I did this same challenge myself but also without sliding, twice in a week too.
Honestly? This was by far the easiest game to do this for. Phantom Tropic Woods DNI though
(Also I came up with the strat he described for Fleurina lol. I found it by accident and it worked like a charm.)
Yeah, honestly, after some analysis of footage, Ability-less seems to work incredibly well in this game due to it allowing you to be more defensive than with Copy Abilities- which is surprising because you get a counterattack with abilities.
Due to most Copy Abilities lacking invincibility frames( besides specific guards ) unlike their previous predecessors, it's significantly more dangerous to get up in close with bosses, especially when later bosses like Morpho Knight began to retaliate against that mindset. Also not to mention, despite star damage doing relatively the same amount of damage as the previous games, they appear to be more plentiful, but due to that bosses can exploit your greediness in certain situations.
If you truly want to make the Ultimate Cup Z as hellish as, maybe, Soul Melter EX, than Sword ability only would definitely do so due to its pathetic damage output and, of course, lack of invincibility frames.
@@consideratebulbproductions4277 Meanwhile me trying to beat it with Ice where it invalidates like 80% of it(Old stonestrats, lol), but experiences actual hell against Forgo Dedede and just couldn't beat the Soul Orb at the end because the ability's traits are somehow an active detriment there.
Like actually, it was so bad that I just decided to call it quits and not 100% the game. Basically got all the fun I can out of the game and I'm definitly screwed because I'm nowhere near skilled enough to even get to the last fight with anything else, even normal Kirby which seems to be a good pick.
@@consideratebulbproductions4277 I was with you until you put down sword. Sword is great! The damage output with Meta Knight and Morpho Knight evolutions is _incredible_ and if you have full health, you can just throw sword beams and dodge as needed. Also, you get i-frames any time you dodge. And Morpho Knight Sword *_heals you_* when you do a three-hit combo or a spin attack on an enemy.
I don't care about challenge runs, so I Morpho Knight Sword up until Forgo Leon, then ditch it because if you aren't at full health for sword beams, any melee ability is useless against him.

The mad lad did it again! Congratulations on finishing in it so soon while taking care of a child at the same time.
I've realized much later that almost every boss' moves can be avoided by simply floating, even attacks that really don't seem like this would be a solution. Like Dedede's ice pillar attack or 70% of Elfilis' moves that look like they're homing on you no matter where Kirby is.
I might try this challenge myself since I never did it in any previous "true arena" modes but fighting Kirby bosses in a 3D space is just that fun.
Are you sure about the Ice pillar attack? I've tried floating above the ice multiple times when he slams it down and I ALWAYS get hit
@@Meteorz Yup, we can float over it, which was weird to me since the ice shards created by the slam make it look like it could damage us in midair

Morpho Knight in this game would be a better boss if Hal took the EX elements from Star Allies and implemented them in this version of the fight. However, this version of Morpho Knight is better than the regular version in Star Allies because his moves are faster here.
I'm gonna miss this videos. Seeing these no ability run commentaries was something I looked forward to after a Kirby release. Hell they inspired me to try my own no ability arena runs. Good luck on your future Meteorz and thanks for the entertaining content!
And here we are! The Ultimate Cup Z, where everyone is here to duel Kirby! Although, I will say, when I saw the notification for this video, I decided to spend a bit of time not watching it to see how I'd do in this challenge, and I ended up winning after a fair amount of time by just rushing in (Wasn't a very smooth run, but eh)
The bosses of this game do loop through their attacks pretty quickly like Meteorz mentioned, and that aspect was even something that I noticed during my casual playthrough of Isolated Isles
Either way, congratulations on besting this challenge whilst also dealing with the challenge of parenthood!! Definitely gonna miss these videos when you eventually leave
also this isn't relevant to Meteorz specifically but i really love Decisive Battle: Ultimate Z (the song for Ultimate Cup Z's battles) and think more people should be talking about it

In my opinion Chaos Elfilis’s Orb form is easier without an ability since you can inhale her orbs and do big damage with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if you do a full hover over Phantom Dedede's ice slam attack, you can dodge it.
You could do it against the original I'm pretty sure.

