- What an absolutely insane weekend picking up almost 50 Pokémon cards I needed for all the vintage and modern master sets I am working on! From Shinings to Crystals "Grails on Grails on Grails" is the theme of what is a TWO PART CollectACon vendor negotiation recap video with buying, selling and trading! Thank you and I definitely suggest it! Just start by doing quick research on TCG Player or eBay last solds so you can have a good base point and go from there!

Definitely vendors have same items. This time I did not see a lot of unique products and no one did live rips or shows, Still pretty good time tho
Agreed! Nothing over the top exciting but still a great time! Always good seeing people you only catch up with at cons and tracking down cards you need!

A lot of them definitely were. So many things I saw were so over priced it wasn't even funny...
Agreed I was there and it’s insanity. Only ones I had luck with was sports cards
@@OnePrideFishing There were a lot of sellers that worked with me but some just didn't even want to budge. Waiting on the person to just walk up and say OK to their numbers.
@@GrimHorizonTVit was my first ever convention/ card show ever so it was a lot of fun I was just blown away with some of the pricing and since I haven’t been in the Pokémon scene for a bit I just stuck to sports for the most part. Looking to go to a local card show and see if prices would be a little better. Anyway awesome video man I’ll be checking more videos out

Yep. Glad we ended up making a deal but definitely wasn't going to buy at the high number. Wasn't worth anywhere close to that

@@Bandersonloud91 I love the vendors that are also collectors and want to help other collectors complete their goals! Not judging all vendors at these vendors but there are plenty that just look at the cards as profit and don't even care the end location of it and just want that buck. There are so many great vendor/collectors though that go out of their way to help others that I've seen right next to me with not even saying a word. Those are the wholesome moments

Thanks man! I am a firm believer there is no point in over paying. There will always be another card available at some point. Some of these vendors have insane prices on stickers but once you say something they are willing to negotiate. Not using this video to put anyone on blast but more for educational purposes I guess and just what I have been doing all along regardless!

Yea I was in that general admin line and holy guacamole it was long. I showed up about 15min prior to 10 and waited an additional 30min after open to get to the front of the line.
I like how the vendor agrees it's MP and still wants to sell for over LP lol.
"I didn't see that" sure you didn't. Man I can't with these sellers...it's sad that we have to double and triple check everything.
Keep coming back to add more lol. I 10000% agree that it was like every single case had the same exact high end bangers.
This con was my first one and I definitely was nervous haggling in person...so thinking back on it I could have done better with my bigger trades/deals. In the end it's not a huge loss but if your trying to make that dollar stretch it all adds up.

I was glad the Dragonite deal worked out in the long run, I legit just walked away the first interaction but couldn't find another clean copy anywhere so went back and had another go. We came to terms off camera and just filmed the pickup after the fact.
100% the sellers aren't going to comp stuff when selling unless you bring up negotiation, I assume they have so many people that just walk up and say yes to their numbers. Always, always, always comp your cards and look them over 10 fold. The I don't know that was there happens way to often than not unfortunately.
Congrats on your first con though and hope you had a great time! It gets easier each time and you will build up huge confidence to negotiate. I go into deals not getting emotions in the way. If they say "No" then it wasn't meant to be. The same card is in in the building most likely in better shape and for a better deal. Just gotta find it!
@@GrimHorizonTV yea 100% , I went in with a lot of trade raw and slabs to try and move into some grail cards which as soon as I found a grail I threw the kitchen sink at him lol. I’m fine with it he gave me 75-80% trade on comps so I felt okay. Plus the stuff I was trading was not selling for me either. My biggest pick up was a Karen’s umbreon VS PSA 9
@@JediMasterT trading or selling sometimes makes the absolute best sense especially if you can't move it. People don't think of all the time/space/fees involved in selling a card online and letting go for a little bit of a cut is actually a great alternative if you get something you want in return! You scored huge! That is a personal grail of mine one day! Love all the art from VS!
I think you were on the mark with the Light Dragonite there. Definitely MP condition.
Hate it when I go sell my cards and there's a tiny factory whiting or nick, they'll say its LP.
Unfortunately, anything that’s outside of whitening imo would definitely bring it down to MP.
That Dragonite is definitely MP. The front face is good which is what I want for the binder outside that spec right under the box. Looks like holo bleed but its a chip in the card showing the Cosmos under it. Adds a bit of character but at least got it for a decent price! Vendors will point out everything on a card when buying but when you point out what is on their cards they get mad sometimes. Guess it depends on the person but doesn't make sense ha

Sorry I missed your table! I thought I at least looked at every booth but there were so many people there this weekend it was sometimes hard to get around and follow a direct pattern! I was definitely on a mission tracking down cards. I will definitely find you at the next Con!!

I much prefer the buyer perspective but I am biased ha. The buyer is getting the deal for their collection 90% of the time. Some of these seller videos are just trying to make a buck on someone. Plenty of fair sellers out there though!
@@GrimHorizonTV it would be awesome if we could see you putting the cards into the binder afterwards. That would be satisfying. You inspired me to start a legendary collection master set. I had a lot of them when I said I was going to start, but I sold them all. I have three left and a new binder, so at least I have a start
@@Cobie00 Part Two is going to be a card overview of all the cards I picked up and where I stand with all the master sets. You should totally check out my "Finishing What I Started 24 Years Ago" Series. That is basically what the entire channel has been based off of once I filmed those videos months back! A Completed Neo era binder overview is definitely in the near future as well. LC is going to be a grind! I started that set in a binder too but cant justify buying reverses when I see them. Just so so expensive. Rather work on all my e-Readers first!

Was definitely a ton of fun dude! The Lugia trade was probably the best deal of the weekend in terms of value! It is already broken open and looks amazing cleaned up a bit! Legit dirt was smeared on it. Should have at least gotten wiped down before grading.

I have two completed sets of the southern island sets in their regular binders. I have pictures to prove it.
That's an awesome thing to have! The complete binders are so cool! My Southern Islands cards are just in my Neo binder with all the other sets!
I always grt my stuff graded so people cant touch it. You handled cards like family but most socially stunted samuels dont
I definitely try to handle everyone's card like they were my own especially if I don't end up buying them. The last thing I want to do is mess up someone else's property. But the card grabbers and putting their fingers all over the cards is the absolute worst!

I love seeing how you negotiate with the sellers, it’s super helpful! I’m always too scared to try to talk them down even if I know i should 🫣
Glad the footage could help people with getting cards! It never hurts to ask at all. If you feel the price is too high it most likely is. Most of these bigger shows I see numbers that don't make sense more often than not and I just either walk away or examine the card for the right condition and show them recent sales. Plenty of vendors want the sale and won't turn you away, there are those who could care less though too.
@@GrimHorizonTVprice of a card is kinda artificial though. if he wants to sell at that price and someone is willing to buy then it is now worth that price
@@jabij1 Oh for sure. These cards are an always changing currency. They are out here trying to make a living and I respect that. Just saying no vendor should get mad that you call them out for being too high on price. If someone is willing and happy to buy at their numbers than so be it and they are thrilled to get the card they wanted than that is great for both parties. I am just not that person.
