hey, i setup the app in stereo, for the reason when i set my 6i6 stereo it sounds amazing within bias FX 2 , but when i use TH U, stereo setting i only get the left channel going and it goes only stereo if i add reverb, i mean i use an impulse loader in stereo also but still sound pretty bad, i have less signal on the right than on the left
For years I was devoted to Line6 products, till' yesterday. I tested TH-U and I was blown away by this. Fairly couldn't sleep afterwards :). The King is dead, long live the King!
Overloud makes some of the most convincing high gain harmonically rich tones out there. That said, Line 6 Metallurgy is quite good though with a different kind of sound and modern more metal tailored amps.
Somehow the built in IR loader is even better in BIAS FX 2 than what TH U uses, but again when running the whole thing in stereo, i got only the left channel running and nothing in the right, rights goes in action when adding reverb or any modular stuff but it sounds bad comparing to FX 2

So it's been a year since this review. (Great review). Has there been any changes/upgrades to make this upgrade from TH-3 worth it now or is it the same? (Anyone?)
At first I was disappointed with the rig player as well, but I played with it a bit more and I started to really love it. The presets aren't great, but I'm absolutely loving it now.
yes. that little round icon with the little squares in it on the bottom left is a signal splitter. you can just drag and drop it into the signal chain and use it however you want.
got a free upgrade for this because i bought th3 last month, pretty underwhelming but hey i cant argue for free. Maybe they will further develop Rig Player down the line. I think they're planning on getting musicians into their studio, to profile their rigs and im assuming sell packs. Lets hope these dont cost too much. Great vid once again!
Hey, just to be fair: when you tried the Rig player, and you tried it with the US Modern cab, then you turned the presence-treble up to compensate the fact that the US Modern cab is much darker than the ones in the Rig Models (also lowered the bass). Then you left the presence-treble on a high setting and returned from the US Modern to the Rig's cab, clicked around to try other rigs, and complained all the time how harsh is it.
Anyways, I have only the TH-U Metal (upgraded from TH-3) and agree with most of the points. They have changed the font to an ugly one, and they call it a new release.

Thanks for the review man. Just tried it out today and I can't get passed the UI on it. Talk about a step back. The font is hard to read and It looks flat. TH3 looks like a piece of hardware on the top section and the logo has a 3D look to it . The plugin still sounds great, but really needs a UI overhaul. So I guess this means no further updates to TH3 now that U is out. Just my 2 cents worth.
As a fellow Pod HD500x owner, I've watched a few of your videos and think that I ate about the roar and love to track with it because if the feel, but I also own bias fx and bias amp 2, Fortin NTS and nameless and I have to say they sit better in the mix. Good news, Overloud support just emailed regarding one of my suggestions (ok, complains) about the Looper in TH-U being far worse than TH3, and was told they're currently implementing a SAVE feature expected within the next couple days. Interesting. I neither own THU or TH3, last version I messed with and love is TH2. From what I can tell from vid of the newer plugins is more detailed modeling and of course tons more amps and so forth. THU still has that signature Overloud grunt for distortion, with all those juicy overtones and harmonics that roar and sing. Between Audio Assault, Neural, and Overloud something, there's heaps of great tones and variants to choose from. Hey! Thanks for the review. Do you have any TH3 presets that you would like to share, maybe? Also I am glad that you are one of the few guys on the forefront of showing stuff about TH3 and do quality content with it. As someone else wrote in the comments, I also think it is somehow under-appreciated. I am glad that I found out it exists. Awesome amp-sim and unlike most other competitors, it is extremely efficiently programmed and still sounds awesome if not the awesomest among the sims.
I actually think you should review TH-U one more time about that Rig Player, because its another world when does choptones appears. Its not the same at all, and real good sounded, mind blowing. Another thing, you cant use approach the rig player as an amp, as its not an amp head, its a profile of a hole rig. But the beginning reviewers have it wrong about that rig player today, its really changed from what we where meet by when TH-U came out. So it get this unfair thinking about it.
Like another commenter said, the old 5150 in TH-U actually sounds right vs TH-3 where it sounds not so great. Also, I wonder why they modeled the 5150 twice? The manual says one is a 5150 and the other is a 6505... They are the exact same amp ha. Aaand the other newer modeled one sounds and reacts vastly differently. I'm wondering if some of these new models were modeled with their profiling technique and that's why they behave so weird when you tweak the dials (some models have HUGE bass... Way more than a real micd up can would have. Specifically the models on their Kemper head looking module (each profile has a head graphic version that seems to sound exactly the same). I like TH-U, but some of their choices for amp models/modeling are strange. They should keep the Kemper style modeling strictly in the Kemperish module and not make a head version of the same thing... Or else do component modeling on those same versions. Still my favorite amp sim so far, holds up to the best I've tried
Man i agree with you this should have been a free upgrade. i was gonna buy that new pack british classics they just came out with, an emailed them yesterday. they said i had to buy the full TH-U or one of the TH-U packs in order to use the british classic pack.. im not got pay all that money again to have all the same stuff just to get some tube options . they never really have updates so this would have made a good one in my opinion.. cool video though
This is my experience only. I had the Kemper from its conception and gave up on it eventually to use TH3/3/and now U. I found that it was great that someone would have the equipment to profile a great tube amp or the like and have a lot of folk really comprehensibly sample the complete sound to be played at my end . Problem was that the equipment they were using to play back the profiles was never the same as the equipment I have. So I was continuously tweaking until .... forever. I have found a lot of peace of mind being able to "build" my own sound with the speaker etc equipment I use and also TH`s ability to allow me to add and subtract and adjust to the nth degree. The lack of a good editor was also part of that. It seems they have that now. Not sure. I live at the bottom of the planet and light travels slowly down here :) Like I said... thats just my experience with it but...... hey yes it would be great to be able to take KP profiles and use them . Im always greedy :)
@@ljr8819 i couldn't agree more. The guitar, pickups and even the tuning you use to profile an amp...it all comes with the final product and the profile itself. Same with amp sims...some very good amp sims out there (like the toneforge plugins by JST) are clearly focused for lower tunings and in my opinion you won't get the best out of it by plugging in a guitar in E Standard for example. So building your own sound from scratch is definitely great and Overloud has got you covered there.