Honestly, I’m glad someone finally mentioned how underwhelming the actual Morpho Knight fight is in this game. Frankly, he’s probably the fourth-easiest boss in the whole cup, only beaten out by the mid-bosses, Gorimondo, and MAYBE Tropic Woods. While Morpho doesn’t necessarily need to be as agile as the other knights, his attacks are way too slow and predictable to even be threatening. Even those weird psychic waves, his most dangerous attack, is kinda easy to avoid if you keep moving and stay away from the walls of the arena. Actually, it feels like HAL almost knew how much easier he was, since his arena is half the size of Forgo Leon’s and even smaller compared to Phantom Meta’s arena. I’m just rambling at this point, but I definitely feel like an incredible concept like Morpho Knight needs at least a bit more challenge to back it up. Gotta say though, easily the best song in the game.
I don't think his attacks are necessarily slow. His swings, when finished with his inconsistent teleporting, comes out pretty fast and those beams can do some ruining it you're going melee, but he has the 3D Swordsman issue where you can mostly just avoid his attacks by running- even Phantom Meta Knight added more swings to catch you off-guard!
His fire whirls, however, are the biggest offender to his moveset and comes out particularly slow and leaving him vulnerable for such a long time despite him being the teleporting type.
You do have to give him credit for being one of the bosses that Cockblocks Ranger Abuse, though . Straight-up cancels most Charge attacks lol.
@@consideratebulbproductions4277 That is a pretty fair counter to some of my points, and I do agree with pretty much everything you said, almost every attack Morpho has that isn’t a slash with his sword (or the first two giant sword swings) is pretty slow, such as the fire waves, sword beams, and tornadoes. I’m guessing they likely designed these attacks to be possible to dodge with two souls floating around the arena and getting in your way, but since Morpho rarely fires those off, most of the time his attacks just feel lacking.
My biggest complaint isn’t his difficulty in a vacuum though, but rather how he compares to the other bosses in Forgo Dreams. The fact that pretty much every boss from Phantom Clawroline and beyond is harder than the supposed final challenge of the area is kind of awkward from a progression standpoint. While this doesn’t have much to do with your original reply, I felt that I should bring it up anyways since it’s another problem Morpho faces.
As for the part where he counters Ranger, I can’t speak on that since I’ve actually never fought Morpho with abilities, but I feel that he should at least get some credit for being more difficult with certain abilities.
@@eggwiz5723 I do agree that he was fairly underwhelming compared to other bosses and funnily enough the one before him, Forgo Leon, and that was especially proven when I watched Meteorz's first playthrough of the Postgame.
Both he and Phantom Forgo Dedede were particularly challenging and chaotic, and you would expect the final boss to be the same, but instead you get some butterfly-valkyrie hybrid that isn't as chaotic and active as others- which isn't a bad thing but it completely stops the momentum and ends up creating a "lackluster" fight.
Wonder if there'll be any patch notes increase the speed of Morpho Knight's sudden attacks and the velocity of shockwaves, because it would honestly be lazy to place a somewhat half-assed "Morpho Knight EX" in am entirely new Cup as if it was Star Allies when the game's already complete-feeling as it is.
@@eggwiz5723 Honestly, from what I've seen, all bosses seem to counter pretty well against Copy Abilities to the point that I actually say that doing the game ability-less is more efficient for those who're patient in battles. Seen numerous people, including those with Morpho Knight Sword surprisingly, get challenged by the Ultimate Cup Z, which is good. Upgraded Copy Abilities is meh, though.
@@consideratebulbproductions4277 at first I thought that the upgrading the copy abilities damage was there for the earlier versions to catch up in damage if you liked the earlier version of an ability but then I saw that I could upgrade the masked hammer and I wast just like "Oh no"

Congratulations on pulling this off! I spent a good over 10 hours doing my first run of this true arena because i went with a more purist approach for my first clear, i didn't power up any abilities or used any sort of boost, I opted for a maxim tomato at the very least for the end as it was tough... I ended up going with storm tornado to use, i was mainly looking for stars to grab and throw back. So over my many attempts i did manage to learn a bunch of their attacks, but even here I'm seeing some strats i never even thought to do myself! I definitely want to try and pull this off myself someday too haha
Clawroline is probably one of the hardest indeed, and forgo dedede, it took me way too long to learn how to deal with them, and they hit so hard as well so they were constant run enders, after learning them getting to match 12 wasn't so bad and all that remained was to learn that one, i did it on like my 5th arrival to it i think
I hate Phantom Forgo Dedede, not in a bad way though. HAL absolutely nailed the difficulty of this boss; and fighting against him is a genuine challenge.
Same with me for phantom Tropic Woods, always get hit a least once trying to fight the guy.
I would recommend utilizing the slide kick jump tech when it comes to inhaling as many stars as possible. Bosses like Forgo Leon and morpho knight space out their residual stars in such away that you'll only be able to grab one before they disappear. But with the slide kick technique, you get 1 or even 2 extra stars for damage!
How do you do that?
@@gamesandluigifan7152 It's very easy. All you do is perform a slide, and then after about a half-second, jump. Jumping allows Kirby to keep up his momentum instead of slowing down at the end of a slide. Then, once you land from the jump, repeat the cycle of sliding and jump cancelling.
This has been tested (by Wmex2 I believe) to be faster than simply sprinting or spamming slide.

