This show was absolutely brilliant !!!! Cast were amazing and it was written with love. I am old enough to remember Crossroads, and this was done perfectly.
Very enjoyable, HBC very good, especially in the heartbreaking final episode. Less in appearance, perhaps, but you do get a glimpse of Noele Gordon sometimes from the portrayal. Amazingly though, HBC's voice almost seems to channel Noele Gordon in places. One thing that really struck me was a reminder as to the obvious love for Noele from the public and her acting colleagues. I also greatly enjoyed seeing Mark Gatiss playing Noele's close friend, the comedian Larry Grayson - another interesting character and a much-loved performer - who'd surely deserve a biographical docudrama in his own right.
I love Helena Bonham Carter but I'm not sure about this. First observation, the wig is far too dark red, Noelle Gordon had sandy red hair, also it was usually cut much shorter when in Crossroads. Details matter
Her story is pretty remarkable and I’m not old enough to have remembered her. I only learnt about her because of this series and now I consider myself a huge fan having marathoned all her TV interview on RUclips. Just because someone isn’t well known anymore, doesn’t exclude them from being brought back into the limelight.
Bonham-Carter is excellent, but the amiable Noele Gordon is not really interesting enough to warrant a 3-hour serial. Some may enjoy the nostalgia perhaps...
"Some characters and scenes have been INVENTED". This is what we are told at the start of this 3 part Nolly series. So the life of Noel Gordon was not compelling enough for viewers to watch that a load of writers had to sit around INVENTING in their heads a load of stuff. I'm not ok with that. Just downloaded the first episode, now I don't think I'll bother watching it. Fake news is bad enough, now we are supposed to put up with fake TV when it is supposed to be about real life. Undermines the whole project and enjoyment of it, for me it does. There is PLENTY of entertaining material about Noel Gordon that it didn't need anything making up out of thin air to Jazz it up. Now in many instances other than what is already widely known we are not to know for sure what is 'real' and what is fake and made up. No credibility to it then. Sadly they can forget it, for me it's a non starter. Seen 3 secs of the first episode and its now deleted. What a sell out by all concerned, inc Bonham-Carter who should have held out for a more 'real' portrayal rather than sticking on a ginger wig and doing any old tosh for the dosh. Stop press. JUST seen on IMDB who the writers are. Its actually Russell T. Davies of Dr Who. Totally forget it then.

I will watch anything with Helena! 👍
i will watch literally anything this woman is in
Same! (except in my case, that woman is Antonia Bernath)
This is an absolutely wonderful drama. HBC is Noelle- she’s just great. Only bad apple is the bloke playing Larry Grayson.

Why would Russell T make this no one even knows who Nolly is
People over 50 do still exist you know 😆
And that is why history is doomed
Woke - in the first few minutes. When will we be free?
Woke how?
@D D Day esq I know who he is, I'm asking what was woke.
@D D Day esq ah right, so nothing specific
