Thank you SO much for this video of our sweet little island. It was heartbreaking to see so many places that we've loved over the years washed away (especially our beloved Mitchell's Sandcastles and Beachview Cottages). But your video showed me the island through new eyes. I never realized how large some of the resorts are until now - which makes me miss Mitchell's all the more. Please keep your encouraging videos coming. They are such a blessing to those of us who are so anxious to return to Sanibel.
Excellent coverage of the island video! Thank you so very much for this.@5:20 I appreciate how you mentioned Seaside inn,Summer of 42, and Surfrider (Formerly) to show us where they were 🙏 such a great loss for those places! Such a beautiful island paradise 🥰 again thank you and great job 👏
We have been visiting Sanibel since 1988 every year sometimes twice a year. Alas our beloved Shalimar resort was totally lost, but good news. Like a phoenix rusing from the ashes its being rebuilt and hopefully its not too long before we get to stay there again. My heart goes out to all who were affected by hurricane Ian.
Thanks so much for doing these. We will be back in November for the first time in 2 years. SOOOOO looking forward to seeing Sanibel and its recovery. It's a special place.
This is a phenomenal video. Feeling very out of the loop here in CA, but a life-long Sanibel vacationer / owner at Sanibel Cottages and Casa Ybel makes me grateful for this so I can see what's really going on on the island. I appreciate you taking the time to put this together. 🙏
Wonderful video update, thank you for doing this! Amazing progress in the last two years. We're headed to Sanibel for the first time since Ian, staying at Periwinkle Park in early December. Cannot wait!❤😊😊😊
Thank you for sharing this video. We have stayed at the sundial several times so it was good to see what it looked like. We will be there for Thanksgiving this year, but we’re staying on Estero Island but we will be coming to Sanibel. I just hope the shells come back.
Great video. . I have been wondering what the area around the Blue Dolphin (now it's gone) looked like. You nailed it!! Thanks for your time and effort for a thorough presentation!!!
All my favorite restaurants are gone, Docs on Captiva, lazy Flamingo, The Sand Bar, Tho Mad Hatter. Sanibel/Captiva won’t come back in my lifetime. Stayed there August before Ian, cabin where we stayed is gone.
Wondering if you had any shots or a before/after of Silver Key Beach? It looks like the bayou is open to the ocean now. Definitely one of my favorites spots.
Yes a great spot! We have this one we did 4 years ago. Silver Key Beach, a hidden piece of paradise on Sanibel Island. ruclips.net/video/ffIv4l3kzYE/видео.html We will see if we can get back there again.
If the lighthouse survived with minimal damage, why don't people build and live in lighthouse type houses? If I had the money or wherewithal I would love to do that! Lighthouses have been surviving for hundreds of years. Resilient AND beautiful. I feel for ALL the folks who've lost so much in the past hurricanes. North Carolina...my heart breaks for those folks too.
Even after IAN, Sanibel & Captiva wasn't the same anymore. The Parking lot at Lighthouse, was direkt at the beach, before IAN u had to go threw Dunes 😢
Thanks for a great update, very detailed. Were you walking along as your drone flew overhead? I was also wondering how the bike trails are coming along?
You sound like a warm and caring person... The long time residents really appreciate your kind words... It really helps to have support from such wonderful people as you. Your kind words are very helpful....
Thank you for this great video. We have been visiting Sanibel for 46 years, but it is so sad to view the destruction
God Bless our sweet Sanibel/Captiva Islands! We’ve been visiting since 1995. 😔🥰❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you! We love our islands too.
One of the most beautiful places on earth!
Agreed!!
Not anymore. 😊
Thank you for identifying buildings/places. That is so helpful to get an idea of what the pictures are of.
You’re welcome! I know it can be hard to figure out what’s what with just a drone shot.
😢

Will keep them coming! I’m happy the video gave you a new perspective on the island.
@@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide Thank you!! Keep up the great work! :)
100% getting better
Thank you for sharing this video that gives us hope for full restoration soon!
You are so very welcome!

Well done video. Lots of memories
Thank you!

