Needless clash between old school rigid security that cannot think out of the box and growing emergence of delivery biz models...

I understand the security guard's perspective, and I believe it's important to consider the circumstances that led to his reaction. However, it's evident that the situation could have been handled differently. Instead of reacting by throwing the bubble tea on the ground, the guard could have given the resident a few minutes to collect the BBT and issue a stern warning. If the drinks remained uncollected, he could have disposed of it a few minutes later. The guard could have also recorded the incident in the logbook and notify his supervisor. This would allow his superiors to confer with the MCST for a review of their guidelines for handling similar situations in the future.

First, the S/Guard salary is paid by the residents. He is doing a dis-service to the condo residents by throwing the resident's order. As far I am concerned, the delivery driver had behaved in very calm manner unlike the S/G. Terrence cannot fault the delivery driver just because he video taped the incident. The Condo's MCST should produce a written copy of of the policy, if any regarding delivery riders and leave it in the guard house. It's not a one size fits all. Different condos with different MCST will have different policies regarding issues posed by delivery drivers delivery food and drinks to their residents.
