Planning on installing mine tomorrow. Incredibly helpful overview-thanks a ton. I didn’t anticipate all the steps (the Rough Country install video is missing several steps). I’ll have your video at the ready w a full cell phone battery-think it’s gonna take me a little while. Thanks again for the tutorial!

I just got one and pushed it all the way back and the rubber end is centered over the tailgate.

Just watched a nightmare of a post from a year ago on a Rough Country tri-fold cap for a 2021 f-150. Save me from making a $700+ mistake.

I am not sure about that model. This one turned out ok for me. Good luck with whatever you choose.

It's been about 10mos since you posted this... How has it held up so far? Any discoloration or damage to the top of the cover? Any new leaks or other troubles? Much appreciated!

I'm not gonna be a good source of info on these questions. I took the cover off last fall and put my toolbox back in. I swapped them out again this spring for a trip. I only use it for traveling. And I usually keep my truck in a covered shop when not using so sun damage is a minimum to my truck.
The only trouble i have i believe I talked about at the end of the video. It will jam a little while retracting due to uneven reeling in. Lightly oiling the running wipers fixes this. Dusty enviroments makes this worse

Sounds like it not center perfect. Looking at the first of the video it looked crooked.

It is as "centered" as possible. I assure you. I believe I even comment about going back and remeasuring everything. If you listen to my critique, one of the main issues I have is that you do NOT mount the coil box to your truck bed. It just sits there. The rail guides mount to your bed rails, and with one single bolt on each side, the coil box mount to the rail guides. This is not sufficient to hold it in my opinion. The coil retracts perfectly if lubing is maintained. Crooked is not the correct word. More like it gets torqued out of square. Leaving the coil unable to retract perfectly square. Even a few fractions out and it rubs and fails to retract.

Has it kept water out of the bed?

Been a minute since I made that video. Cant remember exactly how I worded it then. I talked at the end about water. Still the same. About 90% protection. Heavy downpour sitting still will have water front corners. And very small amount back corners.

What year is your gmc? Also is it a short bed?
