So -- I had a wedding to play at a couple of weeks ago and I was trying to figure out what nice love songs to play. This song popped into my head because of the sweet, classic lullaby, You Are My Sunshine. So I looked it up and it turns out, it is most definitely not a wedding song BUT it is a beautiful song and I decided I wanted to cover it. I asked my friend Ben Mulwana if he wanted to collaborate on this video and here it is! We hope you love it!

When I was a very little boy my grandmom sitting in her large rocking chair used to hold me in her lap and sing this song to me as she gently rocked me.
This song brought back some bittersweet memories of that lovely woman who took time from her busy daily schedule to rock and sing to me. Thanks for the memory. Very nicely done!!

I can't get over how sad this is! (All my life I'd only heard the first verse.)
I remember my mother singing this to me as in a lullaby way. She only repeated the same bit over and over . As she called me her sunshine when I was young .i remember just going to sleep without any care and knowing I was loved. Thank you for taking me back to such a beautiful ❤️ moment in time. Your version was subtle but powerful at the same time . Thanks 😊

Can you explain to me exactly what harmony is? Does it have to be with two people or is harmony also a solo thing?

I'm just an amateur singer, not formally music trained. I'll try my best:
It is two or more people singing at once. One person does the melody, the main tune of the song. At the same time, the other person(s) sing complimentary notes. Or rather, notes within that same chord.
1st verse - She is singing the melody, the main tune of the song. He's doing (quiet) harmonies.
2nd verse - at :44 They are both singing melody (main tune) He's just in the male range, which is naturally lower. But it's the same notes.
3rd verse - at 1:16 She is singing melody. He is doing high harmonies (which sound SO gorgeous!)
chorus - 1:47 She's singing melody, he's doing harmonies
4th verse - 2:17 She's singing melody, he's doing low harmonies
chorus - 2:46 She's singing melody, he's doing low harmonies
I'm sorry, that's probably a terrible explanation. It's the sort of thing that would be easier to demonstrate rather than explain in words. I'm sure if you search, there are videos that could do a much better job!

If you listen to the Beatles, the Eagles, other bands, you can hear it. That's how I learned when I was growing up. Other than basic voice lessons, I have no musical training. Take care.

This is one of my favorite songs. I always thought it was a sweet, joyful song. In the past few years, I've done a lot of childcare and used it for lullabies. One of my most precious memories was singing it to one of my boys and him joining in as he was drifting off to sleep.
But I had only ever heard the first verse. I didn't even know there was more. Somewhere along the line I heard the 2nd verse and it totally changed the meaning, the feel of it. It became almost hard to sing for lullabies, as now it no longer was happy to me. Now with these other verses, that's even more the case.
None of this is negative on you both! This was absolutely beautiful & I will listen to it often. It's just interesting how a song I thought I knew most of my life turned out to be quite different than what I thought it was.

My mum used to sing it for me to get to sleep. I’d annoy her every time by joining in instead of falling asleep. Some of my most favourite memories tho. This song will always be with me in ways I can’t describe