@@ForTiorIJohnny- I did upgraded for free. Idk how you got to pay for it. But the thing that matters is that support is gonna be over ..so wanted or not (if you wanna keep using it) you'll gonna have to upgrade in the feature.
@@AudioReplica2023 when you check on the website it says what the different upgrades cost. perhaps you can upgrade for free if you got TH3 more recently. i got it like two years ago. also with amp sims there´s no real need for support. just like with every other kind of plugin, when it works, it works. all the updates i got over time for TH3 didn´t improve anything for me. they just fixed bugs that i never even ran into. so i don´t really share the idea that i "have to upgrade".
Right on @@ForTiorIJohnny their pricing and upgrade model seems confusing bc it is. recent TH3 buyers get free upgrade. long time users of TH-3 get upgrade costs that are variable, based on what we spent originally. The full version cost more and has least upgrade cost. They also had a limited rock pack, funk pack and metal pack that were about $60, so instead of being SOL, they're letting you apply that towards TH-U as an upgrade. hope this clarifies things a bit.
I always founf TH3 a little muddy tbh. I'd have to really gun the amp to get a half decent clean sound. The ir loader is poor and doesn't sound right with irs loaded. We should start a th3 group, or like even a discord to share presets..!! It's so hard to find non metal tones for th3 👩👧👧👩👧👧👩👧👧🦕🦕🦕🐙
Looper quantize is the best feature in thu
I actually think you should review TH-U one more time about that Rig Player, because its another world when does choptones appears. Its not the same at all, and real good sounded, mind blowing. Another thing, you cant use approach the rig player as an amp, as its not an amp head, its a profile of a hole rig. But the beginning reviewers have it wrong about that rig player today, its really changed from what we where meet by when TH-U came out. So it get this unfair thinking about it.
wow modifying the tubes made a bid difference. and you didn't even touch the variac. nice vid!
Still my favorite amp sim so far, holds up to the best I've tried
what the hell is respire?
Danke Dir für das Review! :-)
Man i agree with you this should have been a free upgrade. i was gonna buy that new pack british classics they just came out with, an emailed them yesterday. they said i had to buy the full TH-U or one of the TH-U packs in order to use the british classic pack.. im not got pay all that money again to have all the same stuff just to get some tube options . they never really have updates so this would have made a good one in my opinion.. cool video though
if you could load actual Kemper profiles oh boy...
Steven Slate seemed to say that it could reproduce Kemper profiles, however, it won't be the first time he's given inaccurate information. Here's the post:

