How to create your own Habit Tracker in Google Sheets - TUTORIAL + FREE TEMPLATE

Some of you have been asking for Google Sheets Tutorials so I decided to start with a Habit Tracker. I tried to create it in a way that, at the same time I was showing you how to build it, I was also showing you a few tricks and formulas. So that's why it's such a long video. I hope you find it useful.

Formulas I mentioned (to copy and paste):
- Horizontal progress bar:
=SPARKLINE(5,{"charttype","bar";"max",10;"color1","black"})
- Vertical progress bar:
=SPARKLINE(50%,{"charttype","column";"ymin",0%;"ymax",100%;"color","black"})
- Conditional formatting: Apparently angled brackets aren't allowed in the description so I couldn't complete the formula. Please pause the video and copy the formula manually.

Hi! What a wonderful tutorial! Thank you so much. In case anyone else struggles with it, in some European countries, where commas are used as decimal separators, you need to change commas into backslash, so it looks as so:

I would love to have seen conditional formatting on the Charts (25% = red, 50%= orange, 75% = green)
This is a great start for tracking 'right now', or one you could add additional months to, but next level would be
- for dates to 'store' the information (checkboxes) so that you get cumulative results (e.g. month chart, year chart, year on year.)
- countif function for individual days, months etc, to see if (for example) Saturdays are a bad day for all habits, or Mondays are bad for habit 3.

So happy I found this! I usually buy my complex spreadsheets but I do like the satisfaction of making one (sad life haha) Only part I got stuck on was the progress bars, I give up. Only had a full black cell. Thanks so much for the tutorial.
Hi! Don't give up! Can you select that black cell and use the paint bucket to change the background color to white? And see if that fixes it? 😊👩💻✨

I tried different applications for tracking habits. But, personally for me this habit tracker is most efficient - you have plain overall view on all of your habits. And Google Sheet is every time available for free )

Hi, Thanks I have mostly worked with Excel so that was a great video to learn some basic Sheets. I have an issue with dividing by 31 - if you add DAY(EOMONTH(D3,0) it will then divide by the number of day for that month. eg =COUNTIF(D4:AH4,TRUE)/DAY(EOMONTH(D3,0)) will give you a true Percentage.
I Just happen to be working on this in a Leap year so it work for 29day in February. If you want to use conditional formatting to clear the unneeded dates and cheeks Custom formula is =AH3>TO_DATE(EOMONTH(D3,0)) and set text to White & fill to White.

Hey I don't know if you already figured it out, but I had the same problem and had to rewrite the formula like the following to make it work. =SPARKLINE(AI4; {"charttype"\"bar";"max"\100%;"color1"\"black"}) for the horizontal and =SPARKLINE(D22 ;{"charttype"\"column";"ymin"\0%;"ymax"\100%;"color"\"black"}) for the vertical.
