    Rub the surface nail well until the surface gets a metallic sheen. The paint graphite dust then combines and the coating becomes more electrically conductive. You must achieve a conductivity of less than 150 Ohms for a length of 1 cm. Then cover the surface with a clear film to make the coating not only conductive but also resistant to water and mechanical scratches. This is a cheap stealth coating technology for drones that become invisible to radar.

    is this the same mix you used in your update? The water glass you are using is quite dilute. The higher concentrations are more viscous. ie 40-42 deg Be. If you want to make consistent ink smears, consider making a Mayer Rod or Doctor Blade method. The Mayer Rod method is simple: wrap a wire tightly around a 5-10mm rod and draw it across the ink on the surface. Depending on the wire thickness, you'll get reproducible, even films. Cheers! Doug

    Hi I tried this methode but the dried ink is not water resistant. Water disolve it unfortunately.
    Instead sodium silicate I used 2 component epoxy resin. It was bit difficult to mix but final coating is water resistant. I think if I would use acetone to disolve the mixture it would be easier to make a smooth layer... maybe you could make a video about tbis epoxy resin/acetone/graphite mix?

    I was try your project before, graphite and water glass/ sodium silicate. And it was not waterproof and the result on ink paint was not thick like what you did. Is there any reason about my failure?
    What i confusing is, how can be your ink was waterproof, is that from sodium silicate did you use?

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  3 года назад

      I use some cheap sodium silicate from technical store. I dont know what was the concentration of sodium silicate but was little more thick as some other sodium silicates. If you put for long time into water, the paint can go off after some time and rubbing. So is not 100% waterproof. But is no panic if you put into water for short time or if some drops of water will drop on the paint. Try to find some sodium silicate with higher concentration.

      After you respon my question, i was trying find more literation. You was right about silicate ( not waterglass) can use for water proof coating some parts. Its about concentration of NaoH + Sio2 which my supplier made. I was try it on the other supplier, and it was same. So i was make the other method for make conductive ink, graphite and thinner( or aceton maybe, i has try it and fail too) which melting the plastic and sterofoam. Is that method can works for make it?

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  3 года назад

      @@gambangtekop9910 right! So, to make a basic paint you need active material (pigment, like normal paints ar using or in your case graphite), binder (is in basic glue, that hold active material in place,... PVA, sodium silicate, PU glue,...) and solvent (which dissolve binder and make all luquid,... water, acetine, other organic solvents). But you need to know your binder,.... what solvent will dissolve it, will be waterproof when will be dry, flexible, etc,... so, the binder plays important role. Make PU glue, acetone, graphite or PVA, water and graphite. Play with amount and you will get not the best but good paint.

      This paint does not adhere to plastics, glass, metal, only porous surfaces such as wood, paper. It flakes off from plastics, glass, leaves, etc. when it dries. The best quality paint available today is the graphene paint by Robert Murray Smith, which can be applied in an extremely thin layer on various surfaces, yet it possesses extremely good conductivity. The conductive material is only about 1/4 - 1/6 of what is shown in this video! When graphene settles, it occupies only about 1/6 of its original volume! This is necessary to be able to paint in a very thin layer. For electroforming, it is crucial that the applied paint conducts as well as possible in the thinnest layer possible.

Can you help me?

    @jtoomla 4 года назад

    I saw one of your older video where you did the same ink with carbon and you got almost the same resistance results after polishing. So is that difference to make a good conductive ink, using carbon or graphite powder?

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  4 года назад +1

      Yes, to make good conductive ink is depending on almost all used materials like binder, conductive material, size,... in basic graphite is also a carbon. Graphite have lower surface area as activated carbon or carbon black, which means that you can add more graphite into the binder and still you get good liquid ink. But if you add some activated carbon or carbon black to the binder,... the load of carbon will be way smaller for the same liquid state of the ink. But if you add the same amount of carbon black or AC that you use with graphite,.... the ink will end up like pasta.
