I was at that performance in San Francisco's Rrazz Room October 2009. I was a founder member of the Wavendon Allmusic Plan (WAP) in the UK but lived in the US for 25 years. He looked ill as he climbed onto the stage but once he started playing he still was magic. Cleo, of course, was magnificent. When I retired I returned to the UK. After 10 years I had a major stroke so it was a major logistics problem to get from my Rutland home to Wavendon but I've done it a few times to see Cleo - still going strong at 95.
I remember hitchhiking to Wavendon when I was 17 years old to see some great jazz for the weekend...Here I am now 62 years old, living in Australia and loving every minute of this!...JD was an awesome alto player in his younger days as were Joe Harriott and Harold McNair and I don't think Cleo will ever be matched by any female vocalist..What a voice!!!!!!!!!!
I had the good fortune to see them in California in the 1980's. It was a fun concert with humor and playful Cleo-voice vs. John-saxophone competitions. There are great musicians out there, but some are just irreplaceable. Thank you MaxineElizabeth1 for posting,

Cleo Laine -- what a voice. No one - not anyone can hold a candle to a voice like that.

I was there! Had been supporting them since the late 60s early 70s. Did volunteer work at the old Stables - such an atmosphere in there.
I attended a concert at the Canberra Theatre back in the 1970’s and have been a fan ever since.
Ed Neumeister is most definitely the shining star of this quite sad show.
