I’m writing this 18 minutes before 2023. This was the last song our animal companion, Aria heard 2nd to the last night before she died. She had always been there for me when I felt like my emotions were beyond human understanding. She has always been afraid of fireworks and firecrackers so every new year’s eve, we would hide in the room under the stairs and I would hug her tight while playing loud music so she wouldn’t hear the fireworks outside. I was very busy for my board exams review the month she passed and I didn’t see it coming. I always blamed myself for it. It scares me that I’m leaving 2022 without her in my arms like how it has always been. It should be better, right? At least she will not be scared anymore. I want to believe she’s in a better and peaceful place now. I will always love and miss you, Aria. Thank you so much for the 8 years of love and happiness with you.

My father would sing this to his girls, mom and his three daughters. My dad had an amazing voice. Mom would join him and they would just sing to each other. There was no one else in the room, no matter how crowded it was when mom and dad sang this song to the other.

Lost my mother 2 months ago. She went to sleep happy and full of life and just didn’t wake up. The way she always wanted to go but it left such a massive hole in our lives. I used to sing this to my fur baby, my soul dog. Never in my life this will impact my heart so greatly. A week after he got his wings, I remember him in my dreams and I know he got an ok to visit me, to show me that his healthy again and to say our final goodbyes.