We are so happy you are returning!
Thank you so much for this video. So happy our home survived Milton. Can’t wait to return to beautiful Sanibel.
So glad to hear your home is okay!

That’s very kind of you. Thank you!🙏
Thanks Nick, Lori & Max! Terrific informative and entertaining video well-shot, as always!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Very nicely done! Thank you.
You are so very welcome.
Thanks Nate for sharing hoping to get our condo finished by the first of the year. Sure has been a long ride. Praying for no more hurricanes. 😊
Very nicely done! Great drone control. Loved getting to see where we're supposed to be staying in December 🤞
Thank you!🙏 I hope you enjoy your stay!
Thank for this informative video Sanibel looks virtually unscathed from Helene and Milton 💕🙏🏻
Yes, Sanibel was very fortunate this time.
I have only been there once but I loved Sanibel and Captiva. I hope it will be restored better than ever before. You gotta love a drone. Thank you.
Yes Sanibel and Captiva are special places. Thank you for the well wishes for our area. ❤️
Wonderful video update, thank you for doing this!

We're so glad to hear you are coming back to Sanibel! Periwinkle Park is a great choice!
We loved coming here during the winter from Minnesota. But since the hurricane we have chosen other places to visit in the south instead
Thanks for the great video and especially the the identity of the different condos...
You are so welcome!

We will have a junonia waiting for you :)
@@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide That would be wonderful! My 16 year old granddaughter found a junonia on Kice Island last year!🥰
Great video. . I have been wondering what the area around the Blue Dolphin (now it's gone) looked like. You nailed it!! Thanks for your time and effort for a thorough presentation!!!
Glad to help, it is tough to see how much things have changed.
Excited to return to Sanibel. Planned vaca in March 2025! Thank you for the update!
Awesome!
So appreciate your efforts. Signed, former Periwinkle Park resident wiped out by Ian.
Thank you! We hope things are looking up for you.❤️

Yes some of our favorites as well! ❤️
Thank you. I love Sanibel
Wow.... no people. Even as some of the properties are repaired, it is going to be strange to be surrounded by empty properties.
Beautiful Sanibel Island I noticed all the look the same
We loved it, boatriding and so much more but after those several Storms it lost my Florida taste, so sad
this is great but I am a little sad
Thank you so much for updating us. Will you be heading up to Captiva as well?
We already have!
Closed captiins would be appreciated!!
You should be able to press the CC button to get the closed captions.
Glad to see the damage wasn't severe. Is there a website you can recommed that has info about which resorts are open?
Probably best to check with the Chamber of Commerce

How are the bike paths doing?
Is the JN Ding Darling park now open. If not, when is it due to open?
Unfortunately not yet and they have not posted a projected date.
As the water in the Gulf of Mexico continues to heat storm intensity will increase until no one will live on the coast of Florida.
Even after IAN, Sanibel & Captiva wasn't the same anymore. The Parking lot at Lighthouse, was direkt at the beach, before IAN u had to go threw Dunes 😢
Are there still a good selection of restaurants still open?
Yes there are, Doc Fords, Timber’s, The Grill, Mud Bugs, Sanibel Deli come to mind. Check the Sancapguide.com website for up to date info
MotherNature is taking her beach back….
Where is the white house that use to be next to the lighthouse?
Sadly the keepers cottages washed away in Hurricane Ian
Thanks for a great update, very detailed. Were you walking along as your drone flew overhead? I was also wondering how the bike trails are coming along?
I was voice recording what I was seeing in my screen. Bike paths are good! They are adding a few more trails as well!
lots of denial 🍀
Aeration is great, but music is just a distraction and takes away from the video.
Until the next one DeSantis is way over his head. Should not be a Gov . Of any place.😊
Dont live there
There is a reason why they are called BARRIER ISLANDS. No sympathy for those who build there.
I lived there for 2 years and prices were soaring until Ian.Most people there have multiple homes so while it sucks they will not be homeless.
Large sandbars are defined as barrier Islands. I'm surprised they haven't started building on oyster beds in the Gulf of Mexico
Some people live there are not rich. Horrible of you! No sympathy? You a B
