    We don't pay high train prices as compared to the world but our civil servants are highly paid and we welcome global talents. Question remains how the best talents can be found in SAF in the history of SMRT?
    Rishi, stop apple polishing the Govt with the hope they will get you back as NDP emcee.

    Don't be GasLighted that when food or transport prices escalate, it means the country is Progressing.
    Let me illustrate :
    A tech company is able to improve a product by making it cheaper and better. In doing so, it becomes the market leader as his competitors cannot be as good.
    This is Progress.
    Progress is not when the product becomes much more expensive to make. Many Singaporeans are easily gaslighted

    Smrt should offer free train rides for same # of days that train is out of service! Why compare subway fares with Europe? U should compare with Asian countries. Then you will see it's not cheap. KL mrt fares are 30-40% cheaper. Taipei is also cheaper than us.

    Hey, been a while since I commented , great show, let's all take a minute to appreciate the smrt staffs who are toiling day and night 😀 for those scammers who maybe watching this better buck up, your tricks are old and outdated 😂

    Providing free train rides for the duration of the disruption would immediately reduce the storm

    Just curious if Japan rail system fails often and what happen if it failed? New York, France were always brough up whenever SMRT have disruptions.

    • @SaoJun
      @SaoJun 2 дня назад +2

      I was in Japan last year, their rail system definitely experiences failures.
      The train operators do the service disruption announcement almost immediately.
      The affected lines get shut down, & commuters just use one of many alternate routes to get to where they are going.

    Rishi involved in the national day parade or something? From his opinions shared in this podcast, i roughly can tell what type of person he is. I dont like 👎👎👎

  • @LonganLee

    I like train fiascos. It can be used to support and illustrate my point :
    1. Does MOT know train engineering? Yes, as much as a non-train engineer could know but nevertheless not the expert. Not a qualified train engineer is what I mean. So, can he be replaced? Of course! Can Iswaran be replaced? Of course! If MOT replaced, does the SMRT stop running? This answer tells you what is regime change.
    2. When a ruling party is replaced, the government remains the government under a new ruling party because the civil servants remain as the machinery working in the background.
    As simple a logic as the above is, many Singaporeans do not really understand this or do not want to understand this due to being gaslit beyond repair

  • @LonganLee
    @LonganLee 3 дня назад +11

    The comic has a bit of logic error. If you compare with the most expensive in Europe, you say SG still cheaper , does it mean he will only be happy when SG is as expensive as swiss taxi? Swiss leaders are paid highly but Singapore is higher if not highest paid. So how to compare?? Do not be Gaslighted.
    The fairest way, undebunkable, is compare SG cost yesterday with SG cost today. Yesterday as in metaphorically
    The problem with such logic is, it's cherry picking and racing to the bottom. It's like if one ex minister found guilty, he can also say, only one. What it mean? Condone? Or is he only happy when Singapore becomes a Malaysia and Najib? Malaysian leaders paid poorly . SG paid highly if not highest. How to compare? Don't be gaslighted.

      Hmm. Its not about being happier but the discussion of the circumstances. Guess that was the point of it being a reference.

    Yes train breakdown happen everyday around the world.
    Difference is their minister are NOT the highest paid in the world AND
    their cars are cheap so they have alternative transport. We do not.

      Excellent points that were not included in the discussion here. The question is why are we comparing ourselves to the worst cities for reliability of public transportation? The hosts (esp Terence) need to address these points.This podcast did not display any bit of sensitivity to folks who have to travel for more than 2 hours to their work destinations every morning (esp Tuas and Jurong island). Life is hard for many Singaporeans. Perhaps not you guys who have traveled so much, but please spare a thought for lower income folks.

  • @pjs20thetube
    @pjs20thetube 2 дня назад +3

    Why is it when you guys compare Singapore to other countries, you guys only compare to the US?
    In London when the Tube breakdowns or on strike, you not only travel on replacement service for free but on any alternatives. Likewise in other parts of the UK.
    Buses in some parts of UK has a flat fee of £2 and cover distances much further than Singapore.
    Some part of Europe have free bus services.
    What about Taiwan, Japan, etc?
    You guys need to research and travel more if you want to compare

    • @YahLahBut

      Can only compare to what we’re personally familiar with mah. Definitely happy to travel more if got budget to do so

    I'm a fan of the show, but I have to say that this is one of the more disappointing episodes... Guest seems to be trying so hard to be politically correct when discussing the train issue, honestly felt like that whole segment was a waste of time.

    Best get a real engineer to lead the MRT.

    • @MJLStudios
      @MJLStudios 3 дня назад

      LTA has the final say, even if MRT lead by real engineer they still cannot do much... LTA's the one with weird and anti-productive red tapes tying down SMRT and SBS Transit engineers from doing things better...

    MTR Hong kong trains seem to run seamless

      @LonganLee 3 дня назад

      And HK is much bigger country to manage. For decades they managed very impressively. SG only had MRT many many years after HK has implemented it. Cannot compare lah. Their leaders are poorly paid compared to our chiampions

      @@LonganLee True lah especially now, post 2019, very sad case now. Already I am seeing good cafes/restaurants around Prince Edward, Kowloon close down. Funny I took my partner who is from HK to SG this year and she was pretty impressed with the infrastructure, cleanliness and how polite everyone was. Its very interesting seeing her reaction from a HKer point of view to see how spacious HDB flats and how efficient the BTO process works to seeing the diversity of cultures like an Indian Muslim Prata store using "wok hei " to cook Mee Goreng Merah" of course trying to convert her to liking Bak Chor Mee over HK cart noodle! LOL but yeah this whole MRT incident is just one time kena sai! But yeah as you extend the lines and services there will be a higher probability of something going wrong. I am back in SG in next month again so hopefully no problems ! LOL

      Top engineering graduates join MTR...we don't have the same talent joining LTA, SMRT or SBST.
