Just wanna say that the long intro wasn't something I "stuck with you through," but actually one of the highlights of the video for me. Theorycrafting and teambuilding content is super fun!
Regarding the long intro - as a game design/game theory nerd, I started watching your wideos *because* of your explanations for teambuilding and move choices. Honestly, I'd watch you just talking about the current meta or whatever for hours on end.
After hearing Wolfey’s iconic anime one-liners, such as “Pikachu, use pikachu blast!” and “Entei, Dodge” followed by “Enteeiii”, I’d really love a Pokémon anime with Wolfey as the protagonist.
@@AshenDust_ He’d also be hilarious as the antagonist or hopelessly chaotic rival. Honestly, can we just have a show with a bunch of Wolfey’s personalities interacting
I really appreciate the intros where you explain your approach to building teams, even as someone who isn't into VGC personally. Your explanations are nice to listen to and they add a lot of useful context for the rest of the video, so I hope you keep doing them in the future!
22:00 Moments like this are what makes Wolfey’s editors so great. Very few people are gonna appreciate it (I didn’t even fully register it was an edit, I had to go back), but little stuff like that compliments Wolfe’s great personality so well.
I can’t see it Either it’s a really well hidden edit or it’s the obvious edit, and from how you worded your comment I didn’t think it’s the obvious one
Wolfey: Never use Stone Edge, this is me on Worlds 2013. It's garb-ooooo! Me: *Misses 6 of 8 Stone Edges in my qualifier rounds for Asia Players Cup 2021* I will heed your word, great champion.
I sometimes wonder if accuracy stats are bugged in pokemon. Stone edge missing seems like a universal constant, but i usually feel pretty confident about using p-blades even though the difference is only 5%, and you technically have 30% chance to miss at least one pokemon. I also feel like i miss rock tomb half the time, but i absolutely never miss snarl
It's good on coil users, or hone claws. Unfortunately hone claws itself sucks and the only really viable coil user is Zygarde, who cares much more about doing other, more impactful things. So yeah, niche move.

Yooooo this is like the best of *all* worlds, the long form vgc content us og's crave, wolfe glick back against the wall going for #1, detailed breakdown like his analysis videos, and funny and well timed edits from a good editor! Edit: too bad this format is about to be over I'd love to see wolfey somehow manage to get #1 in the world with calyrex-no-horse next lol
The editing on this video is so good. I was scared it might just basically be a stream vod, but there's a good effort to keep up the pace of what's happening, and a lot of great small jokes.
I Agree with Strike! that long intro, getting a look into your mental processes for team building was phenomenal! Glad you were able to take a break (i enjoy your gurlboss nuzlocke content too) and come back to something you enjoy.

I appreciate that Surging Strikes edit on 2:00:43. Sick edit. I also appreciate Wolfey's thoughts on timer wins. Use whatever is allowed. Losing due to a self-inflicted drawback won't help anybody.
If the opponent is going to play such a slow and grindy team then they are just bringing it on themselves in my opinion. I'm sure he's won a fair few of his games because of the timer as well.
Just wanna say, I love the teambuilding intros. as someone who really wants to be good at VGC, it's very helpful to see how you think about teambuilding.
Yeah this is my favorite video you’ve released and I’ve been watching every video for the past year. I watch because it makes me a better player, and this video checked every box: teambuilding theory, a niche Pokémon that isn’t used much but has solid potential, a lot of games to learn adaptability, and great commentary so I can learn about every move you make. Please do more of these. Amazing work
Came for the Jaiden Animations collab, but stayed cause I really enjoyed how you explain and know such a ridiculously insane amount of mechanics that speaks to my MtG player side. The insane interactions in Pokémon are very reminiscent of mechanics and interactions within MtG. I look forward to checking out your series on getting #1. New fan for sure! High 5s from Seattle!
Love the intro, and the way you talk about your opponents, its the respect and awareness necessary in a winner, the way you at one point dismiss claims your opponent threw and say you just caught them off and turned the momentum feels really respectful of their ability, and the potential for things to turn around in a flash in this metagame
A lot of people have already said this but I also think that the intro where you explained your teambuilding process was actually incredibly interesting. It's really cool and useful to get an insight into how such a good player thinks (in any sport/game) and you were incredibly clear and concise in the points you made - would love them to stick around for the future! :)
Of all the VGC videos i’ve watched this has been one of the most enjoyable - top tier editing - excellent personality - interesting tactics - the intro - keep up the good work Wolfey!!
The intro really allows us (well I can only speak for me I guess) to see into your head and really understand the team. And apply that knowledge to other team building strategy’s. Thanks for being so awesome!