Personally I had the same opinion about Morpho Knight when I faced him in the post game. Compared to Leon he was a real downgrade. His attacks were really not fast, and the most dangerous attack, the sword combo which pretty much dealt 50% damage of the HP went to Meta Knight instead. Meta Knight was the way more challenging opponent mainly because he floated permanenty and so it was way harder to hit him and you were forced to move way more. Morpho Knight was a rather static fight for the most part unless he teleported.
I must say the most fun and also challenging fights were against our (phantomic) friends Dedede and Meta Knight, especially Dedede's second fight. He gave so few time to hit him and you were forced to move permanently, a very stressful fight overall.

I'm not one to handicap myself in challenges unless the game requires it for some sorta achievement, so kudos for not even dodging! Dodging the phantom bosses is fun as heck though so if you'll excuse me, I'll be rolling around. ;)
I have a theory as to why Masahiro Sakurai doesn't like modern Kirby games. What if he doesn't like characters being possessed?
Think about it, every Kirby game he's created no character gets possessed.
-He directed Kirby's Dreamland, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star, and Kirby's Air Ride. He was also a special advisor for Amazing Mirror.
-He had no involvement in the Dark Matter trilogy, other than voicing DDD in 64. In modern era Kirby the only games I can think of where characters aren't possessed are spinoffs or remakes.
He... he actually did it. The absolute madman actually did it, and all the while trying his absolute best to raise his son!
Seriously, I didn't think it'd even be possible for someone to be able to conquer The Ultimate Cup Z like this, but now I've been proven wrong. Congratulations!
In regards of Morpho Knight in Forgotten Land, yeah, he's honestly not that bad without Copy Abilities due to these particular reasons:
- There's no charging required to shoot out quantities of Stars
- You're capable of being much more active without the abilities
Morpho Knight's essentially a retaliater against players who decides to wait too long in a specific place and get too close to him as he usually teleports to engage his attacks, which mean the majority of Copy Abilities- Ranger, Sword, and Hammer especially( Masked Hammer gets mega wiffs with him ,), struggles against him.
In addition, I feel that the entire orange border surrounding the battle was meant to compensate for his incredibly annoying teleporting that can straight-up prolong the battle- perhaps even his Confusion status as well.
Overall, I'd say he's..... Complicated in regards of why he's even in 2nd Place when Phantom Meta Knight preforms much more quicker and deadly attacks( he's clearly in second due to him being the preultimate boss ), but what I get from his fights is the fact that he seems much more "patient" than the other Knights, so that's something.
id say hes the 7/8 hardest boss in the game
Also looking at some previous True Arena footage, you actually seemed to have struggled with it as much as the others- besides Soul Melter EX, of course, Perhaps you didn't practice as much with the bosses of this game?
( although that may not be the case considering the Continues function can be abused )
Normally with previous arenas (Outside of Soul Melter EX because screw that one)
I always try to go for a better run. Not the case here, simply because of horrible time constraints. This was my first successful run.
Also, this arena took SUBSTANTIALLY less practice overall, as I mentioned in the video.
When you do these runs enough, you could tell right off the bat before even practicing what's difficult, and what's not, regardless of how well you perform at that given time, judging from how well you can predict a pattern alone

