@@DeJake Nah at that point he had already built an entire housing estate at the edge of the map. It was probably just a safety measure in case he would lose more ground but he didn't lose too many houses and neither castle since then.
Haven't watched any AOE since HidenCup ended and I hadn't realised how much of a difference I can see between the best players and just the good players, just watching this has given me a new perspective on player skill even at 2k+

Watching AOE2 in 4K always cracks me up!! lol. Did you notice that some of those villagers were wearing makeup and 2 of them had facial tattoos? Oh and one of them had a lip piercing, so cool. Switch to 4K next time, and you'll notice those things and much more! 😂🤣😂

Monks need buff against balista elephant: if a group right-clicks to convert an enemy unit only 1 monks should recharge after succesfull conversion not the whole group. Then the monk bcomes playable and a real power on the field.

What's the meaning of Mayans' resources last 10% long? Does that mean they collect resources 10% slower? or they have 10% more resources in every berry bush, sheep, tree, stone or gold tile etc.?
Why would it be a bonus to collect resources slower? When a Mayans villagers takes 10 resources from something, the resource only loses 9 (as an example not exact numbers)
Hi T90, I've followed your channel on and off for some time, so I wish you consider my opinion with the necessary grain of salt. First off, thank you very much for creating the setting, upon which HC5 could occur, I really enjoyed watching the tournament and learning and interacting through chat, I think everything about it was amazing and can't wait for what's in store for the future. - - Now for the constructive criticism that I tried to voice during the event, but quickly found was not the place. - - As a relatively new and inexperienced player I welcome the clear-cut explanations, the careful descriptions and a more or less ordered way of explaining both the general aspects of the game, as well as any specifics that might arise throughout the game, and many times it felt like I was watching old friends exchanging a set of inside jokes about several topics, while they vaguely point out some aspect of the game that is rather obvious to more experienced players once it has brought to their attention. I admit that there must be some degree of pleasing your existing base, but I feel the need to express that for those that show up, this can feel extremely hostile. During the event I attempted to make a parallel with the style, tone and focus of how SC2 or LoL are cast, but soon gave up (again time and place). However, returning to that same parallel I invite you to pay close attention to those E-Sports castings', because, you will be able to follow them without ever playing any of those games. I myself have never played SC2 but am familiar with many of the metas, units and styles of play just from having followed the tournament scene a few years ago; and I believe this is not just due to the fact that as far as RTS are concerned SC2 is strictly speaking easier than AoE2 to understand and play; but because the men and women that cast it understand exactly how to explain these concepts so that anyone can watch and follow along. And this point that I make is really about growing the tournament viewer base. I believe a strategy of casting these that assumes that at all times a large percentage of viewers are tuning in for the first time, is more likely to get people to either become viewers or straight up buy the game, and the more people buy the game, the more you get to have them as viewers on your stream in a more relaxed capacity. - - Anyway, back to my normal, quiet self - - Thank you very much for the content, the work and the quality that you dish out on the daily, monthly, yearly. You should reassess what you think "clickbait" means. The title is correct and a great description of an exciting part of the game. It's not "clickbait" at all, he's just using a phrase to describe the game. I clicked on this video because I liked the title. It's not every game this happens in Age of Empires, especially at this level.
He lost all his eagles. Without them jonslow would chase down his trebs with mangudai, treb down his castle and then he would have lost all his map control in a short time. Then he would have to defend his own base against mangudai, trebs and fast mongol siege. He would have no chance to come back, mongols were just getting to their full potential.
Jonslow's civ was a 'slow momentum' one, starts off a little weak and takes time to really get going. But when it hits lategame it hits HARD. Jonslow had survived mratin's all-in push and had made it to his powerful lategame, as well as having a sizable standing army ready on a small map. Mratin didn't have much of anything left, he had lost almost his entire army, back home he basically had no economy, no unit production buildings, and no techs researched that would counter Jonslow's units. He knew that it was only a few seconds before Jonslow would be knocking on his gates with a force that he had no possible way to answer whatsoever.
Just a side-note: that video a month or two ago by one of the players was just weird. Why? RUclips isn’t the AOE2 production team meeting. So glad to hear you’re feeling that “renewed spirit”.
Randoming Mayans on Arena is a death sentence, gotta be very naive thinking this game was somewhat winnable for the Mayans guy after that quirky start.

I spun up dosbox and played some Dune 2 today. Playing the Mother of RTS from 1992 made me appreciate how good pathing really is in AoE2 DE.
Played my first game of age 25 years ago roughly, still playing the same disc.
