donation joke on occasion. Now he's impossible to watch with the avalanche of unfunny rich dudes that can't wait to give him their money for that 3 seconds of validation lol. I'm happy for aris but it takes up 90% of his streams.
The actual term is 'okizeme', with 'oki' meaning 'wake-up' and 'zeme' meaning 'to attack' in Japanese. So basically it means 'to attack on (your opponent's) wake-up'.
t3 gamefaqs
Ffs it's okizeme lol funny video
It's so funny because he doesn't even know what setplay means lmfao.