Very happy to see you having an interest in this type of thing again. Never played vgc or even ladder but i thoroughly enjoy watching you do so. I hope the break treated you well!
nice to finally see a highlight on some poison types. Some of them with strong secondary typings (Eternatus, Nidoking, etc.) are actually really strong right now and I would love to see more of them. Speaking of which, can you do a nidoking video? It's actually really nice right now, and has a combination of unwallable stabs + mega horn / ice beam / thunder bolt that ensures you can hit every pokemon for neutral STAB at worst.
These laddering videos are honestly some of my favorite ones, I find myself watching him push morpeko to number one when I have nothing else to watch. I’m so glad you brought back this series, and the editing is phenomenal
Y’all remember when Wolfey said Eternatus was terrible at the beginning of Gen 8? I sure remember that… I was a supporter of Eternatus for a while since it’s speed and hp and sp. atk is surprisingly high, and has decent move coverage as well.
When I started the video I clicked the comments and saw how many people were commenting about loving the long teambuilding intro so I got very excited basically expecting a free bonus like half hour in depth team building video before the battles. When the intro only turned out to be six minutes of explanation I was happy to get that much but bummed I got my expectations up unnecessarily lol. All this to say, like all the other comments have said, I love the longer teambuilding intro and would be happy to listen to you talk about it for much longer than that
Eternatus being a Poison(fav type/poison trainer) and dragon, + the energy design easily makes it one of, if not, my favorite pokemon. Also love the Dynamax Cannon move.

Just wanted to say, It's been 2 months and I keep coming back to this video for that intro alone. It really helps give me ideas on how to build a team. I'd love to see more like that
Been playing the games for 2 decades, watching the vgc competitively like thie for the first time is amazing. the amount of knowledge you have is sick and watching your predictions is really inspiring. You’re a really cool dude keep it up bro
Watching you get surprised by Eternatus damage early on was hilarious as I used to use it a lot. 100BP stab Dynamax Cannon is crazy on it not to mention Life Orb, it’s an actual nuke. I love Eternatus’ moveset and usually run power herb meteor beam, dynamax cannon, flamethrower and sludge bomb to just kill each and every enemy mon (singles is much different and takes less brain power). My favorite bit of these videos is either the theorycrafting or the “DODGE IT” bits which are so funny n honestly adorable ^-^
I binge watch a lot of your videos now but this is one I have for some reason seen multiple times now. I think I love theory crafting and teambuilding. Makes the ladder climb more fulfilling
The quality of content on this channel is really going up and up, great wideo and well done to all involved. For a Pokemon to use, I was using support eviolite Magmar for the memes this season and it ended up the MVP on my team , so that would be my obscure pick, as for restricted maybe Kyurem because it looks dope?
I really liked the editing in this video. How you described your tea, in the beginning, it’s advantages to the current meta, and then the cataloguing of your journey to #1 was very enjoyable. I’d love to see more of these videos. Try Mewtwo now!
I must say I'm honored to have been a factor in this effort, I often feel forgotten but I'm pleased to see someone being aware of my power. I mean even the comment section here ignores my role here.

Just wanted to say, It's been 2 months and I keep coming back to this video for that intro alone. It really helps give me ideas on how to build a team. I'd love to see more like that
That intro was sick. Whole section really framed the full video in a way that makes it easier to settle in for the ride
I absolutely love team building videos, wish poketubers did more of these
something that I had thought about for awhile is, what came first the poke ball or Amoongus
Old Wolfey videos are something else man. The editor did a great job.
Wolfey, glad you took a break from WeeGC when you needed it. That said, super glad to see you back! Looking forward to trying this team.
I am only in the intro of this vid, I cant express how much i loved the explanation of the team and break down. Good shit dude
I must say I'm honored to have been a factor in this effort, I often feel forgotten but I'm pleased to see someone being aware of my power.
I mean even the comment section here ignores my role here.

I really enjoy this longer-form content, and especially the raw, unfiltered and unedited wolfey
Team building and theorizing is my fav part of all competitive pokemon videos I watch
LOVED the intro Wolfe. Very informative and easy to listen to. Great editing.
I really enjoy these longer videos. The intro was super nice to see your mindset for team building.
This might be my favorite video of yours yet. I loved seeing your thought process in building your team.