The difference is that the full TH-U will have even more amps, an IR loader that can load custom cab impulses, and a few more features that I'll outline later.
Both TH-U and TH-U Slate Edition feature R2M and the RIG PLAYER which has the ability to reproduce full amp profiles from a famous hardware amp profiler.
R2M is done by the Overloud Engineering team, so they will take a profile and then recreate it in RIG PLAYER format. Already there are available RIG PLAYER profiles from some of the greatest amp rigs, but there will be many more in the future.
Cheers,
Steven
@@flashbak01 Thank you
That wouldn't be fair to the rest of us that purchased a kemper, I disagree with you. You want Kemper profiles? Buy a Kemper!@
I’ve felt TH3 has been an under-appreciated amp sim compared to its competitors that seem to get a lot more publicity. But this update does seem lacking. TH3 is staying in my toolbox but I’m not hearing or seeing much that would entice me to upgrade it. Yet. Still glad to at least see them working on it. Hopefully they have more planned...
...hmmm, it took years (!) for this version. I don't see Overloud as a competitor anymore, unfortunately.
is it just me or the new models are suuuper bassy?
Add high pass filter, turn the bass knob down and youre done
one thing to remember, the type of PICKUPS used
And put the other 4 strings on the guitar :)
You're not the only one disliking the interface of THU in comparison to TH3
Rig Player is the thing, using the choptones pack, its just amazing. That changed my mind on the TH-U, just god it. But I think they maybe had some bad rig player profile at start. But getting the choptones pack, they nail it. Just love the sound.

Save $10 on the upgrade from Audiodeluxe !Got it just now.I hope this beats S Gear somewhere down the line.Greatcollection of amps.
It says $69.00 for US same as the Overloud site. So how did you go about saving an additional $10.00?
@@flashbak01 You would have to add to cart, once you get your account set up & you should see the discount there.I've shopped there for a long time & these guys are pretty good.
@@Triumphinchrist1: Thank you for the info :)
Thanks for this tip. I created an Audiodeluxe account, added the upgrade to my cart, and it has automatically applied a coupon code ‘WINTER2018’ with a $10.01 discount. New price $58.99 👍🏻
TriumphinChrist Thanks so much for the info 🤘 Ordered from Audiodeluxe.
maybe they just suck at making profiles? would be cool if someone like amp factory would do the profiles
Essentially Overload got greedy and charged for an upgrade, additionally with the added "bonus" of being able to charge for presets disguised as Rig player
seriously, the rig player should be its own thing. better yet, they should release their profiling program so people can make their own rigs.
Last year I bought th3 and couldn't be happier but this.. Is.. Underwhelming even for 59 euro upgrade.
I am pretty underwhelmed, too...I have expected MUCH more. Even the ancient Randall amps are still there - why not Randall Thrasher, Satan etc.?
What a pity, Overloud was my choice for a looooooong time. Not a single chance agains Helix (Native), IMHO.
Matthias Buesing lol helix is much much better. Miles better than this collection of 16000 crappy amps
@@kimseniorb - that's exactly what I meant...
Matthias Buesing ahhh I thought the opposite!
@@kimseniorb lol, good that I stated it more clearly. Honestly, the Helix (got the LT and Native) was the BEST invest on musical gear in my 30 year musical "career". BY FAR.
Matthias Buesing couldn’t agree more, still I’d prefer axefx in a plugin form, but that wont happen anytime soon. I find helix has those ghostly 300-500 mids on some amps that I dont like. But I picked a few models that work for me and pretty happy with them. Friedman, archon, badonk, 5150, lonestar. All great different flavours. I’d love to get my hands on fortin trial, hear lots of good stuff about it
Well...technically it worth the upgrade for 2 reasons. #1 its free for TH3 users and #2 thats for sure that support in the sense of updates for TH3 is gonna be over soon. So...
it´s not free. upgrading from TH3 costs 60€ here.
Kuassa amplifikation vermilion is a very good amp sim which I use with other vsts for effects. I also use TwoNotes Wall of Sound as a cabinet and ir loader which is good.
So this Is the th3: wooshtapatatatachupachupa
Exactly, this should have been a free upgrade. I love my TH3 overloud but this upgrade was poop.
the IR fucks it up i mean the built in shit craps it out, the IR loader and differetn IRs are way better, even bias FX 2 built in loader is better
The rig player sounds meh
The newer libraries, british and american classics are insane. No plugin comes close to this
Pity the music is ugly. Take another guitarist
