      You and the people who liked your comment didn't listen or comprehend properly then. He gave Olympiad and India its due respect due to his personal, team and patriotic reasons and probably also for being non controversial to his fellow Indians which include me as well, but then a minute later said winning Candidates was personally more important to him and nothing made him more happy than that until now and it is quite understandable why he said that.
      Edit - BTW, not only he said winning Candidates is bigger for him than winning Olympiad but, in fact, he said that it is not even comparable and specifically said that Candidates is the single biggest achievement till now for him, again understandably so.

      @Velvet-ni6pu Месяц назад +4

      @@Nobody-xe7si That would be amazing but I think closed tournaments (unless they have indian organisers) would never want 4 indian players in the mix and would pick roughly equal number of players from the top countries to target a more global audience. Pragg will be in fewer tournaments as Arjun will likely replace him due to his high rating and therefore I can't see Vidit getting any elite tournament opportunities in the future.

Taking it over a longer span of time in the history of chess, it can be said that what is happening now in India is a renaissance. Centuries ago when it made its appearance it was called CHATURANGA. Interestingly the original pieces got their names from the monarchy and the life style that prevailed then. Arjun's arrow celebration tops it all😅, he is the most creative player currently doesn't care about what engine says....has shades of Bobby Fischer's gameplay.
    Some of the openings he played were outrageous the way he trapped players rated from 2600-2700s avg is magical. On the board he is a monster off the board what a humble and sweet personality. Ofcourse Gukesh is playing like an alien 9/10 in board 1 against highest rated players is phenomenal but if someone who has no knowledge of chess views it for fun Arjun's gameplay looks like an art, reminds so much of Brazilian football at its best. Never seen opponents so out of prep and literally giving up in any board except Arjun's. To top it Arjun never looks at his positions on board looks elsewhere calculates in mind and makes the move , that's scary for any player facing him.

To add to what you said, in the last round he payed the SCANDINAVIAN DEFENCE in which the black queen comes out early. This is not recommended even for starters in the game as it can back fire. However he not only deftly handled it but also came out victorious.

      Good observation from your side. If you recall he lost a game in 2022 ( the last round or the penultimate?) while playing Abdus Sattarov. He made only one wrong move (possibly in the whole tournament ) with his knight. the opponent gave a check to simultaneously trap Gukesh's knight. In the process Gukesh lost the game. He was candid to recall and admit this mistake.
