    Installed big brake calipers on the front of my c5 corvette. Lots of people have done this but I have not yet seen anyone still able to keep the 17'' wheels in the front. Installing c6 Z06 rear brake calipers on the front of the c5 will hopefully accomplish this for me. Let me know if you guys have any questions on todays video & ill be posting links for all the products below this description.

    Oh man you got to lift in your garage My father has every tool available You could imagine but he never bought a lift. Even when he owned the shop we never had a home lift.
    Couldn't use a straight fitting for the brake line hose instead of that 90° angle one and not have to grind the caliper

    What's wrong with the stock brakes? I did 2-piece stock sized wilwood rotors, hawk HPS pads, and SS lines, stock calipers and they're great. Back when I had nitto nt05's 200 treadwear tires on it the brakes exceeded the grip of the tires, hit the brakes too hard and the abs would kick in. Now with nt01 100 tread tires its perfect.

    Car looks awesome with those calipers! I have C6 ZO6 replicas on my C5 coupe. Do you think I'll need spacers for the 18" front wheels with this set up?

      No you shouldn’t they should clear them.

    got the Calipers installed. they work great with the 17" C5 Z06 wheels up front. I was planning on going with C7 Z06 wheels but that will require longer wheel studs and a 10mm spacer. Just a heads up for anyone that is thinking of going that route. the design of the C7 wheel isn't aggressive enough coming off the hub and it hits the new caliper.
    also don't use the factory size 4 small pads as you loose about 30% of your contact area. don't ask me how I know but I know. LOL

    I have stock needs, so no way will I be messing with such a critical safety system. just because " it fits". is not enough for me. I would need some way to restore the braking system balance if non specified parts are installed in the system. experimenting is for track only.

  • @SharkEsq

    Interesting idea, but I'm confused. You are threshold braking to the point the stock brakes with track pads is inadequate, yet, you install cross-drilled rotors? You either were NOT getting everything out of your stock brakes, or you are not experienced enough to know that cross-drilled rotors will, not could but, will crack from track temperatures. You also went to replacing calipers and rotors before adding brake ducting that would cool the rotors to make the stock brakes with track pads work well. And PowerStop track day pads do not compare to actual track compounds, as you see with the Hawk pads. Not trying to sound condescending, just making observations.

    • @richardelliott8352
      @richardelliott8352 Месяц назад

      drilled rotors were needed back when pads required off gassing to keep contact with the rotors. now pads have improved to where they are just for show in most applications. I favor more swept area over holes that look " racy".

    Any issues with upsetting the braking bias by just changing out the stock front rotors for the C6 rear calipers/rotors?
    I'm thinking if you run a square brake setup at the 4 corners, you are going to need to add a propprtioning valve?

    • @JJBanuelos
      @JJBanuelos  10 месяцев назад +1

      No issues with braking with current setup, but yeah I may need to run a adjustable proportional valve if I did a square brake setup. We’ll see I’ll keep you in touch once I get to that stage

    • @m.davideberly1503
      @m.davideberly1503 10 месяцев назад +1

      I'm having issues with something close to this issue. We haven't figured it out yet. For some reason I don't get a full pedal and having trouble Stopping. the pedal is hard like no vacuum but there is plenty of vacuum. you can pull the check valve 5 minutes after the car shuts off and hear the vacuum release. I'm running the C6Z Goodridge G Stop Brake lines with a banjo fitting but can't see that as being a problem.

  • @m.davideberly1503
    @m.davideberly1503 10 месяцев назад

    I did the 4 rear Calipers on the car. it would not stop the way it should. We thought it was a booster problem as it had a hard pedal. that was not the problem. no air in the system. used a Tech 2 scanner to work the ABS module. nothing worked. put the factory brakes back on and everything's is fine. it may work with these up front and the factory in the rear. all we can figure is since everything is exactly the same resistance and things it's not getting the proper pressures where it needs to go. Mine is an 01 and you can't change the front to rear Bias like you can on a 99 and below.

    • @JJBanuelos
      @JJBanuelos  10 месяцев назад

      That’s strange I wonder if adding a adjustable proportional valve would help with the pressures?
