The increasing oil pressure during climbout indicates low oil temperature (the colder oil is thicker, needing greater pressure to move it around the system), and was probably compounded by reducing your rpm and cooling it further. Try keeping the engines up to 2100rpm, then partially closing the oil shutters until the temperature comes up into the low 70's.
Those lock levers are the friction locks for the various controls that make it harder to move the control lever (at least with the mouse, it doesn't affect it if you have a hardware throttle quadrant).
What I think could help this module a lot, on the feature side, would be a modern 8.33kHz radio(perhraps a handheld ICOM on the dash or something) that you could choose whether or not to have available, and a way to ask the ground crew to turn the plane around( on most taildragers I've seen, including the An-2, you can have the tailwheel disconnect from the rudder and have the plane pivot around the mains)
Thank you for the review! Well presented and informative as always. I've been anticipating the 247D release for some time. The quality, amount of unique features and value for money is exceptional. Let's hope it sets a precedent.
The manual mentions about the feathering system. It switches to a different mode than the typical oil pressure system for prop pitch when it goes to feather because of the likely case of engine failure. This process takes about 10 seconds. Until then the feather buttons are held down by an electromagnet. You can only unfeather once the button has popped back out. You press it in again and in another 10 seconds it will unfeather the prop.
What a fantastic aircraft Wing 42 have made here ...great fun with a learning curve and numerous things to clic and press and play about with lol and at an unbelievably good price! ..bought it last week and enjoying it a lot Thanks for another informative and well presented review. cheers
Best video of the many I viewed and best explanation so far. I have her also and blew first engine before I took off and the second in flight after take off but landed her safely. She is a difficult lady lol but searching for old frequency on the radio actually find music from the 1930's . But the engines never really died even when in fire. Could not extinguish with the tools that come with the plane. Left her burning and took off with my new favorite Flysimware Cessna 414AW Beta 1.4.1 Hotfix that works super already.. I recommend her also ;-)
Now THIS is the kind of detail I've been craving and I am still hopeful we will get more GA birds with this "study level" attitude in the near future. There's just one issue... I kept shouting for the wine list from the passenger cabin but you never responded 😆 Great review Mark take care!

It’s definitely value for money and the closest thing we currently have to A2A’s Accusim aircraft, which in itself is something Wing42 can take as a massive compliment. I have to say at this point it is leaving frustrated as I’m finding it pretty much impossible to start in VR which I think is down to the mouse interactions with the primer and wobble pump, I simply cannot seem to ‘hold’ on to them and achieve full travel which I think maybe the issue. That and for the life of me I cannot find where the fuel pressure is! I’m sure my issues are 85% user error, but my time is limited and I’m finding myself gravitating back to the 414 Chancellor which also has its charms perhaps in slightly different ways. Hats off to Wing42, look forward to seeing what they bring to MSFS in the years ahead.
@@SimHangerFS thanks Mark, I had previously convinced myself they were fuel flow gauges for the very simple reason I had never seen them move when I moved the wobble pump. I had another try this evening and again, it was a no-go for an engine start, in frustration I hit CTRL+e and the engines duly fired up right away. So I cut the fuel to stop the engines and to my surprise afterwards I saw the fuel pressure/flow gauges move when I activated the wobble pump, thereafter I was able to start the engines. I can only assume something was amiss with the persistent state and CTRL+e reset something. I will need to see if all is well tomorrow when I try again. 👍
12:04 "Didn't need much runway...like the Junkers". Thick wings drag and cost fuel, but give tremendous lift. They didn't worry too much about fuel, it was cheap in those old days. Today no commercial plane has wing profiles like that, not efficient.
From experience flying small GA's, I think your problem with oil pressure might be caused by the fact your engine and oil is really cool. You should try a couple of minutes of engine warmup prior to taxi
@@SimHangerFS Also the shutters play a huge role. This controls the amount of air going through the oil cooler manifold. It's hard to get down because you can't chase the gauge. The T&P gauges only report temps and pressures before the oil enters the crankcase. Because of this the oil has to cycle through the system before you can know what effect has been imposed on oil temps via the shutter mechanism. IME small changes make a huge difference here. If oil is far too cool then close the shutters completely for about 60 - 90 seconds and then open them up slightly. In about 4 minutes you'll see the effects.
Hi Mark ! Thx for excellent review, I bought this one straight away. High oil pressure, it would come down if you keep the oil little warmer. I must check the recommended temperature in the user manual.
I saw this and all the details, then I saw the devs are keeping the price low because of the cost of so many payware planes being so expensive it drives people away from purchase. I don't even have MSFS installed anymore but I purchased it just to support them
I wonder if this will make it to xbox? Although with prices dropping and availability getting better I’m hopeful this year I can build a PC rig that will be able to run the sim
As always very nice review. The attention to detail on 247D is top of the line, and in some aspects is better than other benchmark aircrafts, like DC6. Few of the points not included int the review: very detailed engine modelling with vibrating exhaust pipes during operation. Fire extinguishing system is not for show, as engines can catch on fire in operated outside of acceptable range. They can catch fire even on startup. There is also exhause smoke. DC6 lacking this effect was the biggest dissapointment for me. And all of this with animated effects. But most importantly, gauges can, and shoud be tapped when in doubt of reading :) Seriously, not getting this beauty is a crime.
I enjoyed looking closely at the engines on this. Every part, line, cable, control arm, and manifold is what is expected on a radial engine. Also the mixture and throttle control arms do animate in the engines!

If you add the Fule in MSFS weights and Balance menu, You can take of with engins started. It's kinda cheating as this module is built around the engin procedures of the real plane. I like the module, the price is right. She's a gentle flyer that will land herself.
When the oil temp is a bit to low it is getting to thick to pump around and pressure rises. You have to be on your toes to get it right during the flight or you damage the engines.
The audio of this plane sounds really distorted, especially with the windows open. It causes crackling in my headphones. No other planes do this in msfs. Does it happen to you?
I've had 10 years of playing flight sims and knowledge about older airplanes especially, and I cannot get this piece of shit to start. It has to be bugged or something. When I move the wobble pump it doesn't make the gauges move. It did the first time, but still wouldn't start. I have no clue, but this was a total waste of my money.