I don’t actually think Morpho knight is bad. I just think he’s designed different then Meta knight and Galacta knight.
He’s a slow teleporting heavy hitter. Which is his own play style. He isn’t meant to be a fast dodger. He’s supposed to be a slower knight.
Maybe it’s because I still have problems with his battles. But I just don’t agree about Morpho Knight.
Just re-did that cup, and that butterfly asshole hit me with his shockwave attack after teleporting _right next to me._ That's supposed to be a ranged attack, but he just thought "nah, screw the rules this time"
The Knights can be straight up savage in this game.
The thing is, Morpho is too slow for his own good and his attacks cover like not alot of ground. You only cant camp him out
Honestly Morpho can be pretty tricky, he constantly dodges my attacks at the last second. It took me four tries to beat him the first time, his patterns felt so eradic at first

I respect "No Ability" runs, however I think they are significantly easier than using an ability like Sword. Star projectiles do a respectable amount of damage and can be shot out from far away. Sword does little damage and has to be done within striking range.
This could just be me but it also feels like the Star Bullet's were buffed in Forgotten Land as well, by doing more damage. I could be imagining it though...

It's kinda surprising just how much things in this game can be dodged by just jumping or floating. In past games, bosses usually punished you for that.
Nah, it was pretty easy to just float over attacks in last games too.

Especially the majority of Chaos Elfilis (first form) attacks.
All the Spear projectiles that he shoots at you (even the up, down and mix variation) don't target Kirby if he floats.
The most irritating for me is the Giant Phantom Spear Strike in the second phase.
This really should be an attack that punish you for hovering too long in the air.
Also what is the point of all those attack chains with the spear projectiles if you just can float above it and don't get hit.
@@cannabishornliu6119 Chaos Elffilis, if their spear is enhanced with Morpho Flame, will spawn 8 columns of rotating tornadoes that can't be avoided by floating if all of their beams miss, also I'm pretty sure the Up variant spear projectiles does target you if you're floating- at an awkward angle, that is.
Also it's funny that you said that the Giant Spear attack should be a move that punishes if stay in the air too long when it literally is lol. Hovering is limited in this game, and you'll mist likely be hit by the projectiles and even the spear if you stay too long in the air- unfortunately that's kinda nullified when you can just reset your floating by just hitting the ground once.

I think my my issue with this challenge is how busted hivering is. Bosses in this game are not designed to hit you while youre hovering most of the time.
For maximum challenge, not hovering unless you truly need it (like tropic's big breath or chaos elfilis's downward spears) would probably be a good addition. Jumps, successive jumps l, and kickslides should serve 99% of situations.

Funny, I am pretty sure base sword ability is harder then no abilities, as it's pitiful attack power and range make you have to get close to the enemies, and without dodging, you can't counter attack.
For context, it took me 30 minutes with base sword + blocking + dodging to get to chaos elfilis, and 15 minutes fighting it, just to die without getting him to below a third hp.
Yeah, I would never claim No Ability is the hardest way to beat the arenas, even in past games there were abilities that were outright useless, and make defeating bosses significantly more difficult.
Even base Hammer's pretty pitiful in this game, doing around the same damage as two stars when chargee and lacking the abusable Invincibility frames from other games.

Definitely not as hard as soul melter, though since it's the first 3d kirby game people tend to have widely different opinions about it depending on how natural the move to 3d is for them.
It's only a AAAAA If you do the Hammer Super Jump Glitch because it spawn Even More Chaos Elfilis And It Makes the Fight Even Better if you think just one was ehh having more attacking at the same time Even in both phases makes it better so it really good!
@@Joe-yx1gq I doubt people would think one was eh, but two of them was definitely significantly more difficult dye to both of them covering their weaknesses in addition to lasers doing high damage.

The Morpho Knight fight is a solid basis for an amazing.
But for now the game lacks ironically the fire in this fight that the other Phantom bosses have.
He was already challenging with an ability, but No Abilities kinda fucked with his difficulty.
I remember the first time I fought Morpho Knight it was an incredibly enjoyable fight.
Then, I fought him again with no ability for fun, and it was easier

This this is a better game, star allies has the better true arena unless we get dlc, I feel it was still holding our hand a bit in ultimate cup z. Silly Dillo, Leon, elphilis should be harder. Hopefully a meta knightmare with 3.0 version of the bosses
What do you mean Forgo Leon should be harder? He was already particularly challenging lol. First phase Chaos Elffilis was definitely much more easier with No Ability, but it shouldn't be scoffed at with a melee ability.
So about Meteorz's Morpho rant. Uh...are we sure we want HAL to add Morpho Knight EX? That will be a real nightmare.
I honestly don’t care about Morpho Knight in this game it is still a fun battle and easily one of my favorites so I don’t really care about difficulty and I never cared about difficulty because come on guys Kirby is meant to be a relaxing game.

