I know these are characters that Cartman created for a school project, but given how Satan in the show really is, I can honestly see him being horrified by these creatures.
Well, you would because it happens once a year and that’s why we sing about how it’s Christmas time and it only happens once a year when we sing about how Christmas only comes once a year.
Had christmas at my house one year instead of my granparents (father was out of rehab from a really bad motorcycle crash). I found this episode while scrolling through the TV and turned it on. My grandmother was INVESTED into this episode, as she is with any of her hallmark christmas movies, up until the point that cute little squirrel shouted "Hail Satan!'' My grandmother erupted shouting to turn the show off. Only word that stands out from memory that she said in her fury was "Blasphemous." My father and I were dying of laughter, we knew the twist, wasnt the first time we've seen the episode. However, her reaction made it better than seeing it the first time. Tried to get her to watch till the end, but my dad gave into her rage. One of my favorite christmas memories.
*True Story:* I had a family member locked up in the county prison and the night this episode premiered, the COs made all the inmates watch this just to mess with them. Which it did!
I remember this South Park Christmas special episode really well. I watched it for the first time on ViacomCBS (now known as Paramount Global) - owned Paramount Comedy (now Comedy Central UK and Ireland) in July 2005 and I was 15 in that year. I knew it was far too early for showing any Christmas special episodes but it didn't matter. Anyway it is definitely one of the darkest South Park episodes of all time.
Fun fact, Parker and Stone have stated multiple times that this is one of their very favorite episodes! And Stan’s horrified face is my favorite part about the scene 😂
One of the things I love about this episode is that it was such a last minute idea for trey parker and Matt stone. They were so burned out from making team america and the rest of season 8 that they were just drained. Then someone came up with "blood orgy" and it all sort of came together from there. It took them about 2 days or something to make this episode, and it turned out to be one the best south park episodes
This is one of my favorite Christmas episodes they've made. I love that there's a narrator in the background telling the story. It's what makes this episode unique in my opinion. Also coincidence that a few weeks ago I went to a baby shower that was woodland animal themed and then I watched this episode. Crazy I know.
I remember watching this episode with my dad when I was like 3 - he showed me the movie since I was a baby bc English isn't my native language so I couldn't understand anything and everything was so colorful and chaotic that I found it was funny asf you can imagine the look on my mother's face when she stepped in the living room and saw 3 yo me and my dad laughing loudly as this scene was happening lol
Considering that the original South Park short "The Spirit of Christmas: Jesus vs Frosty" was a Christmas special parody, they nail this stuff perfectly.
I love how this is a product of Trey Parker’s overexhaustion and a last minute idea to incorporate the movie Event Horizon into a Christmas story...and it’s my guilty pleasure tradition to watch this every December!
This episode took a sharp right really fast. Still one of my all-time favorites, y'all. Everything about this is just so brilliant and funny. Hard to believe that this premiered in '04.
