- The cast and crew of Nolly, Russell T Davies's celebration of the life of Crossroads soap star Noele Gordon, visit the BFI Southbank to talk about their show.
Nolly is an outrageously fun and wildly entertaining ride through Noele Gordon’s most tumultuous years; a sharp, affectionate and heart-breaking portrait of a forgotten icon. As widow Meg Richardson in the long-running soap opera Crossroads, Gordon was one of the most best-known figures in Britain. Then in 1981, at the height of the show’s success, she was axed without warning. Nolly is a bold exploration of how the establishment turns on women who refuse to play by the rules, and a love letter to a legend of television and the madcap soap she starred in.

it is a fantastic piece of television, such a rarity these days, and this bfi q+a is a perfect endpiece.
The series was a ( TRIUMPH ) surpassed expectations. I’ve watched it three times and each time I notice something new .
Haven't watched it yet, but you can not go wrong with Helena. Even her interviews are a must watch!!!
New Zealand had played all of " Nolly " om TVNZ 1 on Sunday 9-April-2023 at 8.30pm Lets hope Helen Bonham Carter wins an award. I remember when I had staied in a motel with my parents may yars ago wen New Zealand got Colour tv and if you wanted a motel unit with a colour TV you had to pay more but you coud pay less it it was a black and white TV.

Nolly will be on PBS in the US in March and I’m very curious how it will be received. I actually don’t think anyone really needs to know about Noele Gordon to enjoy Nolly.

This might have been great to watch but the sound is too low.
Where are the Producers Brains, who were filming this for the BFI RUclips channel?
I mean...they were filming what was happening on the stage, but they had Susan Hanson ( who played Diane in Crossroads) in the audience, who they confirmed, BUT...The viewer at home watching on RUclips, could not even see her, because they never had a camera in the audience to quickly switch to Susan Hanson's location in the audience.
The logical thinking behind the filming of this event, is unbelievable with situations of missing out of famous people who could be in this location's audience.
I could watch 36 minutes of Helena talking 😍😍😍
I think the story of Hazel Adair is more interesting. She was an amazing woman.

She looks nothing like Noele Gordon in the film. It’s a shame Nolly will be associated with her image from now on.