After recently replaying every arena since RTDL id say that, while definitely not as hard as soul melter ex I had a decently tough time with this. For me it was much harder than the 3ds games and RTDL. In this game there's a handful of fights which have fairly unpredictable attacks where as in those arenas you can easily beat nearly every boss without taking any damage with pure memorization where as in this game there were a bunch of fights that I could almost never do without taking damage, though there are still plenty of attacks you can dodge with just memorization. Also I do have to note that my opinion about this is probably not very accurate since I tend to avoid using "cheese" strategies such as extended floating over multiple attacks in a row or sucking up the orbs during the spinning laser attack against chaos elfilis. I do this for just because it makes the fights more fun for me and it does make the arena as a whole way harder though, but I don't expect other people to play it in this way.
Though if you want to have a challenge which is easily harder than soul melter ex try to beat this with level 1 sword ability without dodging. I've almost done it using the dodge. Next I'll try to do it without using it. Using the level 1 sword makes a lot of the fights really hard, but also really fun. In particular phantom meta knight and morpho knight actually become quite difficult and in my opinion they become a lot better. In fact with level 1 sword i'd say that morpho knight becomes one of the harder bosses because of the sudden teleport counter attacks. Also a lot of the fights become endurances where some of them tend to last around 5 minutes (the final boss becomes a 15-20 minute fight) and add on to that the fact that you have to constantly be really close to the enemy to hit it making attacking much more risky.
So like they have done with Star Allies, maybe they will make a harder version of this tournament (upgrade) so that these players like you who are constantly complaining eh wasn't really that hard, or "you know if he come to think about it, you could avoid all these attacks and I'm kind of disappointed it isn't harder." Yada yada yada.... yeah so people like you can be satisfied. Either it's not hard enough or it's too easy or some say too hard. I say just enjoy a game and the tremendous effort Hal team puts into it and show us how to beat the arena and learn tips which you did well I might add. But these comments get annoying after a while. Keep in mind this is just my opinion and I don't mean any offense to you the player. Obviously you are a skilled player and so maybe this is just starting to get a little dull to you or simply you like highly challenging games. But people like me spent a lot of time trying to beat this final arena and it was very frustrating. We're not all super skilled players and it takes time to learn. That being said, I still enjoyed this game, but not as much as I enjoy Star Allies.

I think the reason why I think morpho knight doesn’t get exclusive attacks when he warps you’re everything is because it would be kinda unfair, like if it only warped you’re controls or just you’re vision that would be fine but because it does both it wouldn’t make it fair.

My first run of the ultimate cup z was actually ability less.
The SillyDillo (including the Phantom) double spinning dance always prioritze the wall for bouncing, so stay around the open area for safety

14:57 Pretty sure you did take a sliver of damage there since the game registers you guarding before doing the slide kick. Don't really blame you for that though, seeing as you quite literally had your back up against the wall lol
yea soo while agree that forgo phantom dedede is easly the hardest boss from forgo dreams
chaos elfilis for me was WAY worse simply beacuse of how much health he has and the amount of attacks he has the sectonia laser the bouncing attack can be very hard to avoid
but id say the second phase is easier to master but harder on your first try simply beacuse of his damage

I feel the Morpho Knight fight was pretty easy in isolated isles to give you a bit of a breather after the insanity of forgo Leon. Though I feel it would've been cool to give us "Phantom Morpho Knight" or something for the colloseum. Ah well haha.
I mean his figure description says “let the most difficult battle of the new world begin!” So I doubt they made him easy on purpose
I've actually been trying to do an abilityless, dodgeless, boostless run myself since I haven't had this much fun going abilityless since Return to Dreamland. I'd want to do no puffing but there some points I feel I need to I just turned it to minimal puffing. So far, I haven't got past Phantom Meta Knight. I find that his mix of damage output and quick movement always trips me (Also, I've fallen for Upper Calibur an embarassing amount of times.
31:49 I just tilted my head and controller sideways and it really made a difference. Unless that causes issues for you I’d say it’s a good tactic. Also, a bit of interesting lore, when you defeat morpho knight, he flies off with a shape similar to the jamba heart.
I find it rather poetic that Meteorz' *last* Boss Endurance video is of the *first* Boss Endurance that's actually canon.
