- From their Japan tour, but not the same concert "In Japan!", there's some differences in this performance and the one from the album. I think there's more footage... they performed "Hallelujah Day" and "Superstition" from this concert.. if i find it i'll post it. Enjoy
My band Vodka Collins were the opening act on the Jackson 5's first show in Japan on April 27, 1973 at the Imperial Theater in Tokyo. So good to see this, great memories.
RIP..... was hoping to ask you about the jacksons. What a missed opportunity.
This was soo cute, when Michael dropped his lip for that note :)
I love the robot dance omg it is way before dancing machine :O
Minecraft worlds true like 4 months
Why do some people get over excited about other people's mistakes? Even MJ made mistakes at times while performing and laughed it off. Marlon started taking more leads at this time. It wasn't a role he was used to so he had to learn how to sing and dance in sync all over again. The Marlon that we saw 2 years after that was more polished and more comfortable in his role. Yes, he didn't have the strongest voice but what he lacked in natural talent he gave in spirit. He's an entertainer through and through and and was an integral part of the jackson 5. Michael was the stand out but it was a group effort. It takes a lot of balls to get up there and for a 16 year old, he wasn't doing too bad.
Marlon was the closest to Michael in age,so he seems to be judged the hardest,Marlon is a very talented dancer, could match Michael any day,Michael was so creative, the others didn't have that extra that Michael had
I personally get annoyed with Marlon because he was always trying to imitate Michael, I get annoyed mostly because he was in front of the camera and all I wanted is to see MJ
Wtf
leila cordeiro Omg you’re such an overzealous Michael fan. Marlon never copies Michael. He never once wanted to be like Michael. If anything Michael “copied” him. Marlon and Michael made the dance moves TOGETHER! Marlon was the main choreographer for the group. Michael even said in his book that he learned a lot from Marlon, he said and I quote “I always knew how to dance, but I’d always watch Marlons moves.” Know what you’re talking about before speaking smh 🤦🏾♂️
@@alienator4684 Michael Jackson fans are too tier annoying and make up negative narratives about the other brothers to uplift Michael. Extremely annoying and toxic fan base.
sing it marlon! nice voice
doing the robot and this is before Dancing Machine
I was thinking the same thing. Mike was always spectacular.
Yes
Yes Adam I bought some VHS tapes from you. How are you doing brother? Almost 30 years. My oldest daughter was 5 or 6 then. She is 32 expecting her 3rd child. My middle daughter was 2 then. She has a son.
@BIG A I responded without clicking your name. Are you still collecting
they recorded dancing machine this year
Get it, Marlon!
Other MJ lol
Marlon killed that robot! Did y’all see him glide across the floor?
Michael Jackson fez
Patrick Tuliau she’s talking about how marlon glided across the stage, marlon slided across the stage on the left of mike
I love there version of this classic Temptation song and when they start doing the robot up on stage# 😃😃😃😃😍😍😍😍
my my Jackie is so fine good lord❤
girl jackie is to fine even as a old man he still is fine 😀
Yes!!!
Katrina Smith yesssss yesssss even today
1:38 Wow! Their singing! Even better than the original! So pure!
I saw this same concer in Oklahoma City on March 2,1973 with the Commodors opening! Do you have this whole Japan concert?
Have you been able to locate anymore video clips from those '73 concerts in Japan? Specfically, would love to see them performing "I Wanna Be Where You Are" during that concert tour! They really jammed and the vocal harmonies were spectacular and tight on that number!
I'm sorry my friend i haven't.... honestly, I'd love to find the full footage to this concert. The clip that I'd really like to find from this tour is the J5 Medley (IWYB/ABC/TLYS) Mainly because I love how his vocal register has lowered, yet they still sing the medley in the original key. Plus this is the era where he starts to develop some of the trademark Michael Jackson movements... so honestly any footage from 1973 is pure gold!
lol really cool and cute to see them before the BAD Tour :D
Precious!

Marlon: (sings) It was the third of September. That day I'll always remember, yes I will. 'Cause that was the day when my daddy died. I never got a chance to see him, never heard nothin' but bad things about him. Mama, I'm depending on you to tell me the truth. Mama just hung her head and said, son.
the band was cookin man
2:35
Me: And that ain't right.
2:36
he look so youn i was expecting the cute little voice. i wasn't prepared for all that sexy that just came pourin out. he dropped a little bass on me there. go 'head lil Michael
+CD Banks Michael had a beautiful lower register (just like Jackie). But in their harmonic setup, his area is that 1st tenor, "2nd" falsetto range. Think of it like Jermaine in "I AM LOVE" but with a light tenor aura, and a range that will go all the way up.
Smh yall all hype for michel like he is singing this song by him self he just only sang a short vocal part on this yall dont marlon no credit at all yall only acknowledge michael and dont even notice the brothers
9 years later, yeahh lmao that puberty voice did him good😭😭
I have a quick question, so there's a off the wall performance from 1979 but it's from the Inglewood show and mikes wearing the rwy outfit, anywho at the beginning it shows the song title plus in Japanese language like this ^ opening right here, is there any way you might know if these live performances came from a certain Japanese channel or something?
