Great review. I purchased mine 1 month ago after buying an ION Pathfinder 320 for 100 bucks which the woofer became distorted at higher volume after a couple weeks. I then bought the JBL Party box 110 for 300 bucks which I had to play at a higher volume to hear the music in detail and the internal battery only gave me 5 hours of use. I returned both for a full refund. I drive tractor trailers for a living. Currently a company driver and was assigned a 2018 Freightliner sleeper tractor with a crappy on board stereo. This is why I needed a BT speaker that could play loud and detailed music for long periods of time (I'm a regional driver but can spend up to 11 hours per day driving). Modern tractors are a lot more comfortable then the old days but it is still pretty noisy in the cab with both windows up. The SOUNDBOKS 2 with extra battery was worth every cent of the 700 bucks After installing all the uploads it blew away the 2 previous speakers. I have 3 pre set EQs and use the power bass option a lot. Mostly listen to jazz and rock and while driving 70mph with the volume at 9 I can hear all of the instruments in great detail considering the atmosphere. No its not audiophile like detail but its perfect for me. A bonus is if my tractor breaks down and they assign me another I'm good to go with my Spotify app on my phone and SOUNDBOKS. Sooo happy I have this speaker.
I bought one of these last Christmas and it sounds great. Amazing outside and alright indoors. I got the strap too. Only Christmas present i got was for myself 🤷🤣
Great review. I received mine just last week. Had the same problem as you, nearly sent it straight back. Updated it to version 2.1.1. sounds better but not amazing. I also own the gen 3. Thanks for the honest no nonsense review.
Great review! I have 2 soundboks3s and 1 soundboks go and it really plays well with the soundboks 3. . But I agree with you I didn't like it at first but it does have its place. LOL
@Everyday Man I Played music for a kid's birthday in a large gym and the Soundboks go on top of a soundboks 3 had the wall shaking. And the go added the reinforcement I needed to sound like my pa systems. Loud and clear music and microphone. I also spent a lot of time outside so I now will grab the soundboks go a lot more because it does get loud and it seems to work well outside. If you buy this brand speakers definitely use the app and do the updates. The app and the ability to EQ and the pro panel makes these speakers worth it.
I prefer the Boss Home Theater portable speaker.much smaller andanagable size, has a handle, great battery backup, deep bass, and loud enough at such a compact form factor.
They serve different uses. The soundbox go can work as a main speaker for a medium sized college party (30-40 people). Boss Home Theater portable speaker won't work for that.
I've just got the S1, and now one of these. Keen to compare. The Bose sounds pretty smooth, if a little topheavy (understandably) and good for speeches and background tunes, whereas he is right that the Go is obnoxious, and will rock some rooms and parks. Also hoping they sound good together too, only just got the Go and haven't put them together.
@@bequiaboy19 it sucks, the dsp is different so they are out of time. Ended up pulling mu HK Mono tower instead. They have their uses, the Bose for speeches and acoustic, Soundboks Go for beats and bass music on the go.
Hows that hitting at 131db?? Thats louder than its big brother?? U sure your equipment is correct? Cuz i feel they would post the correct db. Level on their site for the go.
Useless comment unless you provide brand and model. Would be nice if you could provide that info. In the market and looking. I'm researching the Trutlebox Gen2. It's more affordable. Soundboks looks and sounds good but too pricey for me.

You will enjoy it, I do. But it's not perfect.

I haven't had the Meyer calibrated. But it was pretty close to the Go. It wasn't a full meter away.
How you’d get a free battery ?
They were offering an extra battery when I bought it.
What song did you use for the demo?