Footage from "Hallelujah Day" is around RUclips, but it's not the full song. :/
Yeah, i know and it sucks. I've heard they have footage of them performing "Superstition"
0:27 😢 his robot was the best man
Thanks for the post .... !!!!
J5!!!!💙💙💙💙💙💙

We new the jacksons5 music videos
Wow michael doing the robot dance a year before dancing machine came out and was even starting to sound more akin to his mature voice.
the other brothers suddenly became comatose after Michael blew up and left them in the dust. I don't understand this because all of them were talented.
they were in the back for a while but at the same time they knew they wasn’t going to get much attention with the news of him leaving
@@cccaai not true the reason they didn’t get big is because they didn’t have catchy songs to helping get them big not a lack of talent or Michael. Catchy music is what gets you big and since they didn’t have that they’re full potential was never shown
They simply got married too early, had kids, then instead of helping out in the recording studio, they went on vacations with their money or spent it on other things. But most importantly, they didn't have good management or record deals after they fired Joseph. And if they made a solo album, they didn't tour solo. Their solo music videos were regular. Nothing great. Not enough hits. That's understandable for everyone except Jermaine. He had what it took to be as big as Janet. Maybe even Michael
@@moonrocked nah they just wasn't talented enough. Point blank, they're talented to make it to fame and be successful just not enough to go solo. Listen to Torture I'm sorry that song was flat until Michael came on
@@fbird90nw talent has nothing to do with fame if that was the case they would’ve been bigger than Madonna, since they’re way more talented than her. Also the brothers are way more talented musicians than mike was so I don’t get what you mean by not that talented unless you don’t know enough about the Jackson’s to even have this discussion and your just going based off of word of mouth by other people. Fame has to do with two thing hits and image. They had the image down but they didn’t have the hits to launch them to megastardom like mike did. To say they weren’t as talented as mike is definitely a lie. One of the brothers was able to master every instrument at the age of ten, mike couldn’t do that.
This was 1972
If it was 1972 Michael's voice Wouldn't sound like this puberty really didn't hit until 73 cause that's the year he turned 13
This was 1973 even though they had the same outfits in 1972 they had a tour early 1973 like around March in here they’re in Japan early 1973
@@ct9411 Michael was 15 in 1973
@@FabsKebabz he was 14 here but would turn 15 in august
@@dottybambnithat’s right Michael is 14 years old and marlin was 15 years old cause Michael and marlin is year apart
One few times i seen marlon sing one of the leads 🔥
What I find very strange and weird about this song, is that they say in the song "It was the 3rd of September, that day I will always remember, cause that was the day that my daddy died". MJ was buried on September 3rd, 2009. WTF?
ehm... you don't believe in coincidence ? Wel it is a coincidence!
The Jackson five just happend to play the song. It's a cover. The original is done by The Temptations
+iloveyou75204 Are u sure Michael was buried on September 9, 2009? That sure is a long time from his death. BTW, that song was written by Norman Whitfield (Motown producer), and recorded by the Undisputed Truth, and the Temptations in 1972. I think the Temptations won a GRAMMY with the song in '73. It was PURELY a coincidence.
Foster Mac I believe it was mockery. I know MJ didn't sing the song first, and it was just a cover, but none the less MJ did sing this song. I believe it was the Elite's way to mock MJ. He was buried way too late, he should of been buried, they waited so he could be buried like what this song was saying, on the 3rd of September.
iloveyou75204 I guess we are able to believe what we want to believe . . . .
Foster Mac Speak for yourself. You can't speak for me.
Which date was this concert if someone can help me out?
1:27 Well never mind. Mama's a granite monolith. Who needs to worry about pebbles?
so it was 1973 when he started doing the robot
Are you sure this is 1973????
yes, no question about it
Man, Marlon can not perform! Here's another performance where you see Marlon always looking over to Jackie and Michael. If you watch any other performances, you'll see Jackie and Michael in sync, rarely missing a step but Marlon...you'll see he's still messing up steps or not in sync.
+cbright76 I didnt see it. I thought you were talking about his singing (they should have let Tito lead this one in his natural voice, or let Jackie sing this in a lower register. They both have more range than Marlon, and can enunciate and hold the notes longer and more melodically. But the dancing . . .I just don't see what you're talking about.
+Foster Mac When you watch the performance, Michael and Jackie are looking forward, in sync with each other. Marlon, on the other hand, you see his head turn towards Jackie and Michael, like he's doesn't want to mess up. Examples: 0:15 - his index finger should be over his mouth, not his eye. 0:23 - moves his head when everyone else is still. 1:31- 1:45 head turn towards Jackie. 2:20 - you see Marlon turn his head back from looking at Jackie. 2:50 - 2:58 head turn towards Jackie.3:03 - 3:08 head turn towards Jackie. 3:23 - 3:36 head turn towards Jackie.
cbright76 I'll take your word for it. I'll say this: unlike other commenters on You Tube, you back up your statements with investigative proof. Hard to argue with that. Maybe he was watching them to see if they were frowning at his singing. Lol.
The dancing honestly fine there just feeling the rhythm
incorrect, just enjoy
